Stopped in once earlier as we walked by to see what they had inside, we weren't even greeted there was just one guy at the counter who looked our way and didn't really acknowledge we had even stepped in after making eye contact. So we walked out. Went back the next day and there were more people working the counter and were immediately greeted and asked what we wanted. More friendly ladies and the vibe was different in a better way. We ordered blueberry pie and peach. They asked if we wanted it warm and we said yes. The blueberry pie was very good not overly sweet with a nice crust but was entirely cold. The peach was the same thing. Real slices of peach and yummy pie but entirely cold also. After looking at 5-6 ice cream gelato shops in town, I finally found a place in Sedona that served homemade prickly pear ice cream, which is an Arizona specialty! The natural color of the fruit is pink so the ice cream took that on. The taste is fruity, like a sweet berry. This place caught me by surprise. We weren't in too much of an ice cream mood that day because it was already quite chilly outside, but we wanted to try it so we just got their small cup. That size allows you to choose two flavors, so we had their Belgian Chocolate and Espresso Swirl. SO. INCREDIBLY. GOOD! Their ice cream is almost like a gelato because it was so lush and creamy and so flavorful without being overly sweet. It's not the kind of ice cream that has those little ice chip bits you get in every bite. Nope. This was just pure creamy bliss all throughout. Everything they had was homemade too--from cookies to brownies to pies, and of course their ice cream! They had coffee as well, so they truly have a lot to choose from when you stop by. The staff were super nice and friendly, and made our visit such a happy one. We also heard they usually have a long line that goes out the door, so we were pretty lucky when we found ourselves only with a few other people ahead of us when we visited. Although after we got our order, the stream of people that arrived seemed endless. If you find yourself in Uptown Sedona, please stop by and get some of their ice cream. Prickley Pear ice cream is pink. I don't know if I'd recommend it per se. But I guess one should try it when in this neck of the woods. The burbon chocolate pecan pie tastes better warmed up. Ice cream is extra. I like that they charge less for cups. That's how it should be. read more

We stopped in here for some ice cream and nabbed a parking spot right out front (it was also just past 6pm so free, yay). The shop is small and they don't have restrooms but they are definitely serving up some delicious goodies. We went all in on the apple pie sundae. We did the double crust (the crumble looked great but there was only a sad, small slice left and I wanted a bigger slice for the $10+ price tag). The pie slice was warm and gooey, we had an epic scoop of the malted vanilla on top (pro move over the regular vanilla), caramel sauce and whipped cream. It was AMAZING. Seriously, like a big hug of nostalgia. When we went it was cash only, not sure if that's normal (presumably not since it was a hand written sign on the door). Needed dessert and a coffee after hiking all morning. This place is a quaint shop with ice cream, pie, coffee and other drinks. I ordered a latte and a piece of cherry crumble pie, and my husband got an ice cream sundae with coffee ice cream and chocolate fudge with real whipped cream. He was in heaven. My pie was just ok, but I needed a pick me up from hiking. Unfortunately, they were out of their strawberry rhubarb that was on their website. We had the Turtle Sundae in a waffle bowl and chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. Both were delicious. They claim their ice cream, even whipped cream are made fresh in the store. The taste confirms it. Follow-up visit review: We loved Black Cow so much we went four times in a row--that should say it all. That made it really easy for us to order ice cream - she had butter pecan with espresso swirl. I had Belgian Chocolate with Espresso Swirl. Both delicious! Super busy on July 4th! We came here after dinner to grab some ice cream. I ordered the Oreo sundae. I wish it had more ice cream in it. The fudge, Oreos and whipped cream were very good. I forget how we stumbled upon this place during our time in Sedona, but it did not disappoint for sure! NOT DOG FRIENDLY AT ALL! If you have a dog with you, don't bother to come here. The moment we come in with our dog, the immediate greeting to us was "we don't allow dogs in here". No Hi, No Hello. Not exactly how someone should greet a customer. Also to paint a better picture, our dog was in a stroller with enclosed netting. She wasn't loose, she wasn't barking, nothing. We weren't planning to sit inside anyway but just to order some ice cream as a reward for the hikes we did today and sit at the benches outside to enjoy the nice weather. But the guy at the counter ruined the moment for us. Next time, be a little courteous to your customers. They don't even bother to check if your dog is service animal or not.
