Great Service! Great Food! You have to try this I love the Pizza and Penne a la Vodka is soooo amazing...

So I've been going to Papa D's pizza for years. Donato was a MasterChef when it comes to Italian food and pizza. I had known him to the various restaurants that he owned/operated in the Orlando area along with his quest for customer satisfaction, and superior product When he sold the business, I was very disappointed, and I was hesitant to order from the new owners. It took some time, but I finally made the call. I was very disappointed with what came to my door. The pizza was not as it used to be. Any ingredients were not as fresh as they used to be. Donato would be in the restaurant early in the morning prepping everything that he was gonna serve for that day. This team wouldn't put in an extra 20 min to even care about what is going out the door. It's been a few times now that I have called the location to try to order food but the chicken parm is horrible. The sauce is lacking and I would never order a pizza from them again. Also customer service has gone down at a 90° angle. I know Donato and Mary would be very unhappy with what they built in the Dr. Phillips area. Funny, I first met Donato back when he was a chef at an Italian restaurant in front of the Walmart on Kirkman. I won't order from this business again, and I would suggest anybody thinking of possibly ordering from them to try somewhere else.. It's a sad day where you can't really find an amazing mom and pop Italian restaurant in the area. I would suggest Vincenzo on international Drive is fantastic, but they are expensive. I would love for Donato to order delivery from them one night and just see how he likes the food. Final note is that their delivery time is horrible. I usually order dinner later in the evening, but they would always deliver up until the moment that they closed. This restaurant policy is you have to order a half hour prior to the close of the restaurant to get a delivery which is ridiculous why I bother even doing that. If we have Uber eats and DoorDash, this really shouldn't be a problem . Consider this a warning!!! read more

There was a lot of flop to my slice. The flavor was OK, so I was not angry with it but I did not love it, either. The staff was quite pleasant and friendly. They provided me with excellent service and, in all candor, if I were to return to Papa D Pizza, it would be because the staff makes me willing to give the pizza a second chance to impress me. I visited the Papa D's on a Saturday afternoon at about 3pm so it was quite quiet. I was the only patron. The room was clean and the air conditioning was set to a comfortable temperature. read more

Got takeaway. Service was good - The sauce is great - very fresh - mozzarella triangles were great - the pizza was average for me though - maybe just the one I got... not bad at all just not stand out. Glad I tried it - I may give it another shot soon to try a different pizza. read more

A local in Orlando recommended Papa D's Pizza when my folks were house hunting earlier this year. When we caught up with each other in the midst of house hunting and work, we decided to try this place out to see if it was any good. We went around mid to late afternoon, which seemed to be a good time in terms of it being not too busy. They didn't have a lot of people working at that time, but everyone was friendly and upfront about the staffing and what could be made by the kitchen at that time. You can either take food to go or dine in. There are not a lot of tables for the dine in option, so go when it's a quieter period. We ordered a pepperoni pizza in one of their larger sizes and had leftover slices. Pizza took maybe 12-15 minutes. It was very hot and we did have to take small bites in the beginning to avoid burning our mouths. Actually my mom had to use a fork and knife to cut the pizza smaller as her slice was too hot to hold for an extended period. The pizza had a good amount of sauce, cheese, and pepperoni on all of the slices. I would say it is a little greasy compared to other places I've been to, but it was a good option if you want something less upscale and quick with a mom and pop feel. Pricing was fair for a pizza here. I think it was fairly reasonable. If you go when it's not a peak time, you shouldn't have an issue finding a spot to park. It's in the same small plaza with a Woofgang Bakery and a Korean restaurant. read more

We were at the nearby cafe for breakfast. Come dinner time, we remembered Papa D's and looked it up on Yelp. Very cozy place where you order at counter and take a table. Very pizza joint-type place. The staff taking the order was friendly and efficient. We order a meatball sandwich (regular not the smaller lunch size) & an eggplant parmigiana dinner. I love eggplant parmigiana and i tend to use it as a litmus test of an Italian place. Oh! They have the large plastic fountain soda cups. The old skool kind with the good ice too! Our server brought out a very fresh and simple small salad part of my dinner. Then our meals arrived. The meatball sandwich had a fresh roll made of pizza dough! Tender but crisp crust and soft fluffy interior. Hearty meatballs of about 1.5" diameter. And then my eggplant parm! About the size of my hand. Freshly made. And the best part - not too much cheese! Just the right amount. So i could really taste the eggplant. Omgosh. And a side of spaghetti marinara and a coupla bomb garlic knots! Heaven! How i wish we lived nearby! read more

The last two times I have tried to go there, they are closed. Sign is on the door, they have staffing issues, though workers are inside. Then they list they will open at a certain time and never do. Papa D Pizza is a good option for pizza if you are over on that side of town and craving a good pizza. The staff was friendly and gave good service. The interior here is nothing fancy, but a pizzeria should not be rated on ambiance, but rather the pizza itself. All in all, I found this a positive experience. read more

Overall, I would say that Papa D pizza is a good experience if you're looking for some quick chicken parm or a hoagie. We ordered both and the sauce was great, food was ready on time for pickup, and the experience was good. I would say if you are looking to be blown away by taste, this may not be the spot for you. However, that is of course why Magiannos, Carabbas, and other higher end Italian restaurants exist. Worth a taste if you would like Italian style hoagies, pizza, and dishes. The worst 1st time last time . Called in my order for a pizza told 25 minutes . Got there they woman at the register told 10 Minutes waited I noticed she was cutting up eggplant which was what I ordered I asked how Much longer she told me they are just putting after sitting for fifteen minutes. You think she would have told me there was a delay if she had I may of not been as upset with her response which" most people would wait ", honey " I'm not your honey . One of the best pizza places in the Horizon West/Windermere area! The XL 16" pie is closest to traditional New York style pizza. The cheese and sauce have great flavor and the crust is nice and crispy. Not like the cardboard flavored pizza we unfortunately have in the area. Went on a Friday night and noticed a lot of regulars picking up pies that were greeted by their first name. Must be a good place if the staff have great relationships with their customers. While my son and I had the pizza, great bake and crust, my wife had the pasta carbonara since she is sensitive to red sauce, and it was really good as well. One thing that Orlando doesn't have a ton of is NY style pizza joints. Papa D fills that void in the Dr. Phillips area and does it well! First of all, the place is small... it is tiny like a normal NY pizzeria and has very typical decorations. Maps of Italy... check... NY Yankees stuff on the wall... check.... TV playing random crap.... check. Service is always friendly and as long as it isn't too busy, it is pretty quick. The menu has all the normal things you would expect, but pizza is of course their specialty. I'm not going to pretend that this tastes exactly like pizza in NY and NJ... it doesn't.... but it is a solid option for the Orlando area. They also offer lots of pasta dishes, sandwiches, etc. I do have to knock them down a star for the Garlic knots - really pretty flavorless and the garlic bread just seems a little off also. Oftentimes we order and pick up our favorite Margarita Pizza and its most always delicious and on point. Service is good except they typically forget our parmesan cheese and chilli flakes and have forgotten our side of marinara. Sure mistakes can happen but not always:) It is not always the same person picking up who ordered it so we rely on getting the order proper. This has not stopped us from going back because we always support small businesses and have been involved in many :) The ambiance is cute and cozy for a small pizzeria. The thing is the last two times we ordered our favorite Pizza $22 or so for large cheese Pizza, we were mostly eating dough. There was not enough mozzarella cheese on the Pizza . The circumference of the crust edge was wider and thus even less cheese. I have no idea if they we're running low on cheese in the kitchen but i cannot imagine that would happen two times in a row. Unless its cost cutting instead of price increase. Its important to have the right amount of cheese on the triangle slices otherwise it tastes dry and some areas burn . We've been here a couple times and have always been satisfied with our order. I attempted to find their menu online to try some new items, & the menu is there, but without prices. It's mildly irritating when you can't find a current menu w/pricing, but our family was there yesterday & realized it hadn't changed much from one we found online that was posted elsewhere by a customer. Tonight we called to order the special that was posted yesterday, but they changed the special to the same items, only $5 more?? Anyway, we decided on another special - 2 medium 1-topping pizzas for $19.95, and a few Strombolis. Our order was hot, delicious & accurate. They have a nice crust & tasty sauce (just wish the pizza has more - but we had some from the Strombolis so that helped!). They were busy, but our carry-out order was ready in 30-minutes. This has been under new management for a few months now. Two weeks ago I went in around 7pm and ordered two slices. They were out of house pies but, offered me Sicilian slices. I agreed and asked for corner slices, always the best. The guy proceeded to walk into the walk-in fridge, grabbed a grey plastic bin opened a plastic bag and pulled out two frozen slices! If I want frozen pizza, I'd go to Publix. Will not be returning. read more

A lot of pizza restaurants think they know how to make calzones, but they basically just fold their pizzas in half. Not at Papa D! This is a real calzone, with a light, crisp, paper-thin crust filled with the best ingredients. I had pepperoni, red peppers, and ricotta, in addition to the standard mozzarella. It's served with a bowl of fresh marinara. It was easily the best calzone I've had anywhere. read more

It wasn't as great as it used to be. I would frequent this place every week when I worked in Dr. Phillips. I drove through the rain after dropping my daughter off at Universal just to get another tastesince I was on that side of town. They were out of Parmesan cheese and my drink glass only got filled once because they were too busy to accommodate. The sauce did not have its sweet flavor but tasted rather spicy. Decent NY pizza -- it's not exactly the same and it's certainly not the best in Orlando for NY pizza but it's nearby and gets the job done. I would say the service here is pretty atrocious like others have stated. I picked up a pizza and asked for condiments. Gluten Free Pizza! So happy to have found while I was in the area for business. I ordered takeout so I didn't really get to see the restaurant. Parking is a typical strip mall lot. Spaces are an adequate size. Back to the pizza. It was very good. You could tell it was gluten free which isn't always great but this was very good. I got pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and banana peppers. Toppings were good and there was enough. The woman at the register (I think the owner) was incredibly nice and made sure I had napkins etc. she also helped with getting cheese, oregano and pepper flakes. read more
