    18" X-Large Pepperoni Pizza

A local in Orlando recommended Papa D's Pizza when my folks were house hunting earlier this year. When we caught up with each other in the midst of house hunting and work, we decided to try this place out to see if it was any good. We went around mid to late afternoon, which seemed to be a good time in terms of it being not too busy. They didn't have a lot of people working at that time, but everyone was friendly and upfront about the staffing and what could be made by the kitchen at that time. You can either take food to go or dine in. There are not a lot of tables for the dine in option, so go when it's a quieter period. We ordered a pepperoni pizza in one of their larger sizes and had leftover slices. Pizza took maybe 12-15 minutes. It was very hot and we did have to take small bites in the beginning to avoid burning our mouths. Actually my mom had to use a fork and knife to cut the pizza smaller as her slice was too hot to hold for an extended period. The pizza had a good amount of sauce, cheese, and pepperoni on all of the slices. I would say it is a little greasy compared to other places I've been to, but it was a good option if you want something less upscale and quick with a mom and pop feel. Pricing was fair for a pizza here. I think it was fairly reasonable. If you go when it's not a peak time, you shouldn't have an issue finding a spot to park. It's in the same small plaza with a Woofgang Bakery and a Korean restaurant.

Small place, about 9 tables in all. Came from out of state on a business trip with my hubby as he was in the mood for pizza. Ordered a medium pepperoni, mushroom, and olive pizza. It was the best I've had in a long time! It's all about the crust for me! So, so yummy!

One thing that Orlando doesn't have a ton of is NY style pizza joints. Papa D fills that void in the Dr. Phillips area and does it well! First of all, the place is small... it is tiny like a normal NY pizzeria and has very typical decorations. Maps of Italy... check... NY Yankees stuff on the wall... check.... TV playing random crap.... check. Service is always friendly and as long as it isn't too busy, it is pretty quick. The menu has all the normal things you would expect, but pizza is of course their specialty. I'm not going to pretend that this tastes exactly like pizza in NY and NJ... it doesn't.... but it is a solid option for the Orlando area. They also offer lots of pasta dishes, sandwiches, etc. I do have to knock them down a star for the Garlic knots - really pretty flavorless and the garlic bread just seems a little off also. Overall a great place to visit and I know I will be back again!

My wife and I have been looking for pizza that taste similar to pizza from up north (Boston) area. This is by far the closest we've found. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

I think sometimes that the lack of service has kept me from eating out much, and then I go to Christinis where the service is too-notch. Great service can make lackluster food taste better but Christinis doesn't have to worry there. Their food is too notch as well. It is old world attentive service, and you can't help but feel special when you go there. Our server this evening was Atilla (sp?) and he has a commanding presence and keeps a close eye on things in an unobtrusive way. It was my birthday and they treated me very well. Okay, let's get to the food. Bread service before the meal was excellent. The bread came with an eggplant sauce that was excellent. They offer butter and olive oil but I say to forego that, and just have the eggplant sauce/dip. We both had the shrimp cocktail, which wasn't the plan. But the shrimp were so large and we hadn't had a shrimp cocktail in a long time, and boy was it good. The shrimp was fresh and as mentioned, very large. We then had a Caesar salad which was good. The cheese was good, but I was surprised that there were no anchovies. We like classic Caesar with anchovies, but the salad was good nonetheless. We split a small portion of the fagottini pasta with pear and Gorgonzola cream sauce. It was the absolute best. It sounds like an odd flavor combo but it works. We both had the veal (their specialty) hubby had the veal picatta. I had the Marsala. Both very good. It came with a polenta fritter that was good, I'm not sure what was inside, it had a nice flavor, maybe pimentos? Even though tiramisu or crème brûlée is usually my go to if having dessert, we went for cannolis for a "lighter" option. Very good as well. The last one the list is ambiance. Beautiful tables, classy elegant restaurant, and tuxedoed waitstaff. Excellent!

The combo of crispy edges, fluffy crust, hot honey, and goat cheese was unreal. At this point, I feel like I need to book a trip to Detroit just to compare lol. We also tried the cheese wheel pasta--flavor-wise it was just okay for me, but the tableside presentation was definitely the highlight. I went when they first opened and remembered really enjoying it, but I have not been back for lunch. It was pretty quiet during that time. I ordered one of their zero proof mocktails, the 00 Spritz, which was light and refreshing. We decided to share a couple menu items including the beef carpaccio and the garlic knot sliders with pesto chicken parm. Prior to ordering, my colleague had asked our server about another menu item and the type of meat that was in the sauce because she cannot eat pork. It was clear that he was not very sure. For it not being very busy and most people dining in were on a lunch break, the food took quite a while to come out. We received the carpaccio first - it was very tasty and we both enjoyed it. When we received the garlic knot sliders, they looked amazing. It comes with 3 sliders and a side of fries. Once we began eating the sliders, my friend noticed that there was crispy prosciutto (aka pork) on them. This was not listed on the menu or mentioned by our server. Many people don't eat pork (for personal or religious reasons), so that ingredient really should be disclosed on the menu. Our server was apologetic and mentioned that they had just updated their menu so this must have been an oversight. Sadly, my friend did not have enough time left in her lunch break at this point to wait for something else to come out. I personally did enjoy the sliders and took the leftovers home. I also ordered the cacio e pepe pizza to-go to have for dinner later, and it was also very good. Besides that hiccup, overall the food was good and I would go back to try more menu items.
