This has been my third time coming to this restaurant, and I introduced the place to my mom. This is the first time attending during lunch time. You do have to wait to be seated, and it took a bit long to do so because the waitstaff is also the hostess. It's definitely worth the wait, Manny was our waitress she's very sweet and attentive. This might be the best sushi I've ever had. Our server was OUTSTANDING. I wish I could remember his name. But he was the bomb. We ordered the Lady Gaga, Valentine, Burning Man and the Akashi Fashion rolls and were stunned at how delicious they were. The Lady Gaga and Valentine rolls were DELICIOUS. We also ordered sesame chicken for the kids which was also super good! And mochi and tempera ice cream for dessert! The tempera ice cream was the perfect way to end the meal. As an intense lover of ginger dressing on salads and sushi, Akashi hits the spot for me. DON'T BE DECEIVED. Their salads come in a bowl that looks almost too big, but it isn't. It's JUST enough and then some. Their sushi rolls are pretty unique, they have some that truly honor the "fusion" part of the restaurant. The nigiri and sashimi is beautifully presented, and the rolls are always full and extremely fresh. My only thing is the service can sometime be an on and off, hit or miss. Some servers are really sweet and patient and extremely knowledgeable in helping me understand what rolls are what. Some are short, snappy, and always in a rush. Some have forgotten that they were our server at one point... but they remembered to drop off the bill at the end, so that was nice. One of my top places for sushi. Edamame was sweet, spicy and hot! Loved that it had this thick brown sauce which I saved to dip my sushi rolls. Our 3 rolls were fresh, large and tasty. It was very reasonably priced, and the fish was super fresh with great flavor. Came with a miso soup and a salad which also had lots of flavor. This place was very close to my hotel. I was able to get a table on a Friday night but it did start filling up. The prices are very reasonable. My waitress was super friendly and efficient. I had the garlic edamame, very good but messy. The avocado shrimp and crab appetizer was much bigger than I expected, so that was my meal. About 10 minutes after sitting before waiter appeared, and only after we're looking around to make eye contact with staff. Never brought water to 3 guests. After meal served asked for water. Brought 1. Umm, the other 2 people don't get any? Smh. Decent price on basic rolls. Chef's specials tasty but can be pretty pricey. Too much? Meh. Come here often. Recently, sushi rolls are falling apart and have shrunken in size. Can't handle their lunch crowd. Wait is too long and wait staff is overwhelmed and have difficulty providing excellent service. Tired of being served on broken dishes. Isn't there a health code for this? I went to lunch today with two friends. I ordered the kung pao chicken. This was the lunch portion and it was served with soup and an egg roll. First the good: the service was excellent. The not so good: I asked that the kung pao to be spicy. The food was terribly bland. The hot and sour soup was bland and the kung pao was bland. The ugly: The entre portion (kung pao) was small even for a lunch serving. My problem was there was almost the complete absence of any chicken. I was served Kung pao vegetables; I would have needed a foresic scientist to find the chicken. I did not say anything because we had a limited time for lunch and I did not want to cause a bother for my friends. Tried to like this place. Second visit is the worst yet. No one to greet me at the front at noon on a Friday. Sat myself at the bar. Waiter came and gave me a menu within a few minutes. Ordered. Salad and soup came out. After eating half the salad noticed a long black hair in it told the waiter he apologized and took salad away. I also had to ask for a napkin was never given to me. Sushi was not great. Fried shrimp in my sushi was hard. Salmon was hard to chew like there was skin in it.
