Hidden gem. I was pleasantly surprised by this find. It's mixed in a shopping plaza next to a nail shop and an self serve yogurt spot but it's worth the stop if you are nearby. It's a quaint and cozy spot. The inside is beautfully decorated and it's clean and pretty. There was 4 of us and they put us in a back booth. A very roomy booth that fit us comfortably with spaces for our purses and graduation present. Graduation girl gave us suggestions and they were spot on. We ordered an assortment of dishes: Gyoza (dumplings) - pan fried perfectly Lettuce wraps - chicken was seasoned deliciously Edamame - yummy Seafood udon - great portion and huge shrimps Rock n Roll - delicious another roll - love raw salmon (I'm not sure the name bc I let my cousin order) Everything was really good. I hate leaving bad reviews but something is wrong with my food. I ordered the Shaggy dog and chicken teriyaki bento box and all of it smells like pine sol. I think maybe they clean their ginger with pine sol. I can't eat any of it. read more

This place looks like a hole in the wall but it has the best sushi in Texas! I spoke to the owners and discovered they buy the second highest quality sushi grade fish...the highest quality is way too expensive and honestly isn't necessary. Thank you guys for great food and great service! read more

Ming's has been in the neighborhood a long time, mostly as a chinese restaurant but a couple of years ago they added a Japanese grill and sushi bar. Today I tried one of their bento boxes, the tongkatsu (crispy pork) bento. It came in the traditional box with avocado sushi, fried rice, a crabmeat rangoon, a spring roll, and the crispy pork, with katsu sauce and sweet and sour sauce on the side. Also included were a bowl of onion soup and a salad. The salad was the usual japanese restaurant salad, some iceberg lettuce with a ranch dressing. Nothing special there. The soup was a little underseasoned but was very attractive, with fresh mushrooms and onion strings. When you get a bento box the presentation is a big part of the meal. I would say the presentation was just OK. I got the nice box, but the food was just put there. The food itself was good, on the whole. The sushi was decent, the fried rice was good with some soy sauce, and the crabmeat rangoon and spring roll were crisp and tasty. The crispy pork lived up to its name--the tempura had a great crunch, and the pork inside was tender. Yum! I'm not a super fan of the katsu sauce but the meal was fine with the soy sauce. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated and lends a nice atmosphere. Service was polite and attentive. I rated it down a little bit based on some earlier disappointment. When they first opened the grill they called it a hibachi, and priced it like Shogun across the street. But they don't cook in front of you. I do notice that's been corrected. The overall rating reflects some real strengths and weaknesses, but we'll probably go again. read more

Tried it for the first time. It's a few doors down from the Kroger's on 2920 and Kuykendahl. The General Tso's with steamed rice tasted okay. It's a little different from other places in that the chicken does not have the crunchy glaze coating. It's more like the fried chicken from the sweet and sour chicken with a honey and salty syrup sauce poured on top. It was different but pretty good. The rice is regular takeout rice. The unagi roll could have been improved upon. The rice is drenched with the sauce, so the roll falls apart the moment the chopsticks squeeze. The sauce is more liquid than thick. The eel tasted normal but was only slightly warm. The sushi rice was a little disappointing as it was not warm and was very thinly spread. The iced water tastes like tap water. The interior is fancier than I expected. The underside of the sushi bar has flashing colored lights. There are 2 sides of booths and 2 doorways. read more

Sushi was outstanding!!! But... There was a fight or argument of some kind between employees of the establishment. One the of waitresses actually starting throwing and breaking things. It made for a very awkward lunch. After that the sushi took a long time to come out, 1 roll took 45 minutes for the girl I was with and it wasn't good enough to wait 45 minutes on. I would go back though, the sushi I ordered was great. read more

Stopped by for a late dinner with my boyfriend a few nights ago. Apparently everyone in this part of town is home by 9pm, the restaurant was empty. There are two locations listed on Yelp for the same restaurant. Ming's is the Japanese menu and then there is a Chinese menu as well. Sushi was okay. Nothing to rave about. I found the nigiri to be far too expensive in comparison with other restaurants of the same style. Overall the menu was all over the place. Service good though. read more

We noticed this place opened awhile back but never had a chance to try it out. Tonight was one of those nights where you had a sushi craving. We decide to give it a try. Read some yelp reviews and good so far. We didn't go here to try Chinese food but wanted sushi. We ordered three differnt rolls, crazy, crunchy dynamite, and volcano rolls. They are big size and very good. We left the place full after finishing the rolls between the two of us. Overall. We will go back. read more

We sat down and ordered around 6:30, for 3 adults. Ordered 3 sushi rolls. It took 20 min for one roll, then another 45 mins for the other two to come out. The server told us that the sushi bar is busy with delivery orders, so that is why we are waiting.. Really? Call in orders are more important than dine-in patrons?? Order delivery sushi, if you want it in a timely manner. The manager profusely apologized to us, and was very nice about it. She cut 30% of our bill, and said it only gets like this when they are short staffed in the weekends. read more

Nothing spectacular. Had a good wonton Soup that was actually good. Edamame looked sad.... Sweet and sour chicken is as reviewed, mainly batter. Lemon Chicken however was surprisingly good. The sweet and sour pork was OK but the fried rice had a bad taste to it. The service is slow but friendly. Mings used to be a favorite sushi establishment of mine, but it has slowly gone down hill. Service was horrible, sushi chefs were sub par, and to top off the evening, as I was paying I saw a roach inside the sushi case. Never again!!!! read more

Seriously can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review! My family loves sushi and prior to having our youngest baby we use to go out for sushi all the time. I tried this place Bc they delivered about a year ago and it was so much more than I expected! It definitely compares to sushi around the area like Kobe, Kona and Fukata! We order delivery at least once a week. My family loves the Japanese style fried rice, the steak bento and salmon bento box and the soups! I personally like the tuna sashimi, spicy salmon hand roll, shaggy dog, and Philadelphia roll. I have randomly tried other things that I was very pleased with. I love this place and I've been going since their doors opened. Hands down the best sushi around and a great selection. I love their sushi/Japanese menu but I have to honestly say their Chinese isn't my favorite but it's still good. My review is based off the left side of the restaurant. The dressing for the side salad is my favorite, creamy ginger and full of flavor. Sushi rolls I can't pick my favorite there. I literally like almost all of them. Great for sushi in Tomball. It is fairly inexpensive (compared to Shogun, etc.) and you can see the man making it which can be comforting lol. I have had many people recommend this place to me, and my family loves the atmosphere. The cooked food is hit or miss. I do wanna know whether my server was a man or a woman though...who knows these days. read more

I've been to this restaurant many to pick up to go orders, and never had a compliant. Tonight my boyfriend and I opted to eat there to have something fresh. When we arrived the restaurant was empty, and it took 10 minutes to order my food. After placing my order and waiting 25 minutes I then asked someone where my order was. That it self was a task because the hostess did not speak English, finally she understood the word "boss" about ten minutes later a manager showed up and said she was working on it, another ten minutes passed and the waitress came back to ask what my order was. After that I got up and walked out. I don't think I will be returning. read more

It appears the management has changed at what was my favorite Sushi place. Since returning from an extended stay out of town, I have ate here 3 times in as many weeks. The fish is still fresh but I don't recognize any of the staff including the chefs who don't even dress the part. Orders are often wrong from my own experience and hearing surrounding tables. The staff doesn't speak English well and don't act like any Japanese I've ever been around. Time to find a new Sushi bar. read more

We have been to Min's before and had sushi, which is decent. This time we ordered off the menu. We ordered the Family meal, which comes with soup, egg roll, an entree. We both ordered Hot & Sour soup. He ordered Kung Pao Chicken. I got the Spicy Pork. Soup - pretty good. Egg roll tasted pasty but knowing that each restaurant has there own style I let it pass. Then for the entree. Both looked great!! However, when I ate a piece of of the Kung Pao chicken....it was a plate of thick slices of curled chicken fat mixed with vegetables!!! it was gross. I checked all the chicken in the dish - it was all the same. I even picked up a piece and examined it...no meat fibers/all fatty tissue Spicy Pork dish was marginal. I called the manager over. He told me that they only use chicken breast. Then he told me that it was the way "special" they prepare and slice the chicken. Then he said the chicken had been sitting in water too long. I told him then the dish must be undercooked and he offered to take it back to the kitchen to cook it some more. At that point, I told him to just remove the dish from the table and the bill. When we got the bill, they had removed the Kung Pao entree but charged $3 for the small cup of soup and $2 for the egg roll. The reason: We had already eaten those items. If you go here, stick with the sushi. At least you can watch how they prepare your food. read more

I've always gone here, but in the last six months the customer services has really gone down hill. I've gotten the Japanese fried rice with a black hair right outside their WHITE PLATE. Plus whenever I order delivery you have some Japanese lady who speaks broken English try and take your order so half the time the order never comes out the way you expect. Like how hard is it to not put caviar(fish eggs, which I also said both several time) on a freaking roll? On top of everything else you have RUDE manager in there who even gives you a stank eye from time to time while your eating if you complain if your meal is wrong or doesn't taste right. I will not be bringing my service back here nor do I recommend anybody else to do so. read more

Tonight was our first visit to Ming's. The sushi was pretty good, but the service was terrible. The waiter never refilled our drinks and didn't give us chopsticks for our sushi. My husband had to go get drinks and chopsticks himself. The waiter didn't bring the edamame we ordered until the end of the meal-- and it was weirdly soggy and not hot when it arrived. Maybe they were short-staffed, I will probably give them another chance because the food was decent and it is a convenient location. read more
