    Dirty wall in the booth

I've always enjoyed the food at Akashi on 249. However, after the latest visit, I probably won't go back. The booths and menus dirty and in terrible condition. If the front of the house looks this bad, I can't imagine what's in the kitchen. They need serious deep cleaning and maintenance. Staff is always nice and food comes out quickly.

Ambiance: Really nicely decorated interior space with a bar area, booths, and tables. Great date night spot or perfect for a family get together. The bar area was spacious and intimate feeling with tons of wines and an area to sit at the sushi bar. Loved the food - unique sushi roll choices and tons of appetizers/fried rice/entrees available. The plates came out beautifully as well. The main reason I am not giving more stars is because it took us about 30-40 minutes to get the check and pay out. Besides that, service was friendly and the space was clean. There is patio seating outside - however please note that the highway is very loud. Enjoyable food & sushi spot. I would not go if in a rush to order or pay out!

This location was definitely a great vibe for lunch or dinner!!! The ambiance, service, and quality of eats were superb!!! First I must say that the place was super clean and had a great decor/design on the inside. The waitstaff person was very friendly and engaging throughout the whole experience. The portion size of each entree provided was filling. I ordered the Garlic Shrimp w/ veggies which were flavorful and not too salty. The Sushi that was prepared was fresh. The wonton soup was delicious and did not have an old broth taste as if it was made two days ago. If you looking for a great Asian cuisine spot and you are near 249 Tomball parkway area check this place out!!! Enjoy!!

AKASHI plastic ware. The spoon isn't even functional. The fork breaks at any point, not to mention it's crooked and doesn't work well.

Food is good here most of the time, but I swear they have the cheapest, flimsiest to go plastic ware I've ever used. I ask for extras just in case my fork breaks again. Their spoons are so cheap they bend in weird ways that are hard to use and they always forget to include soy sauce. I asked for extra soy sauce last time and they charged me like a dollar for that!!! I was like wtf!! This place must be really struggling or the owners are so cheap they are sacrificing in extra low quality products. Makes me wonder what corners they are cutting with my food!! I've gotten plastic ware from the dollar store that was so much better than this!!

I got the lady Gaga, and hot mama roll with spicy edamame. Everything was average. Not bad but not great either. Spicy edamame was sweet instead of spicy. Asked the waitress about this and she gave me some chili oil and Sriracha to add. Service was absolutely great.

Great fresh fresh sushi, great wine list and excellent service!!!

Great fresh sushi, best rolls, wine, bourbon and above all service!! I would give it 10 stars but review only allows me to give 5 stars.

Great service and food. Had Uni as well which was incredible! The place had a decent crowd and vibe - good wine list!

Trying to workout our favs, so here we go: Crab puffs - delish. They'll burn your mouth, they're so HOT! Egg rolls - delicious, fresh and flaky. Still the best we've ever had. Burning man, no eel sauce (2) Crunchy dynamite add jalapeños no ell (3) Spicy girl, no eel (1) Volcano roll Smoked salmon sashimi (FYI: sashimi is _just_protein. Nagari is w/rice. Learned something new). As always, sooo good!

Great service Great sushi We always ask to sit in a booth. Sushi is always fresh. But their Chinese food is not great. I would say stick to sushi and sashimi.

This was just a great day weather wise here in Texas so we decided on a different type of food . Today was this wonderful Japanese restaurant! Our waitress Irene has worked here for years and was so pleasant and quick to bring everything we needed to our table . The food was flavorful and large amounts that I took a to go box back with me . The interior had such a nice vibe as well . Will definitely recommend to others and I will be back again at some point when visiting Texas

Ahí Tower and Rainbow roll After getting out of the house for a Sam's club TP run, getting our fav takeout was a must.
    Julie B.

Had to make a dash out to Sam's Club and get some of our staples and must haves for the house. Did not realize how hungry we were and the sushi at Sam's Club was not looking as good as Akashi. Sometimes you just have to get your Ahi tower fix! Ahi tower is a layer of sushi rice, the specialty crab they put in rolls, Ahi tuna, caviar, and special sauces Seriously delish

The appetizers were the best thing here, and they were actually very good. However the main dishes were a major let down in almost every way possible. First off, they came out extremely cold. If I didn't know better I would have questioned if that was on purpose. The flavor was okay, nothing special, but could have been saved a little if they were actually spicy. One has the word in its name, and we still asked for it to be extra, and the other we asked for extra spicy as well. Neither came out as such. The server was nice and pleasant but not very attentive. I have a 2-3 time rule so I hope to return and have a much better experience.

Upon arrival, I was told that I could not sit at the sushi bar and eat. If I wanted to order I had to go sit in the common area of this dining hall. After this discussion, I said fine and asked for a menu. They then told me I had to get up and order at the register and view the menu glued to the counter. They took the order of a couple who sat down maybe 2 minutes before me in front of me. I will never come back to this place. They seem to be the last man standing in this dining hall, and with this kind of customer service, they won't last much longer. It's a shame because I love the food and I am a regular at handies and aiko as well. Won't be back to any of them.

The restaurant itself was pretty packed - there wasn't any parking (but they do have an overflow lot you can use). Inside the vibe was nice & upscale. It was surprisingly not intimate & was a little loud. The bathroom hallway was very cool (as the other reviews have said) I got the three course lunch w/ an added chutoro nigiri. The restaurant week lunch was fine, but the nigiri really stood out. I wish they would've had even just one nigiri on the restaurant week menu. The kombu salad was good & had nice flavor without being too overpowering. The hamachi crudo was awesome!! I'm a big crudo fan, but this one was above and beyond my expectations. All of the flavors played so well together & my yellowtail was so fresh and light and buttery. I loved the creaminess of the sauce & how it balanced the acidity of the tomatoes & onion so well. I savored every bite. Honestly the hand rolls left a lot to be desired. The kani hand role wasn't super great. The flavor was mid & the texture felt a bit off. I also thought sake hand roll was just ok.. My chutoro nigiri was also awesome. The cut was beautiful & the fish was super fresh and had an awesome texture. It just melted in my mouth. I'll definitely be back to try the lunch nigiri tasting menu. I'd recommend trying this place, just make sure to get the crudo or nigiri

GENERALIZED REVIEW:…read more Came here with a friend from theatre after a full run--he had this place recommended to him by another theatre friend, so we're just passing on the word. The plaza was a bit confusing to navigate, and I'm pretty sure if the place weren't full of Asian parents and their kids, it would've felt like the shadiest place ever because you have to enter from the back. Otherwise, the plaza had a lot of great-looking stores overall. My first go-to: I've loved drinking Kirin Light ever since I discovered it in Chicago. The flavor is literally so light, with a slight acidity that brightens up my meal. The sake here was frankly also delicious. I didn't order it, but my friend did, and they had it warmed. The flavor was soothing and subtle, almost like tea. It was exceptionally easy to drink, and the ocean-themed ceramicware was a beautiful touch. We ordered two rolls: the Shaggy Dog and the Truffalufagus (a fun tongue-twister). I personally chose the Truffalufagus (which is not fun to spell) because it seemed like the most unique dish on the menu, and I enjoyed it very much. What I liked most about it was that it was subtle yet impactful. I also loved the textures--from the internal crunch paired with the fresh jalapeño to the softness of the fish. I'm glad I gave this roll a shot, and I would be excited to try it again anytime. The Shaggy Dog was great, but it appealed less to my flavor profile. It was a little too rich and creamy for me. I recommended this place to my BF as a potential future date spot--I personally think he would like it... if he weren't the type to enjoy AYCE sushi so much. If they had more unique rolls, I would definitely come back just for those. I was tempted to order the Surf and Turf for this round, but I didn't want to seem like a glutton, hahaha.
