The store is owned by The Record Man next door, which focuses more on vinyl records, so it's a nice combo if you're into all kinds of physical media. There's a small parking lot between the two shops which makes it convenient to check out both in one stop. They have a little bit of everything retro and have games ranging from loose to in box, it was cool seeing so many games I grew up with. The most nostalgic systems were the NES and SNES for me. I came in today, and they didn't have the game (even though it was released about 2 weeks ago). I was offered the game on a console I don't have. Brick-and-mortar store, you had one job. I eventually settled on buying a Mario Galaxy Amiibo. The first register wouldn't take the card, the second register also wouldn't take it. The employee told me to call the customer service number (vs trying to help me resolve this). I went outside and did it, and the automated system told me that there was an error with my gift card and to go back into the store to resolve it. I had zero confidence that spending more time on this would resolve anything so I gave up. Another thing I noticed was that there were 4-5 employees around doing things but somehow I ended up waiting in line for a long time. Will definitely be avoiding spending my money here. As I was giving up on Gamestop I placed an online order for Lego Batman for pickup at Best Buy on my way home.

Everything is priced very fairly and competitive with mainstream retailers, online platforms, and even other retro game shops. They do it all here: retro and new video games, consoles, trading cards, plushies, accessories, and more. I feel truly lucky to have found this spot. It's officially my new go-to for anything gaming-related, whether I need something ASAP, want to get a game disc resurfaced, or just want to pop in and see what's new. Their backroom looks like it's bursting with even more treasures and I'm excited to see how they grow over time. I wish San Francisco had more places like this because the city is really lacking when it comes to true video game stores. We don't even have a Gamestop anymore in the heart of the city. The closest video game store is in Stonestown, which can be very inconvenient to get to. Seemed to work fine to me, but my kid found a problem with the contrast and/or screen when he tried to play Christmas morning. We took it back to the location on Campbell Ave where I bought it. Showed the manager/owner and provided receipts. He said they would fix the DS because it was sold "refurbished." He said it would be ready in a few weeks, after the new year, and took my contact into. Never heard back. Called the store after the first month came and went. No answer. Months go by and my kid keeps asking about it. I keep calling the location but then I read on their instagram that the shop is permanently closed. But they they're still doing business online. So I reach out to their instagram and email the address on their Shopify, where in fact they are now selling a metallic blue DS, just like the one I bought in December! Still no reply. Hope to hear back now that I'm posting about this problem.

I'm 56 yo full disclosure, I cannot read the damn title spines even with glasses, you know what else I have at 56 other than my eyesight? Actual money to spend at your store. So, fix this, I just walk out after 5 min of eyestrain and will check eBay instead.
