*RUN! STAY FAR AWAY* My family has been exclusively going to this auto shop for service & repairs on four vehicles for 5+ years. Recently I encountered a problem with my new ford transit where a code was triggered related to a coolant bypass valve. I figured that l'd bring my van to this shop to get a proper diagnosis as my family trusts them. I wanted to be back on the road ASAP. One week and $1100 dollars of repairs later ($200 part + $150 diagnostic + $150 labor cost PER HOUR!!!) I picked up my van, was word for word told good luck & within 1000 feet down the road I noticed that the same dramatic bucking and unsettling driving problem was persisting. I scheduled a time the following day to bring in the vehicle to be checked out again. Once I returned home I opened the hood of the vehicle to inspect the engine bay for any visible problems and I found disconnected air intake components, exploded plastic parts, a completely cracked air filter housing, an overfilled coolant tank, and brake fluid spilled on my engine. When I brought the vehicle to Akiki the next day and showed the staff what I had found under the hood the lead tech belittled me, told me the problems outlined above wouldn't affect the way the van drove, and then he proceeded to call me an a**hole, cuss me out, tell me to deal with the f**king problem myself, closed my hood and stormed inside. Managers weren't much help, they voiced partial responsibility and offered no solution other than a free diagnostic that would unfortunately take the entire day to complete. Absolutely no resolution, just a scapegoat excuse of being willing to fix the problem that they weren't willing to fix without me paying for a completely different repair + part + labor. Long story short, I can't imagine that the techs even looked in my engine bay. This inattention has already cost me $2000+ ($1100 repair + $500 rental vehicle fee + unfixed problem estimated at over $500) Too bad the last owner sold the business, this place has plummeted downhill since then & doubled in price. I drive an imported japanese microvan, it's by all accounts very weird, pretty obscure, and somewhat old, but the folks over at Akiki are always up to working on it, and diagnosing any problems. Initially when I had bought it I called around to several big and small shops and nobody would touch it regardless of what shape it was in. I soon came to find that many shops wont work on older or imported vehicles because in all fairness its not great for business. Finding parts is more difficult, things may not be up to modern US standards, and older cars just have more problems which make it hard to guarantee good work. But like I said - from the jump when I went in for my first state inspection - they said I was more then welcome to bring it in for any repairs or routine maintenance. This is the place that practically built my car from transmission to alternator, batteries, belts etc. but this last experience left much to be desired. I did an oil change a week before I had done issues. They gad to replace the oil ( therefore charge me for more oil) suffice it to say I was sent home with a an oil well spewing from my car for a whole month, Considering I recently moved out of Boston. Mind you this oil was not at issue. I believe there was Soddy work and I was left to hear the brunt of constantly putting oil in my car every two days for a whole month. I had an absolute nightmare with a flat tire, couldn't change it to a spare (because the last time I had my car serviced at NuCar Norwood they mangled up my locking wheel nut and didn't tell me, so when I tried to take it to get a new tire at a different place, they couldn't get the wheel off!!!) I called Akiki to get them to tow me to the West Roxbury Toyota dealer, and when Sam arrived he suggested that he try to get the wheel nut off for me, and he had it off in less than 5mins. He kindly changed my flat tire to my donut, and put the flat in my trunk. This cost me less than a tow, but he genuinely wanted to find the best solution for me, rather than just taking my money!! This kind of care is SO RARE, especially for females who don't have family around to help!!!!! THANK YOU SAM, Thank you AKIKI, you have restored my faith in car mechanics!!!!!! The moron who towed my truck (bmw x5) left it in PARK instead of neutral and completely broke my transmission!!!! They tried to blame it on the shop it previously came from, However after it broke down we scanned it and there was no indication of transmission issues until it arrives at their shop that THIER driver towed. I put in a claim with AAA, they always recommend shops , adjuster can out who was in cahoots with the shop.... In the end AAA denied my claim. Now we have a shot transmission that we have to pay for all because the stupidity of the tow truck driver. How do you run a business ripping people off when the fault is the shops? read more

As always I am totally satisfied with my service at Akiki auto repair. I phoned AAA for service and was relieved to see an Akiki technician show up. The battery technician was kind, patient, and helpful. Unfortunately my truck battery could not be charged and the vehicle had to be towed. He called for a tow truck once he made sure that we were safe and comfortable. The tow truck arrived in record time (15 minutes). That technician was very impressive by trying several procedures as well to start my truck before towing it as he made small talk explaining how he loved his job and is happy to be part of the Akiki family business. Once there was no other choice but to tow it he asked if we were able to call for a ride. I stated that I would send for a Uber and to my surprise he not only waiting with us, but helped load my bags and even carried my granddaughter in her car seat to the uber. I didn't think it could get any better than that until he safely strapped her car seat in the Uber! Thank you so much ROB for being our angel in disguise on that first hot day, and creating a wonderful experience at such a difficult time. Happy to say that the Akiki mechanics were able to replace my starter in a record time of 3 hours. Once the shop closed they were able to securely leave my truck in there parking lot to be picked up since I did not want to come early Saturday morning. My experience with this repair shop was not positive at all.it took 2 weeks for someone to contact me about the repair status of my Camry. When I was contacted the gentleman on the phone informed me that there we additional damages to my car ( I would caution you to take photos of your vehicle and have the manager witness it prior to leaving your car at a repair shop) In 2017 my car was brought in for a rear fender bender. It appeared to me that someone had drove my car and were involved in an accident but Akiki tried to cover it up. I would not recommend Akiki. Recently purchased a used car from Akiki. I am very happy with it and over all the sales experience was great. After owning the car for 2 months the exhaust began having problems. Basically the pipe between the front and rear muffler broke. I called Akiki and they told me to bring the car back. They replaced the entire exhaust (not just the broken piece) free of cost. They really have been great and fixed the car without a problem. They told me that there business is all about integrity and they lived up to that. I took my car over to these guys on a Wednesday they told me it will be ready on Friday. So I called the front desk and I asked about my vehicle depressing at the front desk told me that the parts for my vehicle weren't in and they probably wouldn't finish my car until Monday. Then about 10 minutes later I called again and I talked to the guy who ran the shop and he tells me that my car should be ready by 5 that day so I say okay about a half-hour later I called back and speak to another person at the front desk then she tells me that the pots not in in my car won't be ready till Monday. Then I call back about five minutes later to talk to the manager over there and he tells me yeah between 3 and 5 we're going to have your car done. So I decided to go over and check out what they would do it with my car lo and behold I look in the back of the garage and my car sitting in the lot after this guy told me it was up on the lift and they were working on it. I asked him how much it would cost he said it would be about about $1,700 to replace the AC compressor in a serpentine belt. So I started checking around ask how much the normal repair for this would be they told me about anywhere between 150 and $250. Therefore I decided that perhaps I shouldn't have my car worked on at this particular business so I called the guy up and I told him to cease and desist that I was going to come and get the car he still insists the cars up on the lift, stop by this time I'm sitting outside across the street and I can see my car in the back it hasn't been moved since 2 days prior so I decide to go in and get my car back give me a bill for the work that they did and the tow. I look at the bill and they were charging me $887 for AC compressor I go down the street could auto parts store about two miles away and I buy the AC compressor for $370 brand new. So I asked him to tow my car back to where they got it they said it'll be back there by 5 the same day. I get another truck to tow it but they have to tow it to the location first which they didn't do for twenty-four hours later. The whole time I had my car at the shop I felt like they were holding me hostage to get the car back and expected me to allow them to work on the car when they hadn't even started to evaluate it but they sent me a bill for $387 for the tow in the so-called evaluation of the vehicle I paid them and I left they didn't release my car as I said before until the next day I called them up to complain and they listen to it partly and then the woman hung up on me and that's the way they do business. I was assigned Bruce (one of the service guys at the shop) to my AAA call. After the day I had, I was a certifiable hot mess, tears and all! He came within the expected time, was speedy in diagnosing, and was overall so friendly, informative and pleasant. When he realized I didn't actually need to go to the shop, and needed a battery instead, he helped coordinate that with another staff (Alberto) from akiki and helped start the process. I cannot say enough positive things about both guys, or the shop they represent. Took care of my car, price was right, and have a 6 year warranty (also they come to you to replace the battery, can't beat it). Thank you so much for turning my day around from an absolute meltdown!! Well I got into an accident on October 29 my car has very high miles and it's a 5 speed ; long story short I got into the accident my car was at 200,201 miles . I was in a rental for the whole month of November , got my car back in November 26 after paying them a big amount of money. After getting my car back I realized my work phone was missing and my car came back with an extra thousand miles which mean it came back at 201,225 , and I'm sure someone was using my vehicle and a galaxy s9 was paired to my Bluetooth . I don't have a galaxy s9 ; but my work phone was a galaxy note8 which I never connected to my pair because I have a radio that has apple car play ! So meaning I have an iPhone for my personal , so I gave them a phone call to let them know about this problem when I say them meaning A worker there named (CARLOS) I was connecting with him for the whole month they had my car ! So 4 days after having my car my alternator went in my car -_- ; I called akiki again to ask Carlos about this he gave me the run around ! I paid to get my alternator fixed ! Then 3 days my clutch went in my car ! I haven't had my car for even 2 full weeks! WHY IS MY CLUTCH GONE ? I've had my car since June if I didn't know how to drive Manual My clutch would've went when I first got the car ! We are 6 months down the line and my clutch is burnt after a month of AKIKI having it ! Clutch went December 9th I called akiki and spoke to a guy named (JAMES) which had a nasty attitude and was disrespecting me on the phone ! And not even trying to help the situation ! I told him about my missing phone , my car being using a thousand more miles , someone connected Their Bluetooth to my car , my alternator, NOW MY CLUTCH ! - i told him I want to get all my information for my car he told me I'm not allowed in the shop or he's going to call the cops ! So I ended up looking up the owners phone number his name is ( Elias Akiki ) I tried to tell him what was going on he dismissed me and huge up the phone in my face December 10th, after paying them 2,300 dollars ! Had a flat tire so I unfortunately had to take it to this place because of its location and proximity to my home. I really didn't want to take it there because I am not impressed with work they have done on my mother's vehicle. She has spent thousands of dollars on services with them only to have to bring it to another mechanic to have the same work done over. I don't know how they were able to convince AAA to make them a preferred provider because I question their integrity. I was informed very early in the morning (7:17am) on 5/19/21 that my vehicle would be ready by early afternoon. The receptionist called me to tell me that they had found other problems with my car and that they could give me quotes. Once I heard the quotes, I told them I was all set and I only wanted to take care of the tire issue. However, I never received a follow up call and when I called the receptionist...she had a very "oh well that's not my problem" tone and pretty much told me I would have no choice in the matter it would have to wait til tomorrow. I asked if I can come get my vehicle today and she told me to hold on and then told me no. Like how are you holding my vehicle hostage when all I want is my car back since you're not able to provide the service I asked‍. I was very annoyed by this as I see that this was part of their scam. Because I did not choose to fix the other issues that they found all of a sudden my car was no longer a priority even though it was in their possession since 1 AM in the morning. So I literally have to wait Two business days to get one tire on a van fixed. That's the reason why businesses like Raymonds on blue hill Ave will always make money because they're efficient and quick (I like these places). Oh and a hint on customer service... The man they sent to change my tire couldn't get it off he tried everything in his night while being heckled too. In the end I got a tow from your company and the driver was fantastic handling everything and getting me the hell out of there. It takes a lot to get me nervous, never in my life do I want to relive breaking down there again dealing with drunks at 8 am. Once towed to the shop they fixed my tire right away. I can never ever thank the driver enough getting me out of there or the shop with their quick service! The first guy who came out to change my tire but had issues was great also even when the drunks started with him as well running their mouths I can't thank this company enough and thank you to the tow driver coming. There should be an option to give zero stars. This place is not only overpriced, but they are slow and provide poor quality repair services. They had our vehicle in their shop for several weeks. They did not offer a loaner car at first. We paid, out of pocket, a huge amount for a rental car. Only AFTER they had kept our car for a ridiculous amount of time, did they then offer a loaner vehicle. When our car was finally "repaired", according to them, ALL 4 doors had been removed and replaced with cheap, after market, doors. These "new" doors were not even installed properly. They do not line up properly and do not open & close easily and completely. The rear, passenger side door, now, hardly ever closes fully, on first attempts, with regular force. It catches & remains slightly ajar, and must be pushed, with greater force to make sure it's closed. The expensive speaker system, mounted within the original doors, was also lost with the cheap replacements. The hinges on the doors either cause them to hang open, or swing back, nearly injuring legs or feet, when getting in or out or car. Even though the accident only involved the driver's side, near the middle section of the car, akiki workers also managed to damage something on our trunk hood. It opened and closed fine, prior to being in their possession. After their services, the trunk door no longer opens fully when the key fob button is pressed. It just unlatches, and remains down. When the trunk is manually opened, it no longer remains in the upright position, it sinks back down, about halfway, AND the trunk light was tampered with, and no longer functions on / off automatically when trunk is opened and closed. Their car wash is equally customer UNfriendly. When the attendant was informed that their automated laser cleaning machine arm banged and scraped against our passenger side-view mirror, twice, before we had to frantically open the window, and pull the mirror into its folded position: he denied it happened as we described. He insisted that we were at fault and must have moved the car during the wash session. We've used their car wash many times and have NEVER moved our car inside the chamber, during the wash service cycle. --- Unsolicited advice to akiki management: A.) Don't remove, and keep, more expensive, better quality, original parts, and replace them with cheaper versions, WITHOUT informing, and receiving permission from, the vehicle owner. B.) Fix your car wash machine, and don't allow your attendants to falsely accuse customers of wrongdoing. We will never again use akiki, for any service whatsoever, in the future. Update: It is hilarious that a representative from akiki posts a reply to my initial review, claiming they "have no record" of our business with them. Here is a clue to you sir / madam: Obviously, I would never post my ID details here, for the world to view, so - of course, you do not have access to my personal data (name; address; date of service; etc.) Therefore, you could not possibly find a "record" of anything. The only thing not making sense is your absurd denial. Our insurance company recommended your name, on a list of service providers. We chose your service due to the fact that, at the time of the incident, (when a speeding driver broadsided our vehicle, on the driver's side, we resided less than 15 minutes walk from your Hyde Park address.) You may continue to falsely claim that we are not former customers, if it suits your agenda. We are now seeking a new insurance company, directly due to their recommending terrible service providers like yours. Good day to you. read more
