Akira is an experience!!! Yes this store has an overwhelming amount of items to look through but they also offer personal shopping/styling, through their employees. When you walk in you are greeted by some very stylish employees. They always ask what you are looking for. What type of event you may be shopping for. I love that they offer suggestions and also set up a fitting room with all of your items. They continuously check on you. The items are pricey but that's what comes with purchasing statement pieces! Every single item I have ever purchased from Akira gets me endless compliments and attention! Anytime I need something cute I come here. If you are like me and don't want to show up to your event and see someone else in the same fit as you COME HERE! Run, don't walk' My two favorite stylist are Q and Anthony. Today I was also helped by a guy from Columbus Ohio. I did not get his name, but he was very friendly and helpful. Akira is definitely a "that girl" type of store! I was actually at Nordstrom's and took a stroll out of their door to get a few more steps in. I happened upon Akira right next door. This store is huge! Everything looks like it will glam up/glow up a persons life, and make them the life of the party! Special occasion outfits are everywhere: rhinestones, pearls, metallic, sequins, you name it, it is here. The atmosphere was extremely festive and they only opened on Saturday so this is a brand new store. The prices seem to be a pretty good value. Among many "glows" my only "grow" is that they should strive for friendlier service. Only Elijah noticed I was alive and said hello! Elijah turned out to be delightful and competent/professional. When I return, I will be sure to purchase with him. Elijah is also a stylist, and he will make appointments to help achieve the look a customer seeks. read more

Terrible shoes that are not comfortable and they don't have a good return policy nor good customer service, reminds me of back in the day certain stores love for you to buy but when you encounter an issue with the merchandise they don't stand behind good ethics, don't buy shoes from here they are a nightmare on your feet and physical wellness!! read more

The shop has a ton of variety for females. It would be a great place to go for new fits for a weekend out or a girls trip. I will note that I had an issue with a pair of shoes I purchased where the metal piece came off on the second time wearing them. So, not sure of the quality of the shoes. However, the accessories and clothes gave no issues. read more

The Good: This store has very trendy, affordable clothes of decent quality. The retail associates were very friendly and helped me choose items that went with the aesthetic I wanted. I'm changing my style so this was no easy feat, but the customer service was stellar and I ultimately felt seen and supported. The Bad: Though the retail associates were friendly and helped with style choices, they often vanished throughout the store, leaving me wondering when they were coming back with the clothes I'd picked. The associate told me she'd take a few items off my hands (which she did) and that she'd put them in a dressing room. She didn't mention which one, and I felt confused as my anxiety grew. Embarrassed, I asked another associate which dressing room my items were in. She was nice and told me. I wish this had been a little less stressful for a new shopper, such as myself. read more

I try to not leave negative reviews; however, the encounter I experienced at Akira Pentagon has to be shared. I went to Pentagon Mall on May 21st to purchase an outfit for a family event. I often enjoy purchasing with Akira and spend hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise with each visit. When my sister and I went to leave, the alarm went off. We went back to the register without being instructed for our items to be checked. When we got to the counter we asked the same cashier to check our items. He checked now for a second time and found a sensor on an item, removed it and said we were good . We trusted his evaluation of the merchandise as he's familiar with the sensors and left. When I made it home I was surprised to see the "feels right fluffy trim corset" had a sensor on it. This was very disappointing as it was the item I had planned to wear that evening. A few days later on May 24th my sister and I went to Akira in Montgomery mall. I continued to spend hundreds of dollars as I normally do and support the business. I went to Akira in Pentagon after as I didn't find as many items as I needed. While at Akira, my sister and I had our items rang up by a manger. We briefly explained what happened during our last visit in Pentagon mall Akira on May 21st. After I paid and received my receipt, I politely asked the cashier(who also introduced herself as the manager) if they were able to compensate me for the inconvenience due to the sensor being left on my outfit from the 21st. She stated "me offering you a refund is compensating you for your inconvenience" and said there was nothing she could do since I didn't have the item with me. I kindly shared with her the inconvenience of me having to drive back to the store and missing wearing it to the event I purchased for has already happened. She replied "if I really wanted to wear it, there's plenty of ways you could have got that off." I was astonished at her response but mostly the comfortability she had exposing she has knowledge on removing sensors without the appropriate sensor remover and encouraging me to do so also! The shirt is also white, I pride myself on having respect for others and establishments. I did not want to risk damaging the merchandise by tearing it or risking the ink exploding on the item, I'm sure that certainly would have resulted in me not receiving a refund. I kindly tried to have her reach some understanding about what I was expressing, she then gave me the most dismissive scoffing face and said "girl what do you want me to do you don't even got it with you." I shared with her to please pull up my account to view the amount of funds I spend with the store. I asked for her name and she identified herself as "Jalissa" I asked for her last name and she said "You don't need to know my last name" and swiftly turned around with her neck turning first and her body following as if the wind blew her away. Jalissa does not represent the brand well and made me feel as though the tone and verbiage she was using was specifically due to my appearance. If I had been a customer of a different background she would not have responded that way or volunteered her familiarity with crime. Jalissa please do better.
