With all the time I spent in Rochester I missed the Highland Park Diner. I went with my sister. Fresh coffee brewing smell when you walk in the door, bacon/breakfast smells. Definitely old school food and service. The coffee was great served in a thick old time mug. We sat at the bar with service right there. I ordered a breakfast special. Eggs over medium, bacon, home fries, Italian bread toast. A great way to start the day. We were going to the Memorial Gallery of Art so needed some calories to enjoy the walk around to see exhibits. My sister ordered eggs benedict with Canadian bacon. She doesn't eat meat so the bacon was mine. Both meals were excellent. I enjoy this diner and have for about 35 years. Their seafood omelette is worth traveling from Buffalo for, and really all of their food is quite good. The waitresses and waiters work hard. Parking is tight, but the capacity of the diner is pretty small so if you can't find a spot to park, chances are you won't find a seat either. They keep the coffee cups refilled, and the coffee mugs are the heavy ones with the thick rims that I like. Portions are ample. Prices have gone up quite a bit, but they still get five stars and I will continue to come back. read more

Over the years, I've been coming to eat here. The food has been consistently good, the staff is always very friendly. They used to be open all day, but post-pandemic everything changed. Now they are only open until 3:00 pm every day of the week. Only breakfast and lunch are available. I love coming here for a leisurely breakfast at the counter on mornings I don't have to rush into work. They offer French vanilla flavored coffee in addition to the standard stuff, and a big breakfast menu. I usually go for something simple like grits and eggs, and it's always tasty. It does tend to get busy here as the diner is not huge and it's a popular place. The parking lot is often frantic (it's at a busy South Wedge intersection after all), so take care when backing out. read more

I don't know if I can add to all the glowing reviews of this joint (it's definitely a joint). There's a 1950's/ 60's decor which I find myself getting lost in every time I come here. Unfortunately we were very disappointed the California Omelet Turkey, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, onion, avocado & Swiss cheese There was no Avocado at all in the omelet, Fruit tasted old and left out and the home fries were burnt. After many trips to the Highland Park Diner - I am super surprised I haven't reviewed! I love it here and have enjoyed a whole bunch of different noms. From caloric pancakes, to caloric milkshakes, to caloric eggs benny...I have revelled in each and every bite. The atmosphere is the best part of this diner as it is built inside of an old repurposed car. Most things on the menu are delicious and they are known for doing old school milkshakes. I overwhelmingly order breakfast here, but they have a huge diner style lunch selection as well that I know people enjoy. This spot is insanely popular, and can get very busy during peak breakfast hours on the weekend. There is a small parking lot for ease of use, as this located on a pretty dense road at a busy intersection. Explore the gems of the neighborhood and settle in for a lovely experience at HPD!
