They now have desserts from Chicago!
    Steve P.

This gem is located around the corner from my house, so whenever I don't feel like cooking, it's my go-to. Owned and operated by a Greek couple and a father, they serve mouthwatering meals six days a week. While I was in college, The Acropolis was under different ownership. I wasn't able to eat there much as I was paying my own way. It was good then, as it is now. The gyros are very popular and very good. Topped with generous amounts of meat, everything spills out of the pita. Extra napkins needed. When I want something more substantial, I order the pastitsio, a Greek take on lasagna. Savory and cheesy, it hits the spot. A little noticed item is the lemon rice soup. Tangy and thick, it's perfect on a cold winter day. My absolute favorite are their fries. Using a thick cut shoestring potato, these rectangles of perfection are fried until they are crisp on the outside, but still fluffy on the inside. I am always tempted to just order a couple of these.

Decided to try this restaurant in Lafayette Indiana today. There were lots a great ratings and I love Gyros so I gave it. A whirl. As soon as I entered I felt the Greek presence of authenticity. The gentlemen asked me immediately what I wanted to order and I was shell shocked by the VAST menu. I went r for the Athenian style Gyro and it did not disappoint at all. The sheer size of the sandwich was impressive and the fries to boot were fresh and super hot! I also topped it off with a piece of Baklava that was super delicious as well. It was good enough that I might make the trip to bring my wife to give it a shot. It's a long drive from my house but the better to get a huge appetite to give some sides a try that look yummy as well!

Good greek food! Chicken was a bit dry, otherwise great! The veggie gyro was just vegetables (no falafel), so not the best option. The fries were served hot and were yummy! Service was fast!

This is the place where I fell in love with Greek food. I started coming here as a kid and always ordered the gyro. I since moved away and have been gone for twenty years. During that time, I did a lot of traveling, including to Greece and the food at Akropolis was just as good as any authentic meal I ate in Greece. Upon returning home for the first time in twenty years, this was one of my first stops. While ownership has since changed, the food is just as good as I remember it. I've only ever ordered a gyro here because I just can't get over how good they are! They are so full of meat! I do look forward to exploring more of their menu. Family owned and operated, the service has always been excellent with both the previous and new owners.

Overall score is a 2.4 Honestly there is nothing in the area to judge against so this family owned and run joint gets a higher score. It's not great or awesome or like WTF I need more. It's jut ok that hit my Greek fast food gyro need, a guy could go to Arby's and get the same meat. I say that because it's shipped in log Gyro Meat. With that said. Friendly and good / decent service. I openly stated it was my first time there. And we received a warm greeting. I ordered the Gyro Supreme not noticing American cheese; that's my fault. Honestly should not be on the menu with American cheese. So ordering please read carefully. The gyros were both stuffed with meat and filling. Slightly stale pita despite flat top warming. We also ordered the hummus and pita. Same stale pita but the hummus was really really good. Here is my big deal; the preformed conical meat nonsense that they warm up day after day despite a slow day. Just stick it back in and it processed bulk meat. It isn't good at all. If you want a Gyro in Lafayette, please go to Arby's. We will try another time for a good dish. Maybe dinner is scratch made!? It should be.

This is why I love Yelp. Never been to this town and looking at reviews found this place. Had a hankering for Chicago food so wanted Italian beef. Ordered it and the Dolmathes. Was not disappointed at all. Worth my trip here. I hadn't had either one in a long time and boy were they good. Slap yo mamma good. I'll be back.

Akropolis has great gyros. I no longer live in Lafayette but when I am back I come here for the gyro. I've been twice this year. Great Greek fries too!

We planned to wait until 5:30 but we were told it was fine and we were seated immediately. The service throughout our meal was outstanding. Our server was knowledgeable and answered our questions about menu items. She was extremely friendly and personable. We ordered several appetizers including my favorite, Saganaki. The hummus was garlicky and wonderful. We all ordered different entrées. My choice was the vegetarian pastichio. Our entrées and all the sides were excellent. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert so we will try again next time. The ambiance was wonderful, the food and service could not have been better. We all agreed that we will be returning soon.

It happened to be the first warm day, and so I could tell I was probably the first customer to sit outside for the season. Even so, the tables and outdoor space were clean. Food: I got the meatballs and they were good! I enjoyed the feta on the inside. I felt they were a little dry and could have been more tender. The pita that accompanied was perfection! The french fries were also very yummy. The feta, oil, and seasoning were delicious. While the food was good, I'm not sure $30 for these two is reasonable.

After deciding we'd like to have something along the lines of gyros we found this great little place. They are amid construction and chaos outside but that didn't stop us from finding our way in, we were hungry. We were welcomed right away and got our drink orders. We chose hummus which was served quickly and was oh so good. Super fresh, drizzled with olive oil and served with warm pita bread- which was refilled promptly when we got low at no extra cost. We both ordered gyro bowls, we never order the same thing but it just sounded good to each of us. The plates came and everything that was supposed to be hot was hot, what was supposed to be cold was cold and every bite delicious. I wast expecting anything special of the fries, I mean it's a Mediterranean place, so I felt like they were just kind of a side to the dish. They were amazing, the seasoning just right ... yum! The portions were plentiful and we took leftovers home. We don't often get dessert but the baklava was calling so we got one to share and the staff brought us a little sample of another dessert they were considering for the menu Something along the lines of a coconut macaroon that was super buttery and sweet. My husband got the Turkish coffee to go with dessert and if you've never had it, it is a sweet treat in itself. We both walked out saying we want to come back next time we are in the area, or we may possibly make the trip just for the meal if we get a hankering for Mediterranean food. The staff said they would be closed for a short time for some remodeling, but that wouldn't take long. It was a few weeks ago when we were there so it may have all already happened. This is certainly a place to stop by!

Located in a cute blue house, this is conveniently located near Lucas Oil Stadium and there was a huge concert going on the night we were there, but we were still allowed to park in their parking area. Inside has nice lighting and is pretty plain but has a homey feel. The menu contains many items we're familiar with having visited Greece twice. So I'm going to be a little critical here with my review of the food. I ordered the Greek Spaghetti, which I have had in Greece. Unfortunately this was not at all what I was expecting or anything like Greek spaghetti. What I was served was basically Prego spaghetti sauce with pieces of gyro in it. Traditional Greek spaghetti (or Makaronia me Kima) is a wonderful sauce that's seasoned with all kinds of memorable spices. It's definitely not pieces of gyro meat thrown in a sauce. So while this was fine, it was not what I truly wanted or thought I was getting so I was pretty disappointed. My husband got the chicken souvlaki and that was better but still not quite like what I remember. The meat was almost smoked and lacked some of the Greek spices that gives it a distinct taste. And the tzatziki...well, let's just say it tastes like whipped feta and was lacking in flavor too. I did enjoy the pita bread. Our service was underwhelming as well. It took a while for anyone to notice we were there and needed to be seated and the server basically did the bare minimum, never even asking if we wanted our water refilled. Overall, it was fine. If I had never been to Greece, I may have a different opinion but this isn't someplace I really want to go back to.
