Came for the baba ganoush (baba ghanouj?) and left more than satisfied. For real, I can eat baba ganoush with pita as a meal. I HAVE eaten baba ganoush with pita as a meal many times. The baba ganoush at Noor Cafe is great, and comes with warm pita slices, plus pickled vegetables on top. I was kinda more hungry than I thought, so I also ordered a falafel pita sandwich and a glass of Pinot Noir. The falafel pita comes with a lot of different vegetables and sauces, and is fresh and cool from the veg, but warm from the falafel and pita. It's also huge! This is something you could definitely split if you wanted to, or eat by yourself if you're especially hungry. I was a little taken aback by how small the dining room is at Noor Cafe. There are four tables, and one of them was filled with toys, which was adorable. Some kid came from out back to play with them, and I was reminded by the adage that the best Asian restaurants are those where some kid is playing or doing their homework in the dining room. I think that might be true! Noor Cafe is not Asian, because they offer Mediterranean food, but they're also not-not Asian because they also offer some Indian options (kaathi rolls, paneer). I mentioned that I got a glass of Pinot Noir here. Yes, they offer beer and wine! According to their wesbite, Noor is an Indo-Greek cafe featuring Meditteranean, Indian and Greek dishes. The menu had a nice eclectic mix of these flavors and several things stood out to me. I knew I wanted the baba ghanoush. I am new to this dish this year, but I really enjoy the taste of roasted eggplant, tahinin, lemon, garlic and spices. Who knew! This dish was served with several warm slices of pita bread. For my main dish, I was torn between a classic gyro sandwich (you can literally never go wrong with a gyro) and the falafel sandwich. For the record, I would refer to both of these as wraps, but it is listed as sandwiches on the menu. Just so you know its the same thing. After a short discussion (I've been known to speak to mysfel), I decided on the falafel wrap. I was happy with my choice. A word of advice: Bring a friend! The servings are plentiful. The wrap was stuffed with lettuce, cucumber, tomato and onions with a generous dollop or two of their in-house made tzatziki sauce. I didn't even get the combo. The wrap and the baba ghanoush were more than enough. I couldn't eat it alone. It was also delicious and filling. And Noor Cafe serves a selection of beer and wine. I enjoyed a delightful pinot noir with my wrap just to feel a little indulgent in the middle of the day. Noor Cafe isn't very large, but has adequate space with a walk-up counter to order and 4 or 5 tables in which to sit. The staff was very kind and helpful. I enjoyed how even though you order at the counter, she came out a couple times to check on things. I chose to sit and eat inside and enjoy the quiet space with some delicious food and a glass of wine. This cute, little cafe almost requires some company to sit across from, having a leisurely conversation as you share some delicious Mediterranean food with one another. Grabbed a pick up order when our home dinner was a failure. Their online menu needs more details, heck even small details would be helpful. No idea what we are getting. The owners of Petra cafe have changed and the new name replacement is Noor Cafe. Noor is an Arabic word which means light. We went in looking for Petra and ended up ordering a platter and a falafel sandwich. I must say I was beyond impressed with the juicy, tender, delectable meats and the garlic sauce combo. The bed of rice was colorful and so flavor packed. The bite of meat with a spoonful of rice and a topping of garlic sauce was heavenly and so good. We thought we would have leftovers with the portion but we ended up eating everything anyway. Don't let the casual vibe distract you from the fact that this family is serving absolutely delicious kebabs, house made sauces, and generous portions at an incredible value. The chicken kebab is one of the best pieces of chicken I've eaten in a restaurant in a very long time. The lamb is kebab is tender and tasty. The beef kefta is all meat and seasoned perfectly. From answering all of our questions/ making suggestions for accommodations based on our preferences, to the incredible presentation & quality of the food, to the immense flavors & (very generous) quantity on our plates, 2+ weeks later & we can not stop thinking, or raving, about our meal. Despite being an-order-at-the-counter setup, the owners/ chefs served us like a sit-down & were genuinely interested in our experience & feedback throughout the evening & each course we tried. My husband doesn't have a lot of experience with Mediterranean dishes, & came in thinking he did not like lamb... but we both fell in love with everything we tasted (well, savored). AND my husband was raving about the lamb to the point that he plans to go back for lamb kebobs, only; he's a convert! The food here was sooooo great. My friend and I came for lunch on Monday and split a gyro with seasoned fries and this delightful dish. I had such food envy she shared with me because my gyro was good but this chicken was next level. They also have Diet Coke in the can, which is my favorite beverage.
