Found Cross Roads in Attica on the way home from visiting the NC Buffalo park. Very family and locals oriented. There used to be so many of these types of restaurants. Glad we found this one. Massive menu with every breakfast option right up to a variety of international dishes and everything in between. We had lunch and started with the fried mushrooms which were huge and served very hot. We also tried the Philly steak sandwich and a turkey wrap. Both were good sized portions and very tasty. If we pass through Attica we try hard to eat here. The fried chicken is absolutely delicious. I had the 4 piece chicken dinner and my wife the senior chicken dinner. This is a friendly, family business. Staff is always super friendly. A busy place especially on a Friday evening. A large clean restaurant with plenty of seating. Booths and tables. Clean restrooms . Stopped on our way home from turkey run to Fort Wayne. Excellent service and truly homemade food. The omelette, skillet, pancakes and waffle were wonderful. A side of bacon is four slices and substituting the fresh fruit for potatoes was definitely the right call. Both my kids actually cleaned their plates for once. They even had the right kind of hot sauce (cholula)! Even though there were no tables when we arrived at 1130 on an August Sunday we only waited 5 minutes as the dining area is huge. We came here just before returning to North Carolina. This place was bustling with people on a Sunday morning. This is definately the place to come if you want to run into people you know in town. Several people obviously meet here on a daily basis. This place is the "Cheers" of Attica, IN. I had the Homemade Sausage Gravy over Pilsbury Biscuits. Dang this is awesome ! For the life of me, I cannot find sausage gravy near Charlotte, NC. So when I return to Indiana, this is one of the things I am sure to order. For some reason, they just have salt and pepper gravy, or saw-mill gravy in North Carolina and whenever they DO attempt to make sausage gravy, it is flavorless and has just a couple of pieces of sausage in it. Our family sometimes meets in Attica & when we do we always choose Crossroads because everyone leaves happy. Their menu is so vast that even if your tastes drastically change from day to day like mine you'll always find something that suits. Along with selection the portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable-what's not to like? Indiana loves their tenderloins and Crossroads does them wide and meaty. We love their fries: lightly coated, crispy & hot. Lots of home style choices you won't find at big chains. This morning we all met for breakfast & even that menu is huge. We all tried something different. Everyone was totally pleased. The 2 biscuit B&G covered a huge plate, my meat lover's skillet was all around excellent (lots of meat, (2!) eggs just right, yummy hash browns underneath all with a sprinkle of cheese) plus it came with 2 pancakes (omg-yeah), whatever variety breakfast plate one guy had filled me with jealousy-that thing was monstrous. I told him I'd considered stealing it from him but chose not to in favor of family unity...this time. I don't mean to overemphasize the portions but their corresponding prices are all reasonable for what we got. Not a single plate of ours was over $10 (just worked out that way...dinner menu has a few higher priced: steak, seafood, etc as you'd expect). The additional drink prices were a bargain compared to what's become normal in 2023 at most restaurants. Service has always been excellent any time we've stopped. The wait staff has always been cheerful, helpful & great to accommodate any special menu requests. Ambiance-kind of like what I grew up with at many restaurants or diners back in the day. Nothing flashy but kept neat & clean. I'm sure this building has existed for decades with occasional updates. Seating is comfortable, tables are clean and once your meal comes you'll be focused on your fantastic made to order plate (thanks to the hard working cooks). This place is always busy but I've never seen anyone waiting for a seat. There's a great feeling of community here too as many regulars & staff casually chat & old friends pass by to say hi. We stopped in here to have dinner on our way to see my husband's dad. We have been here a couple of times for breakfast, but this was our first dinner experience. The service was fast, the portions were huge, and the meals were pretty good. Refills on drinks were few and far between. That is my main pet peeve at any restaurant. This is a diner that offers something for every palate. Home cooked favorites along with delicious hamburgers are available. My favorite is the chicken salad supreme, so much goodness I have enough for lunch the next day. The prices are very reasonable and the wait staff is friendly. A solid family restaurant with only a few pitfalls. I have been going to Crossroads for years, and I have seen this place swap owners many times; ordinarily such high turnover is worrying, but I am pleased to say that Crossroads--under its current ownership--is neat and well-managed. Many of the dishes are robust, tasty, and simple. And, although the ingredients are not of the highest quality, the prices are very cheap and the portions are fulfilling. The soups, which are made fresh daily, are also excellent. Their French onion soup is fantastic. Breakfast is by far the best experience at Crossroads. All of the dishes are great, and the coffee meets my expectation. Breakfast is also served all day. Lunch and dinner, on the other hand, is largely good with some exceptions: One, any dish containing their steak is dreadful. Di not order steak at Crossroads--it is thin, wispy, greasy, and devoid of flavor. I reccommend to the owners that they pare down the expansive menu, and they should start by eliminating steak. Two, the burgers are unseasoned, and the buns are dry. Crossroads needs to better study how to make satisfactory burgers: Loosely pack the beef into a ball, flatten it gently into a patty, dimple the center, then add some salt. It is not good that such elementary steps do not seem to be followed at Crossroads. Three, the menu is too large. I question why a rural family restaurant serves shrimp scampi, philly steak and cheese, and Asian stir fry. The menu needs a paradigm shift. I will, however, make an exception to my distaste for the eclectic menu: The gyros are really good. Keep those things if possible. Attica really has a dearth of sit-down restaurants, and I like Crossroads. I hope they stay for a long time. read more

We stopped by for a quick business lunch. We got lunch specials, baked steak for my wife and lasagna for me. We ended up trading because the wife didn't like hers. I liked this because I got to eat about half of each. My wife thought the baked steak was a little bland but I thought it was good. The lasagna reminded me of Jackos (in Danville). I stopped in the other day with my friend. Food portions were a decent size but unfortunately, i found a hair in my food :0. I didn't tell her though. I just kept eating lol. We both went to the bathroom and after my friend relayed how the women's stalls lacked privacy. The food was good though :D. Our waitress always made sure to refill my water. I drank like three glasses. Hydrated king am I right? But the meal I had was supposed to come with soup. I wasn't given soup :/ but I got some chicken noodles from the Chinese place in Purdue for dinner! I was, however, able to get a waffle after 1 pm, which the menu says ends at 1 pm so I was grateful for that! overall, there were a lot of old people in the restaurant. This is obviously THE place to eat in Attica. A friend and I were passing through while on a road trip and stopped for lunch. I had the grilled pork tenderloin and he had the julienne salad. The food was standard fare for this kind of establishment, nothing to write home about, but tasty. Our waitress seemed harried but the service was fine, especially given how packed they were. The place was definitely dated, with wallpaper peeling off the walls, the smell of smoking...everything pretty old. So I ordered the "best" steak, which was still cheap. Not only was it full of gristle, but it had zero seasoning and wasn't even as good as a poor steak that I could make at home. Came with canned green beans. Simple foods with good ingredients. If you happen to be in Attica for hunting or "tough muddering", this is the place to go in the morning. They have this cool family style table that fits about 30 people and you can chat with the locals while you eat. They also have booths if that freaks you out. Most people are very friendly. My preference is the yummy corned beef hash which is seared on the skillet until slightly crispy. I probably would score higher but the coffee is a bit weak and at least some of their pies come from the thrift shelf from the Sarah Lee bakery (Saw a tag). Really??? read more

Second time there. I ordered Prime Rib and when the order came, it was Rib Eye steak. I ask the waitress if that was Prime Rib and she said that's what was placed at the window. and she didn't know what Prime Rib looks like , she doesn't eat it.
