This was my first time going to the West Side Diner. The food is much cheaper than most sit down breakfast restaurants in the West Lafayette area. The portions are also large. All the food tasted great but the biscuits and gravy came out looking questionable. It was still very good! I recommend coming here if you want a quality homemade tasting breakfast that won't break the bank!

Another good breakfast spot in West Lafayette. More diner type of feel, service was fine, you pay up at the bar and there is usually a wait to get seated. Parking is in a small lot. Food was good I didn't have any complaints other then my pancake and my husband's biscuits & gravy came out way late, nothing to rave about but also not disappointed at all.

This is the biggest cinnamon roll I've ever had honestly. It was so soft and delicious. I got it as takeout and the icing came separately so I got to add it to my taste. I loved eating it so much. I will say that when we went there to pick up our order, it was ridiculously busy and we had to wait so long to get our food and we didn't order much so just be prepared for a wait. There is a place to sit and wait but it felt like people were walking around everywhere. I didn't really feel like the service was too considerate but the food is good. I also get the biscuits and gravy from here and find them so delicious.

My only trip to WD was for breakfast on a very busy Sunday morning. The facility is small. The tables are squeezed together tightly. Unfortunately I sat in what ended up being a high traffic area for everyone. So my chair and coat were constantly being bumped. On top of that the dinner is very loud. You won't find a relaxing meal here. I also found it very odd that people had to enter in behind the counter area to access the restroom. Obviously layout in this dinner could be improved. That said...the meal was pretty good! The menu is decent size. There was enough of the usual breakfast items to pick. I had the corned beef hash and eggs plus a one biscuit side of gravy. The hash was very good - better than most places. The hash didn't have a strong corned beef flavor. However it was cooked to perfection - slight crisp on the edges. I added plenty of Tabasco sauce which cane standard at the table. The gravy was a bit bland. I had to spice up with a lot of pepper. The biscuit was split and "smashed" to the plate. I've never had a biscuit that was so thin. That created a little bit of a tough texture to cut - just odd. I had the sour dough toast which was a bit dry. I had hoped that it was made fresh on site. I don't think it was since it didn't have a fresh and moist flavor. My wife said her English muffin was probably the best she has had (fresh) at a dinner. I was impressed by the POS system used to take and process our order. Very easy to do which created an Informative and fast check out. I was also impressed by the team working here. I saw a lot of teenagers and 20 somethings working. Very few older adults. I assume this is a family business. If so...they did an excellent job at hiring and training good employees. Our waitress was very attentive as she could be on a busy day. There was a lot of staff on hand to handle the rush. I was most impressed with the bus boy who wiped the crumbs from the table into his hand instead of onto the floor. This young man frequently washed his hands throughout the shift (as the sink was in view of the whole dining room). I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a fast paced dinner experience.

Waiting for our food for too long. I don't know how hard it is to cook some eggs and pancakes. Waited 40 minutes for the plates to come out.

But I was visiting West Lafayette, and it was morning, and I was feeling a little "under the weather," as my Polish grandmother would say when she went too hard on the Bud Lites the night before. So breakfast at Triple XXX it was, because I could walk there from the Purdue campus, and this restaurant is a West Lafayette institution. I got the Triple XXX Breakfast Special: two over-medium eggs, bacon, fried potatoes and wheat toast. And it was good, you know? It was simple and hearty. I especially liked the fried potatoes. But what really took it over the top is when my server, who was incredibly friendly, told me that she could bring me some root beer jelly to go along with my wheat toast. Record scratch. Say what, lady? Root beer jelly? Yes, Triple XXX makes their own root beer jelly, and they also sell it by the jar. (I bought a jar.) They are famous for their root beer, which is sold nationwide, so I guess it makes sense that they would also make root beer jelly. It tastes exactly the way you would think it would. It tastes like root beer! It's delicious. The seating at this restaurant is interesting: All of the seats are bar seats, and they face the middle of the kitchen. There were no tables or booths that I saw, unless you wanted to go outside and sit at one of the picnic tables on the patio. I liked this seating setup, because I could watch the action happen before my very eyes. The black coffee was very good. It better be, at a place like this! This is the kind of greasy spoon restaurant where old timers stay a while with a cup of coffee and a newspaper. (There were three such people doing something like that when I visited, as a matter of fact.) It's just a comfortable part of the West Lafayette community.

I ordered a double cheeseburger with just ketchup to taste the burger alone. My wife ordered the peanut butter burger, and we ordered curly fries to share. My burger was great, the flavor and quality of the fresh ground steak makes a big difference in the flavor being so good. My wife is a fan of the peanut butter on the burger, and we both like the bun used. We both got root beer, which is a step above all other root beers I have tasted, which also probably has to do with quality ingredients. I am a fan of Triple XXX, and so is my wife. We will be back to try out the other menu items and breakfast!

The biscuits and gravy are some of the best I've had...light, fluffy, and melt in your mouth. Gravy could be a little more peppery but you can add more if that's your thing. We went on a Sunday about 12:30 and it wasn't busy. The waitstaff was very friendly and the food came out quick. It's out of the way and hidden but certainly worth finding! To my dismay, they arrived completely overcooked and unappetizingly brown. To add insult to injury, my toast was burnt to a crisp, nearly charred to a shadow of what it should have been. When I pointed this out to the waitress, her nonchalant response was, "It's kind of burnt," as if there are acceptable levels of burn. In my opinion, when the toast is predominantly black, it clearly falls into the category of "burnt." The overall quality of the meal was abysmal, and it was evident that the staff couldn't have cared less about my experience. While I was not charged for the meal, I wouldn't have paid for it even if I had to. There's simply no way I could bring myself to eat here again. Curiously, my husband ordered a similar omelette, but his came out perfectly yellow and appetizing, along with toast that was actually edible. This made me wonder if my request not to burn my food inadvertently insulted the cook, leading to my meal being intentionally scorched. After sending the dish back, I received not a word of apology or even an offer to prepare something else. It was a complete lack of customer service. This review, without a doubt, has to be the most negative I've ever written. Normally, I refrain from posting bad reviews because I understand that everyone can have an off day. If a restaurant attempts to rectify their mistakes, I tend to be forgiving. But in this case, the food was nothing short of garbage on a plate, and the indifference from the staff was glaring.
