Wanted takeout since it was a rainy night. I looked through Grubhub, and this restaurant came up. I decided to call the restaurant instead of ordering through the app because I had questions. The man who answered the phone was so nice and patient with my questions, and I completed my order through him. I got the Buffalo Wings and the AK Calzone. Since the weather was bad, I am sure they had a lot of take-out orders. The food arrived and I was surprised by the amount. The portions were pretty big. The chicken wings were fried and then tossed in the Buffalo sauce, and they were coats well. Unfortunately I couldn't finish all of them. The calzone was really yummy. It was filled with toppings and cheese, and the dough had a good taste to it. I could not finish all of it as well. Not because I didn't try, it was a lot of food. Tonight I ordered my favorite Italian sub and forgot to select the toppings on the Grub Hub app. Thinking that I had selected them, I called to tell them the sub arrived with no toppings. They very nicely explained to me that the order came through without the toppings requested but still sent me a new sandwich and were super fast at sending me the new one. First time trying AK's... I've lived in Waltham for six years now and my boyfriend has rejected EVERY SINGLE sub place we have ever tried. I saw the reviews for AK's and suggested we give it a go. He walked in with the food and said, "we don't even need to start eating I've already decided this is a great place." He said his experience with pickup was quick and easy, and the gentleman working inside was kind and friendly. He gave two thumbs up to his steak and banana peppers sub and enjoyed the whole thing. I got a veggie calzone and added eggplant -- PHENOMENAL. I also tried a side of the mac and cheese. A little under-flavored for me but I just added a little cheddar and it hit the spot. We also tried the seasoned chicken fingers, and got extra sauce on the fingers per recommendation of a previous review. They were cooked very well and super delicious. Since we were staying in a hotel, I ordered via the restaurant's website and then called to confirm everything. The website was very easy to navigate and the male who answered the telephone was pleasant and efficient. When our large cheese and bacon pizza, AK Special pizza, and chicken wings arrived, the delivery person was very friendly. The pizzas and wings were still very hot.
