I am a calzone guy, and this calzone was definitely on point. You can see that the calzone is substantial and enough to feed several people. The bread was crispy/butter on the outside, but soft on the inside. Referencing the attached image, you can see that the calzone Is firm, and not greasy, or messy. This is a steak bomb calzone and the peppers and onions are large cut, and cooked just enough. There was just the right amount of cheese and steak, and the steak was quality, not chewy, or containing gristle. They even provided 2 large sides of marinara, which to me, is critical to a steak/cheese calzone. The calzone is well presented and one of the best calzones I've had in a long time. If I had to change anything, I would have only asked for a napkin, and the recommendation for this establishment to either brand the deliverables and/or give a flyer with recommendations for the next order! read more

This is my first time ever writing a review, and I wish it were a good one -- but here we are. I ordered the Everything Calzone, and honestly, it was so bad I feel like Italians would invade the U.S. just to stop stuff like this from being made. First off, there was broccoli inside. It wasn't listed anywhere in the ingredients. Broccoli in a calzone makes about as much sense as putting pasta in sushi -- it just doesn't belong, and it tasted weird. Second, the sausage and mushrooms were not done right. Ingredients like that either need more time to cook or just shouldn't be there. They tasted half-cooked and off. Third, why was the tomato sauce on the side? Calzones (and pizzas in general) are supposed to have the sauce inside. Serving it on the side just made the whole thing feel even more wrong. I respect people doing business, but charging $20 for something like this should be illegal. read more

We have ordered from here a few times but had a very disappointing experience today. I ordered a Hot BBQ Roast Beef sub. I also preferred it toasted with peppers, onions and provolone cheese. When the order arrived, the sub had no sauce whatsoever, was cold and not toasted. My wife also a ordered a meatball sub, with a request to be toasted. Her sub was soggy, untoasted and without any cheese. The meatballs also had an off flavor. Neither of us finished our meals. I can be pretty forgiving of quality issues, but it's very hard to recommend a place if they go 0 for 2 on just getting you the item you order. read more

If you order something don't expect it to come as the menu has described it. Order a caprese salad supposed to be mixed greens and instead I got a bunch of iceberg lettuce with a little bit of mixed greens green peppers. They might as well have just taken a garden salad and thrown on a couple slices of mozzarella. I would give this a 0 if it was possible. Worst steak tip dinner ever. The menu reads marinated steak tips with rice, steamed vegetables and a dinner roll. When our dinner arrived we received a pile of steak (if you could call It that) drenched in marinara sauce with steak fries. I called to inquire about getting a replacement because that is not what I ordered and they said "we can give you a discount for next time". No, absolutely not. When I said no we would like the meals that we ordered he said "well we are too busy". Worst thing you could ever say to a customer that you delivered the wrong food to. So they ended up sending the new plates over to us after 30+ minutes. When we got them the steak was nasty strips with what looks like mustard that had tried to be wiped off, a pile of raw veggies and a stuck together clump of white rice. I will NEVER go here again. I grew up in Waltham Lena's was owned by two brothers, 1999 or so they sold the business it was the best sub shop in Waltham. Not anymore. I have been there around seven times, recently and there is nothing special about this place. I ordered ham and cheese tomatoes mayo onions. Two slices of meat, one slice of cheese, terrible, and costly for what was actually on the sub. I don't recommend this place. read more

Lena's and I have a love hate relationship. I love... their Caprese salad with fresh motz. cheese, tomatoes, and greens. I order it with the house dressing instead of the pre-packaged raspberry vinaigrette. I also enjoy the Panini/salad combo. There are a few different flavors and it comes with a fresh side salad. Sometimes they are a little greasy, but really good. When really hungry, we've ordered the pasta with garlic bread. I hate... that they charge a $1 delivery fee per order, even when four or five people from my office order. And we order a lot! I also get frustrated when we ask for dressing and they ignore us. I've only had their pizza for delivery but it is by far my top pizza delivery pick in Waltham. Better than Upper Crust, better than Moody St, better than New York Deli. Thick, chewy crust with generous toppings - try the Lena's Special (standard everything pizza), the Marengo (chicken, fresh mozz, tomatoes), or the BBQ chicken -- the trip of which is the default pizza delivery to my office. Bonus: look in their menus for a coupon that includes either free mozzarella sticks or fried ravioli for orders over $25 and partake in deep fried goodness, free of charge. Oh yeeeah. read more

OMG Lena's is the best. I moved to Waltham in September '07 and have been searching for a decent pizza place -- what's the deal with Waltham pizza, anyway? I've tried Moody St. Pizzeria, Athens Pizza, The Sub Way, Cappy's, Prospect Cafe and all the chains...and I don't think anything will ever beat Lena's. I've only been there twice now, but my pick-up order has been ready in under 15 min. both times, and the workers are so friendly. Here's what I've tried so far: White pizza Bianca pizza Extra cheese pizza Bacon mashed cheese sticks Bacon cheese fries Garlic bread Everything has been so tastey -- their pizza dough is wonderful, so soft, flavorful and chewy at the same time. The garlic bread wasn't at all dry like you'd find at other places. Come to think of it, I've had Lena's pizza three times, but the first time was delivery...on which there was a $1.00 fee (totally worth it). One time, when I ordered the white pizza, it wasn't what I was expecting. Having spent some time in NY state, I expected a white pizza to basically be a garlic cheese pizza with no sauce. She offered to make me a different pizza, but I just brought it home because it was my own fault for not reading the ingredients on the menu. And you know what? It was still delicious. The pricing is fair for what you get. A little higher than many places, but nothing to freak out about, plus their food is better than most anyway. The only drawback is that parking is not easy. But you can always park at one of the businesses across the street for a short while if you need to. Also, the restaurant is small and they only have one booth, so don't go there expecting to sit down. They usually have a movie playing, though, to pass the time if you're like me and just walk in to place your order. At dinner a couple of weeks ago, I was asking people if they knew of any good pizza places in Waltham. One person exclaimed, "Lena's! You must try Lena's!" If you're looking for a decent pizza in Waltham, this is your spot. Don't let the appearance of this place turn you away - even though it may not look fancy the pizza is excellent. The four cheese pizza tastes as good if not better than the same pizza at a more expensive sit down restaurant. Lena's is conveniently located in central Waltham, right on Main Street and has quickly become my go-to delivery spot for pizzas, salads and steak tips. Actually it was our first meal when we moved to the area and we even ordered back-to-back days because it was that good. They have a fantastic menu which is a lot more diverse than your average pizza joint but what makes them really stand out is the quality of the food. The pizza was one of the best pizza's I've had in Massachusetts. The crust was nice and chewy and not too thin, just perfect. Great flavors too and the toppings tasted great and were generously placed. Not overly greasy either which nice. And as good as their pizzas are, their steak tips dinner plate ($11.99) was really, really good. Amazingly tender, charred tips with some mixed veggies and fries or rice. There's also a complimentary option available for them to add onions and mushrooms if you want (do it!) - delicious stuff. But wait, there's more! The wraps are great, the salads are great, all in all, there's nothing sub-par about this place. It's a fantastic and competitive shop that stands alone in the area where everything else is average at best (okay well maybe not Carl's - that one is great too) It's all affordable and you can even place your orders online on their site. The deliveries are always fast and the staff friendly as well. Oh and they have a ton of coupons available on their site as well. Solid. read more

Lena's makes a great pizza! It's not my favorite pizza place, but it's easily one of the best around. Love their pepperoni - thin, slightly spicy, and perfectly spaced on the slice - not too much, not too little. Staff is friendly, delivery is fast (granted I live around the corner from them, but still...fast is fast!), prices are good, location is convenient. If you're looking for a great thin crust pizza to try out, give Lena's a buzz. It's worth it, seriously. read more

*EDIT* Decided to have a change of pace and ordered some Lena's the other night. Our order arrived after 90 minutes. Obviously, it was cold and terrible. Lena's is 1/2 mile from my house. I called the manager to explain the situation and he was apologetic and said he would credit my 'account' to make it up to me. Apparently the driver had trouble finding my address, or thought it was further away. -------------------- I've tried most places in Waltham. This is pretty good. The Bacon Mashed Cheesestick appetizer is amazing. It's essentially a small pizza covered with mashed potatoes, cheese, and bacon. Sounds weird, but delicious. For Pizza, I have gone with the Hawaiian, which is better than most places because it also adds bacon to that. I've also had the Marengo pizza, which was so-so. The downside, for me, of Lena's is the Calzones. They are pretty flat looking, and dry. I've tried them twice, and both times the calzone has been flatter than pancake. I like mine to be heaping with topings. It's not like they taste bad, but I wasn't blown away. If you are a calzone enthusiast, I suggest Anna's BBQ chicken, Cafe Angelinos, or West Newton Pizza. read more

My girlfriend and I were staying in Waltham and ordered Lena's. They delivered a delicious Hawaiian Pizza to our hotel, and the driver gave me a call because the staff wouldn't allow him to go upstairs to the room. The pizza was hot, delicious, and arrived on time (they estimated 45 minutes, and it took almost exactly 45!). We will certainly go to Lena's again when we are in the Waltham area. read more

I have to admit, I love Lena's. I just have some complaints in the last year. 1. The quality has gone done. I just got toasted ravioli and jalapeno poppers and they were gross, bland and the sauce was horrible. I am sure the sauce came pre-made but it shouldn't taste like it came out of a tin can. 2. They began to skimp on toppings. I got a white buffalo pizza (they still make an awesome one), and there was no chicken. They may have put 1 piece of chicken per slice, but last time I ordered one, they covered the entire pizza so that there were no gaps between pieces. Its not necessary to cover it but put enough so I can get a couple bites of chicken per slice, not 1. Even with those complaints, I will just order zero appetizers and just go for a white buffalo pizza. They are the only ones who makes a decent one in the entire state, prolly anyways. And the prices are decent, a large costs $15 and its enough for two people and it tastes good, even without a buttload of chicken. read more

I highly recommend the margarita pizza , and the subs are always made perfect. The employees are so kind and everything is made quickly but is good quality. They well deserve 5 stars read more
