I dont even know where to start this place is really good! First of all this is 24/7 and food is deliciouuus!!! So i been here like a lot lately i'll just gonna write the review about my last visit! We were out partyin hard with my friends, of course when party ends at 4 in the mornin you usually kinda hungry but instead of goin to some kinda diners i suggested Aksaray! So let me tell you about this great authentic turkish place! Tiny space, right next to the entrance they have marinated meat already on skewers you just need to choose what u want so the chef will put it on grill right away! The have just 4 tables (so tops all together they could serve like 12 people, and may i have your attention pls just 1 table was available so we were not the only crazy ones who decided to have some turkish food at 4 am! We got in so i ordered some haydari and babaganoush (u can see the pic of it bellow) for the appetizers and asked to server bring us a lots of bread lol for entrees we got: Adana kebab - 1 Chicken shish kebab - 1 Lamb shish kebab - 1 Everything to share of course and every kebab was served with rice (turkish style with orzu) and house salad! I'm so sorry i didnt took a picture for you cause as soon we got i even forgot about everything around lol They dont serve alcohol and this is not BYOB place but its not a big deal! My friends got Ayran in bottle i got Tamek's (brand) Sour Cherry juice in can! Everything was delicious, stuff super friendly, doesnt matter what we asked them we got it literally in the next second! I just wanna say this place is not for dates and not super fancy this is just really good spot to get some kebab in the middle of the night! So when we asked the check everything in total was $40!!! Came in for dinner on a Friday night, walked past the kitchen area where all sorts of kebabs are on display, into the small but clean dining room. Ordered the small appetizer sampler which had 4 types of eggplant, delicious creamy hummus, white beans salad and a some type of yogurt dip all served with some excellent warm bread. When we ran out of bread they gave us more without asking. Next came the mixed grill plater with lamb chop, chicken and lamb kebabs and gyro meat served on a bed of soft rice pilaf with a salad. stumbled in here randomly and did not expect the food to be fantastic, but it definitely delivered. i had the gyro platter, which came with rice, and a cucumber, tomato salad. he also brought over some warm turkish bread which was amazing :3 my bf had the same, in a sandwich version which came with a radicchio salad. the yogurt sauce was great with the meat and they're open 24 hours?! i will crave this VERY badly on drunken nights. will be back! they also have a lunch special :D hm. also hoping they have turkish coffee. read more

Open so late 5am? The chicken gyro and chicken kabab are my favorites here. Meatballs and the lentil soup are also good. Fresh bread is great and to die for. It's a small place and I usually get my order to go. For $8.00 you can't go wrong. The dinner dish comes with Shepard salad and rice. Always pleased. I'm thinking about going here now. read more

Currently known as Aksaray (can't remember former name) underwent a complete change by extending their mini cafe into a sit down restaurant with more tables, which is beautiful now. The waitresses are nice when needed and food is delicious as always. read more

I just wanna say that I used to go here all the time. Their food was/is great, but the service and business mentality is definitely off. Whenever I physically go to the store and order lamb gyro plate, I ask for extra sauce. Let's face it, there's never enough in that tiny cup. The point is that they never have a problem with giving me an extra one or 2 cups. And now all of a sudden when I order delivery, they want an extra 50 cents for each cup. Are you kidding me?! And to make things worse, the cups ended up being barely filled. Definitely not a great way to cut corners. read more

First time i tried this place today. Because the place normally i go to which was closed today. I gave this place 3 star because the food. He gave me old bread and chicken was not fresh cooked. I take the ride all the way here everytime when I'm craving for this type of food. It's so much better than the bigger local places from me on Bensonhurst/Baypkway like Istanbul Cafe&Restaurant. What you must get when you're here: Mixed gyro platter - everything taste so perfectly together on this place and my favorite is the yogurt sauce they give! Been here many times before renovations. Used to be the best place to get food at night. After renovations place looks nice. Quality of food went down significantly. Had lentil soup that was very watery; bread was ok, cold and if they bake it just a little more - would be good. Main course - lamb gyro. Gyro comes with Rice that is too oily/fatty and a spoon of salad. Lamb was ok and nothing spectacular. Here is the catch: I was about to pay at the cashier when I ordered but they like "oh, just pay at the end". They include a service charge of 10% in every check!! Question: why? For what?? Solid neighborhood Turkish restaurant that grew in size after renovations this year to provide ample seating for customers wishing to dine in. Even though the nearby competing restaurant Memo Shish Kebab gets more customers, I prefer the taste of Aksaray's food much more and would recommend it. Their sandwiches are delicious. Try to get your sandwich in Turkish bread and not pita bread. My favorite is the köfte (meatball) sandwich. Despite looking small, that sandwich packs a punch; it is very filling. Their lentil soup is delicious and comes with Turkish bread. Their grape leaves are okay; they're not that long and thinly wrapped, so I don't usually go for this dish. One thing that's interesting and sets Aksaray apart is their hot home-cooked meal corner. Most Turkish spots in NY just serve kebabs and mezes and call it a day, but Aksaray has a few hot meals to select from for the day if you feel like eating a more traditional Turkish dish. read more

Great food & the service is amazing. I popped in for an impromptu lunch there after a busy day of shopping. I had the eggplant salad (delish) & falafel lunch. The falafel was so crunchy on the outside & perfect texture on the outside. I'm not the most experienced in Turkish food, but I really enjoyed it. Considering what you get, it's worth the price but I'd prefer to go elsewhere. The chicken gyro plate with salad and beans was just $9.00, which is cheap but it didn't really fill me up. The best chicken shish kebab on rice EVER!. i love it more than that famous halah spot on 53rd/5th. hole in the wall spot, love that i can go there and get good food at midnight. Got a small mixed gyro platter and it was definitely a lot less food than the other Turkish joint down the block. The rice was cold, meat was only slightly warm and the bread was stale. This place is open 24/7 which already deserves 5 stars. The food is surprisingly fresh. The cigars are one of the best I've ever had and comes out super crunchy. I usually get the mixed gyro over rice and salad. It's also really cheap which is always great. The only thing that bothers me about this place is that they are really stingy with their white sauce. I've been cheating on Memo's with this spot now for the last few months with ZERO guilt. What sets them apart for me is the freshly made pide. I saw what looked like someone's Turkish mom or auntie forming the dough balls one afternoon. The bread looks and tastes how bread was meant to look and taste. My DNA does little cartwheels when I dip it in their hummus or in olive oil. Their salads are reminiscent of those in the old country with generous amounts of shredded feta on top. I always order the small Kefte, which gives me three burgers over rice and salad - more than enough to feed two people. I've also had their kebabs, which are well seasoned and come with all the fixings if you get the platter. The only thing I didn't care for was the falafel, which I found to be a little overdone. I needed a lot of hummus and water to get them down and once they were, they sat in my tummy for hours. I would rather save the gastric real estate for more pide!!!!! read more
