Came here for a pre-wedding day family lunch and for the most part it was okay. I remember their food being better years ago when I lived here. First off, the meat was so charred & dry, hommous was just OK & not a reasonable portion for the dinner size & the garlic sauce was a soupy consistency! The salad was the only thing that was OK, but then how much can you screw up a salad?? Seems they also changed their pita bread to the round bread which I prefer the other regular pita bread. With such competition & selection of Arabic restaurants in this area, I won't be coming back here again. I have to say that in my opinion this is one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in metro Detroit. Every dish we have ordered here tastes so amazingly fresh and flavorful. The pitas are so fresh and hot that a puff of steam escapes when you tear them open! Even very basic dishes like the lentil soup and Fatoosh salad have so many layers of flavor, and the Baba Ghanooj has the most smoky, savory flavors. The grilled meats are always perfectly grilled. i have been going to Ala-meer in Dearborn on Miller rd for over 7yrs and today was my first time trying the location on Ford rd. I was very disappointed. this cannot be the same restaurant. A friend kept telling me that this place had the best arabic food and pretty much made me try it. We walked in and the decor was pretty fancy but everyone was dressed casual from what I could see. We sat down and there were things on the menu which I didnt normally see at Arabic places. To tell you the truth I couldnt decide what to even try. So I got the chicken combination plate with lentil soup and fattoush. The soup had a decent flavor, but to me it was very thin compared to a hearty thicker soup. The Fattoush was okay, didnt have the right kick to it for my liking though. I did however like the baskets of fresh pita, it was warm and good. My friend ordered an order of hummus and hummus is hummus so that was good also. When my meal came it had Chicken Shawarma, Chicken Kafta, a chicken kabob and something called chicken cream chops or something like that. The chicken shawarma lacked the flavor that I like that grilled moist feel with a hint of sweet and tangy. My shawarma was dry also. The kabob was decent but still it was dry too. I didnt care for the chicken Kafta as it was bland. As far as the chicken cream chops it looked like a boneless chicken breast cooked in some kind of batter. It was served with BBQ sauce, yes you seen it right BBQ sauce. Did care for that either. The garlic sauce was garlicky but runny, I prefer more of a paste consistency. So all in all I wasnt too happy here. To me it was over priced and bland. This isnt to say that its a bad place, it just wasnt for me. I dont see myself going back anytime soon. read more

Really conflicted as we enjoyed the food. The service however was terrible! The waiter seriously seemed bothered to wait on us. We struggled to get his attention. We couldn't get water refills because he just did not come around. His attitude was very indifferent and was not courteous. They have great Lebanese food. I love getting the boneless chicken with the Fattoush salad and fries and hummus. Even the rice with lamb is amazing. They have amazing food and I've never been disappointed with their food. There are times when I order the boneless chicken, some pieces are burnt..so make sure you tell them not to burn your chicken lol. I also love that they're slowly updating this restaurant. There are many and I'm sure that for specific dishes or at higher price points there's going to be something that's more of a stand out. That said, Al Ameer is reliably excellent. You can count on quality, quantity and value. The bread is fresh out of the oven and the fresh juice and smoothie selection is a pleasant surprise for new visitors. If I'm in Dearborn, I'm probably there for dinner at least one night. People are nice and portions generous so locals will have something to snack on at home after. read more

Portions are large and the pita is plentiful. You can order anything on the menu and it will hit the mark. I also got the sense that there is a fairly large "off-menu" available for more regular/traditional customers. You get the feeling its a place that is a destination, not just for locals. This place has a delicious shawarma platter! Both the chicken and meat varieties are cut into little bites with tons of flavor and crispy bits. The hummus is a creamy consistency and fresh. The fattoush salad includes plenty of tasty sumac and fresh, crunchy pita chips. Don't even get me started on the garlic sauce and fresh pita bread. Does anyone have a breath mint? It is absolutely worth dragon breath for this tasty treat. Despite living a few miles away for decades, it was my first visit on a Tuesday night and the server was super accommodating. He offered to answer any and all questions and surprised us with a mint tea on the house mid-meal to welcome us to the restaurant. Of course, the portion was huge, so I had enough salad, bread, garlic sauce chicken, meat and hummus for a meal the next day. So, I think the price was reasonable. The only cons I found were the parking lot. Don't park in the front with a big car or truck, you might not get it out without a crunch...beware that it's a narrow lot. But the chicken shawarma was the burnt, dry, chicken-sawdust from the tray around the bottom of the rotisserie skewer. It was not edible unless you are at least part dog. And they gave me a lot of it, clearly trying to get rid of it. There were exactly 3 normal bits in there. That tells me they aren't above trying to get away with selling you what's destined for the garbage-bin if they run out of something. This is my problem with many Arabic restaurants in Dearborn.
