As someone who travels frequently for work and has spent considerable time in the Middle East, I have high standards when it comes to authentic food. Sheeba exceeded every expectation. The food was outstanding. The lamb was incredibly tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The fresh bread, rice, and overall quality of the meal reminded me why Dearborn has become one of my favorite food destinations whenever I'm in Michigan. What made the experience even better was the service from Murad. From the moment I sat down, Murad was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. He got my food out quickly, checked on me throughout the meal without being intrusive, and before I left, he thoughtfully brought me a wonderful cup of tea to finish the evening. His warm smile, positive attitude, and professionalism made a great meal even more memorable. Restaurants can serve excellent food, but great hospitality is what keeps people coming back. I dont know what's happening but every year the quality of this place is getting worse. This used to be the best Arabic restaurant in dearborn, actually I would say in the midwest but everytime I go now there's something wrong. The service was not bad but not what you expect from a good restaurant. The waitress was overwhelmed with the amount of work she had on her hand. No one to greet upon entering, tables were sticky, shawarma which was one of the best items on their menu now just ok, broken and chipped cups, I am not sure what's happening but someone needs to look into the issues at sheeba, as I really dont want this restaurant to fail but the way it is going, it will. read more

The staff were very warm and welcoming from the moment that we entered the restaurant. I really liked the beautiful decor and soft Arabic music that was playing in the background. Our server, Shireen, was very polite, knowledgeable, and helpful with our menu selections. My friend order the lamb fahsa and I ordered the shrimp seltah based on our server's recommendation. The food arrived at our table piping hot. It was delicious! This is one of the best restaurant meals that I've had in a long time. The food had a very authentic and down home feeling to it. I also really enjoyed the large, warm rounds of tanoor flatbread that was served with our meals. I plan to come back to try more of this wonderful Yemeni cuisine. It's hard to find good Yemeni food in the US, but Sheeba's strikes all the right tones. We had the lamb fahsah and lamb haneeth and they were both delectable! The fahsah had plenty of meat and gravy and came out steaming like it should - and the lamb in haneeth was so tender that it was falling right off the bone. Sunday morning @ 10AM and we were the first customers. This is strictly Yemeni cuisine - no Michigan diner food here. Moataz(?) was our server - rockstar. My Ful Medamas (breakfast, mashed fava bean stew) is excellent. I ordered mine with egg cooked in the stew. It arrived boiling hot in a small crock. It brought back the (few) good memories of Cairo. Every time I visit Michigan I make it a goal to visit Dearborn in order to try a new restaurant. Today I tried Sheeba and I must say it was delicious! I ordered the Fahsah and Lamb soup. Absolutely wonderful service here from the manager Ranya and equally our server Fatima. We were treated to a delightful introductory salad with a house made ginger sauce as well as a hearty and robust lentil soup. Following that was the Fahsah, a shredded lamb and potato dish briskly bubbling away in a clay pot alongside a side of naan. Our main course was another lamb dish, the Lamb Haneeth with a vibrantly seasoned zorbian rice. To say that the food was indulgent would be under selling the quality of everything here. Finally to top off everything you are entreated to a warming atmosphere from both the people and the space itself. While we sat eating a bowl of incense was lit only enhancing the experience further. Torn between 4 and 5 stars. I guess I'll do 4 but probably would do 4.5. The haneeth lamb and to a lesser extent chicken is amazing!!! It's like melt off the bone amazing. This is the reason I always come back. But the basically everything else that I've tried at least is not that great compared to the Lebanese version: fattoush, bread, rice, garlic sauce. I wasn't too happy with the food. The food had no flavor almost. Their mixed family platter is way way over priced for $200 plus it has no flavor. So flavorless and some kabobs were burnt. My first taste of Yemeni food was at this location of Sheeba Restaurant, coincidentally during Dearborn Restaurant Week 2022. The food made such a solid impression that since then, I have visited several other Yemeni restaurants and been to this and the East Dearborn Sheeba several times. During Dearborn Restaurant Week 2024, I decided to revisit Sheeba as my first stop of the week. Surprisingly, the offerings remained exactly the same as in 2022. Somehow, Sheeba has managed to keep prices down through all the inflation in the previous years. We both got the $15 special, which comes with a drink, a choice of three appetizers - Falafel, Baba, or Hummus, and one of two mains - Half Chicken Haneeth or Fahsah. Falafel - This is a mini order of 3 falafel on a bed of greens. The falafel aren't fried all that well; the exterior is mostly dry but barely crisp. The chickpeas are more coarsely ground, resulting in an interior that has a more crumbly (but moist) mouthfeel. They don't mix many herbs in the falafel, so it's missing some of the fresh notes that help balance out the salty/sesame/chickpea flavor. The falafel are supposed to come with tahini and tomato, but we didn't receive either. (3/5) Baba Ghanouj - This is quite a chunky baba with larger pieces of tender eggplant mixed in with pureed chickpeas. They mill the eggplant quite well so there's barely any seeds mixed in. The eggplant has a slight hint of char, but not nearly as much as other places. (4/5) Note: The appetizers come with one piece of rashush which they will charge you $1 extra for. This is not noted on the menu at all. Chicken Haneeth, Half - The chicken is fall off the bone tender with a great char on the exterior and a somewhat smoky flavor. The interior meat is salty and tastes of fresh chicken. The texture is somewhat too tender and renders the chicken a bit sticky, like it kind of sticks to the teeth as you chew. The chicken comes on one side of a mound of yellow rice, which is fluffy and perfectly cooked and seasoned. On the other side rests a number of potatoes cooked in a savory tomato base The potatoes are quite dense but cooked until tender. A container of sahawiq is served on the side that adds a salsa-like bright herbal freshness and a bit of spiciness. (4/5) Fahsah - This is probably my favorite dish at Sheeba - I've always ordered it through my multiple visits. The fahsah is made with shredded lamb mixed with mashed potato with the meat having only the barest hint of lamb gaminess (this location is quite consistent with the flavor, but the one in East Dearborn sometimes tastes very gamey). It's very tender and doesn't get caught in your teeth as you chew. The dish is served in a clay pot, still bubbling when it arrives at the table, and it continues to bubble for quite a while afterwards - I've never succeeded to not to burn my tongue due to impatience. The bubbling action creates a delicious crust along the bottom of the pot that requires a bit of work to scrape up with a spoon. There's a thick layer of oil on top that is red-orange from the spices, but surprisingly the dish doesn't taste that greasy. It's served with one piece of rashush that is fresh baked, with some charred bubbly crispy bits and some chewy bits. The bread is studded with nigella seeds, lending a pleasing earthiness. (5/5) Overall I've found the main entrees to be delicious but the mezze to be only okay to good. Since eating at Sheeba the first time, we've expanded to eating at other traditional Yemeni places and I have to say that Sheeba is definitely a bit more Westernized than those places. Not saying that's bad - Sheeba is still a great stop in Dearborn if you're looking to try something a bit different from all the Lebanese places around. This place is a pleasant surprise and the food is very tasty and savory. It is a Yemeni restaurant and the food is a little spicy but very flavorful. A lot of the meats are lamb and it was a great experience overall. The salad was very fresh and surprisingly much bigger than expected. The hafsa? Went to this place with couple of friends! We ordered chicken zurbian rice , sambosa , frise and hummus. The rice came with meat soup. The rice was delicious, tasty and tender. The chicken is already mixed up with the rice. It tasted good But the rice arrived a little bit cold. The samosa is one of my favorite. Very good! A Yemeni friend recommended Sheeba and it was amazing!!! The food was incredible, staff very nice, and atmosphere nice. We got the usual favorites: chicken ogda, lamb mandi, maraq soup, salad, fresh lemon juice, fresh bread, and sahawiq sauce. The chicken ogda first came out in just a plate but I asked if it's possible in the black pot and they kindly brought it back simmering in the black pot. The staff were not at all bothered and seemed happy to do this. So nice! Thank you! Overall, just so amazing. Highly recommended to try it! Came here with friends to have a lunch. There is a decent parking outside so parking was not an issue. We ordered few different dishes so we can get the full experience. Among my favorite choices was their Haneeth. The rice was delicious and their meat was so soft and tender. Their service though needs little attention. We had to ask several times for things that we ordered and they didn't get our order right. Also no one attended our table for a solid 20mins. Never got a chance to post a review on this place. Probably because the last time I was here it was 4 years ago. I was not a Yelper back then I just observed my wife writing reviews. I the only reason I became a yelper was because this yelper from New Jersey presented to be a cop. He started being disrespectful to my wife and her friends. But that's a another story So Sheeba is a Yemeni Mediterranean restaurant that has a different flavor and great taste. The Dearborn community here has so much to offer when it comes to Mediterranean food choices. Sheeba is unique their Shawarma salad along with some lentil soup will keep you warm on those cold cloudy days. Adding lemon to this soup just infuses its flavor. Yes I like eating it when it gets cold out there if that makes any sense. But I prefer this place because it just feels right the staff is great. They impress me because when they take your order they don't write it down. The food comes out hot which is big plus so just be careful. The interior is calm and decoration is like history screaming at you. It will not be a dull moment here. After you finish eating they don't mind if you stay afterwards at the table there is no rush. That's when I recommend Yemeni tea. Let me say that again I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE YEMENI TEA. This made for a perfect day stoping here. Usually not that busy when I've gone in the last couple of times. Floor was really sticky feeling, which was a bit disconcerting. Servers are nice and quick. Their adeni chai is amazing and one of my favorite places to get adeni chai. We got the lamb fahsha and it was hot and fresh, and flavorful. Extra pieces of bread are only $1 and their bread is amazing. Chewy and soft at the same time. Also got a half chicken haneeth and it was so much larger than I thought it was going to be since it was the half size. Comes with a yummy and spicy tomato salsa. Wish that it came with some garlic sauce though. One of our dining partners got the chicken fahsha and it looked less saucy than the lamb version. Have had the lamb haneeth previously and it's well seasoned, meat falls off the bone and it isn't too gamely. At the end of the meal they give you a warm wet towel to wipe your hands with. Really good location. The east of parking, seating and proximity to everything in Dearborn made it a perfect spot for lunch. Staff was super friendly, sat us quickly and explained anything on the menu we'd never had. I have chicken agdah and it was amazing. Not as spicy as I'd prefer but really excellent flavors. The chicken was tender and the veggies perfect. Rice was great and I got extra bread for a dollar which you can't beat. The lamb broth soup was on point and they gave us a "salsa" (forgive me for not know what it's called) that was really fresh and tasted great on everything. Have you heard of Fahsa? Oh my gord! Slightly spicy, super savory, stewed lamb served in a stone bowl with hot mulawah (spiced flat bread cooked in a stone oven) is a MUST and is legit one of my new favorite foods. The staff here are very nice and happy to explain the best things to try. Yemeni culture is rich with influence from many civilizations which has fortified the cuisine with fragrant and multifaceted flavors from the entire region while remaining distinctly Yemeni so the menu is different from the "middle eastern" restaurants familiar to the area, because most offer Lebanese fare... The rice we had was bright yellow from saffron and was just delicious. The meat was tender and juicy. The salad was fresh and crisp and was tossed in a bright and well balanced dressing. Make sure to try the coffee and tea selection as these are offerings that are quite unique to Yemen and you may find a new favorite beverage.
