Follow your nose and smell the wood grilled meats at Al Bawadi Grill! The interior clothed tent decor with individual panels is a first for me. Service was nice and the food was good. We split a chicken platter and while our hostess indicated she could finish all in one sitting, we added an appetizer, chicken toshka - a meat, cheese, garlic sauce pita pocket. This one app could have filled us up! I also got the mint lemonade. A healthy amount of mint blended into lemonade, really enjoyed it. I wouldn't mind coming back with a bigger group where you can share a huge meat platter or order a couple of side dishes. This place is ideal for a group of 6-8! Atmosphere and ambiance of the place transports you to the Middle East. It's pretty cool. Complimentary pita chips with pickles and cold eggplant dip was served along with warm pitas. read more

This place lives up to the hype. Despite living in Albany Park and thus closer to the Niles locale, we decided to travel to the OG location. It was worth the drive. I'd heard so many good things that it was hard to imagine Bawadi exceeding my expectations, but it did. The food was wonderful, and we loved the atmosphere. My husband and I can't believe it took us so long to eat here! We'll definitely be hitting up the Niles location more often. Not usually one to venture out outside my American cuisine, however, I am so happy I did. Got to admit it was the decor of the restaurant and pictures of their food that drew me in. The atmosphere was very inviting and clean. I had their filet mignon kebob and their appetizer of humus. Also tried their tea that had spearmint leaves and pieces of lime mixed in it " it was very good". They also brought out a pita bread and a small sample of vegetables for everyone at the table. Love this place, such quality food for a great price! I'd recommend a lot of their appetizers they are so cheap for the giant portions. The meat Toshkas are SO SO good I can't emphasize how good they are! And their complimentary starter platter I love as well. The wrap sandwiches are also a great choice for cheap! It comes with these fries that are absolutely delicious. And lastly one of my favorite desserts I've never had- the knafeh! It's sweet and cheesy and a perfect way to finish off the meal. The only reason I can't give this place a 5 star is because I feel like all of their meat platters are dry. All the other food is so incredibly good but I just can't get behind any of their grilled meat entrees unfortunately. The food is always on point - I've tried several things on the menu and have always liked what I've gotten. The restaurant has traditional middle eastern vibes (cute decor, fun music). These wonderful people were very thoughtful and apologetic when the food came out a little late. Second time dining here and just like the first time the food is fresh, hot and delicious! The place is large and maybe only for the summer they do have additional under tent seating. There were many large family groups, but that didn't keep our food from being served timely and quickly. Portions are VERY large, so definitely recommend eating 'family' style and share a couple of different dishes! Try the Turkish coffee sample that will be brought around to all the tables when you sit down. Just a few sips, but different than your average coffee. For starters, the Hummus or Foul (warm) was a great way to start meal with the hot pita bread. The mint lemonade was recommended by our server and was very refreshing on this warm evening. I have lived down the street from the Bridgeview location for years, well before the establishment opened and have never had the opportunity to visit. I finally went for a friend's birthday dinner and I am so upset! I wish I lived down the street again~!~~ What a fantastic experience. The ambiance, the cleanliness, the customer service.... all stellar. The food. Oh my, the food. We enjoyed two appetizers. Only TWO APPETIZERS! and was full! My only complaint is my tummy was too full to venture forward! We had lunch at Al Bawadi in Bridgeview, and we were pleasantly surprised. We both ordered the Shawarma Platter with two kinds of rice: a sliver of grilled tomato and onions with Tahini Sauce on the side. My sister got the same thing. What surprised me was how thin the shavings were with the meats (Lamb & Beef combo) they were like "slivers" of meat not sliced like most places serve but it was still tasted really good, and they gave you plenty to take home. The prices were fair, and the service was very good. There was an elderly couple sitting across from us eating a dessert called "Knafah" which is like a combination of Shredded Phyllo Dough, Sweet Cheese, and Simple Syrup creating interesting flavors, it has a nice crunch they layer it with cheese and pistachio nuts on top. It's a little pricey at $17.99. It's too much for two people, much better for three or four. The elderly couple offered me to try it so I obliged, and his wife was nice enough to give me an extra piece. She told me that she came from Wisconsin for the Knafah. I wondered why they would go to the Bridgeviwe location because there's Al Bawadi in Niles? Oh well! read more

Nothing bad to say about this place. Got seated outside right away. Would have preferred to sit inside to enjoy the restaurant but we were hungry. As far as I know, the food was authentic to the tee when it comes to middle eastern food in the Chicagoland area. The baba ganoush was one of the best I've ever tasted and meat and rice cooked to perfection. All-in this meal cost me $30 between 2 people. Hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, rice, and sambussa were all excellent. I wish the sambussas came with a spicy dipping sauce, but it doesn't come with any sort of sauce. This place is such a treat! We live about 30 minutes away, but when we are craving Mediterranean food this spot is the only spot! I had several Middle Eastern friends growing up, and this food is just like the home cooked meals I've had in the past. The Mint Lemonade is a MUST! So refreshing but delicious. If you are craving a treat before your main dish, get the Appetizer sampler, which comes with falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, feta cheese, and tons of warm pita. All made fresh in house! The samosas are also so freakin' good! If you don't know what to order, try the Al Bawadi Platter, which has a variety of fire grilled meats, accompanied by two types of rice and your choice of salad, hummus, or baba ganoush (my favorite option). You will have leftovers for sure! Save room for dessert! The knafeh is a MUST try! It is made of crushed phyllo dough topped with cheese and cooked on a low flame (you can watch them make it through the window right by the entrance!). The overall aesthetic will transport you to the Middle East. It reminds me of my trip to Morocco. So many different textiles and lighting options. The service and quality of the food is what really drives us to come here. You will be taken care of from the time you enter, until the time you walk out the door with a full belly. Ate here last night and it was FANTASTIC food and service. The portions were plenty and for an 9 person group they brought out everything in good time. There was a bit of a wait (~20 mins), but that was because it was jam packed. Tried out the large kebab platter, baba ganoush, hummus with meat, stuffed grape leaves, labneh, and fried pomfret. The meal also came with large, fresh pieces of flat bread and an additional side of hummus. My go-to order for two people is an Al Bawadi mixed grill platter, an order of falafel, and a fattoush salad. The fattoush salad is my favorite, highly recommend it! Several meals can be shared with more than one person, as portion sizes are large and you will want to try a little bit of everything. This place is also great at accommodating larger parties. One thing to consider is they don't serve alcohol but please do yourself a favor and order the dessert! Best I've ever had! read more
