Fantastic food overall. The pasta and sauces were excellent, and the pizza was absolutely to die for. The only downside was the meatballs, which seemed to have a bit too much breading and not quite enough meat. Delicious! Admittedly it took longer than I expected for the food to come out, but the carbonara I got was some of the best I've had in a long time so I'd say the wait was worth it. I added in mushrooms for an extra $3 and overall it was a little pricey, but again it was delicious. If I have an Italian craving I can see myself ordering it again. This restaurant is located in the former Dunedin Mix, now The West End Market, so all the seating is in the central courtyard area and the only table service is for the bar, making it a good option if you're wanting to try a little bit of everything or meeting up with friends who all have different food preferences. read more

New spot for my wife and I. We've passed this location multiple times and decided to finally stop by and check it out. Glad we did!! Food was fresh and HOT!! I don't particularly like just cheese pizza but this Ai 4 formaggio pizza is delish. Probably the best my wife has had (she stated). The fettuccine is wide noodles and Al dente. And comes with side of seasoned bread. We also ordered tiramisu which had had crunchy middle (not a fan of the soggy middle). We tried the Margarita and I loved the basil drizzle which gave the pizza the perfect Margarita flavor. The crust is crispy, even on the bottom...in the best way. The venue is open air and super chill. You can try multiple eateries at one sitting which we did. There is live music. Service was simple. This is such a wonderful authentic Italian restaurant. The family is actually Italian, they import their flour and hand make all the pastas. This is like having your Italian grandma cook for you. My husband who generally won't eat pasta or white flour for that matter, LOVES this place. He doesn't react to the flour like he does with others. This place is a great casual dining experience or take-out or delivery! We are hooked! So happy to have this gem in Dunedin! read more

Their margarita pizza is the best I've ever had. You can tell the dough is homemade and the sauce is imported, Italian tomatoes, and the mozzarella is a step above everybody else great pizza. read more

I feel bad giving a poor review to a new restaurant. I know it's hard out there for a new place but like... I don't mind "our take on ____ (traditional recipe)," if it's made really clear that it's a revisioning of the recipe. Their description says, "San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, basil." So I was bamboozled into thinking the thing they market as a margherita pizza would have some similarity to an actual margherita pizza. It does not. It's a floppy undercooked cheese pizza with a light pesto drizzle. I originally wanted to order some other items but based on this I don't trust the rest of their menu. WOW got takeout tonight... the pizza bowled us over... we got the sausage and provolone. the flavors were amazing. this is now our go to pizza place hands down...yum... I had high hopes for this place based on the Yelp reviews. I rarely leave bad reviews but I hope this helps the business do better with their service and food. First, it wasn't written anywhere that you have to place an order for pick up online only, so I called the number listed. A man answered "Hello?" I said "is this Al Dente?" He said "yes", I said "I'd like to place an order for pick up", he said "I'm not at the location, you have to order online". I placed my order online. I got the Grandma's Meatballs, the Carbonara with penne and a mixed green salad. When I arrived at the location there were two closed walk up windows. I was unsure which one to go to, I stood in front of one window and could see a man making pizza. He didn't look at me or seem to notice I was there. I went to the other window, about 2 minutes later, a man opened the window. He didn't say anything to welcome me or in greeting. I said "I'm here for pick up. I ordered online" he said "Five more minutes" and shut the window. About 8 minutes later I could see him packing up my order. The salad was premade in a plastic container that he grabbed from a refrigerator and put in a bag. When I got home I noticed that the cheese on top of the meatballs was black and very burnt. When serving the salad I could see that some of the leaves were dark brown and slimy. I was able to pick out enough good leaves for two servings. There was no dressing, just a light drizzle of balsamic glaze, so we used some dressing we had at home. The penne carbonara was flavorless and the pasta was overcooked and mushy. After scraping off the burnt cheese, my mom and I tried the meatballs. They were so tough it was hard to cut into them and the flavor was really bad. They were loaded with full sprigs of fresh rosemary, which I have never had in a meatball before and it was a very overpowering taste. We both couldn't eat any more of them. I went back to the website and saw that the list of ingredients for the meatballs doesn't say rosemary or fresh herbs anywhere. Maybe the pizza is good like the other reviews say, but what we tried was the worst Italian food we have ever had and won't be back. read more
