Lambchops were nicely done, but very small. Chicken moist and seasoned well. The one thing that sticks out most are the dolmades....I have never had these warm. Very odd. Aladdin is a terrific casual restaurant. First, the food is delicious. I'm not from Jackson--I was visiting--and I've had Mediterranean-style food in a lot of cities and Aladdin's is right up there! The meat was well-seasoned, the dips were delicious, and the salads were crunchy. The best part of the restaurant was the staff. We had a huge group, and the waiter we had was amazing--so efficient. For example, when we ran out of the delicious pita bread, he was already bringing new baskets to us before we even asked. Last thing I'll say is that the restaurant itself is comfortable--a place where you can really hang out with friends and enjoy yourself. And there is a package store next door. Delicious! Can't find dolmas as good as these anywhere! Unless, of course, you visit the Mediterranean. Don't know, never been. The hummus, baba ganouj, tabouli, falafel, and pita, ALL superb. I always get the Aladdin's Sampler Appetizer as a meal for myself because I'm a huge fan of vegetarian mediterranean dishes. I've had the Chicken Schwarma (maybe?) and it was good, too. I was just wishing that I could have had some dolmas, as well. The restaurant (last time I went there) is BYOB. And they even had a grocery in the back that you could look through and shop. Really good Mediterranean especially for lunch. Parking is terrible but they're friendly inside, good selection of options. Very affordable and generous is the meat portions. Recommended subbing sauteed veggies in for salad, $2 well worth it. We stick pretty consistently to gyro and chicken "plates". Hummus and baba come w oil mixed in so if you're keeping fat low just ask to hold oil. read more

After reading the reviews about this restaurant, we decided to give it a try. We were traveling through, coming from a weekend in Birmingham Alabama, and headed back to Louisiana. The restaurant was located off of interstate 55. We were traveling on interstate 20, but the detour to this restaurant only took a few minutes. The restaurant's waitress was very helpful. We asked for a suggestion, and she gave it. I had the lamb chops and my husband had a combination plate. The food was delicious. The hummus with the best I've ever tasted. Great food, very reasonably priced. They have the cheapest lamb chops in town. The tea is made with fresh mint and has quite a unique flavor, however some of my friends who have eaten there with me do not like it, and they don't serve it any other way. I love this cute little cafe in jackson! I got the shrimp plate. I usually don't like bell peppers, but they were delicious. It came with fresh bread and hummus. A friend got the vegetarian wrap because she is vegan. It was some of the best vegan food I've ever had!! My other friend got the lamb chops and they were to die for. The restaurant feels very authentic. The dolmas were to die for. I've had dolmas before, and they have usually been cold, but these were very fresh and warm. For my meal I got the lamb kebab "sandwich". The lettuce was very fresh, and the tomatoes seemed to be just cut. The lamb meat was so tender and juicy. I tried their fresh baklava, and it was the best baklava I've had, still hot from the oven. Not to mention the service, probably some of the best service in Jackson! An overall good experience! We came here for lunch on a Tuesday and it was surprisingly crowded! For that reason our service was just a little slow, but not too bad. I had the falafel plate which was good, however, my husband got the Schwarma plate and they just brought some cooked beef over rice out. It wasn't bad, but supposed to be in a wrap right? ‍ We did have the Turkish coffee which was super delicious and the hummus and pita are spot on! The falafel are smaller and crisper than you probably expect, but they're still quite food. The fries are a dark horse. Get them. At a whooping four dollars, the sandwiches are just ok. If you want food to go, it's a perfectly good option. Do not miss the dessert, or the attached grocery store! The store has great deals on imported goods like chocolates and olive oils from the Middle East and Turkey. I tend to stay away from the salads and burgers, but your mileage may vary.
