Oh my goodness, what a hidden gem. The food is fresh, homemade, and more than yummy. The owners are a delight. The husband is very personable and jovial. He makes sure he talks to everyone and has lots of funny anecdotes to tell. He said his wife does all the cooking, and you can tell she does it with love. Absolutely amazing restaurant. I absolutely love Yiayia's! I went in for dinner alone while I was in town for work. I had some really good cabbage rolls and a well prepared Greek Salad. The service was great, and the ambiance is very comfortable. I felt like I was being welcomed into someone's home for dinner. The best part was talking with Santino, the restaurant owner. He came to my table to see how I liked everything, and we ended up talking for about 20 minutes. I heard about his childhood in the Greek Islands, his history in the restaurant business for the last 37 years, and lots of stuff in between. I live about two hours away, and YiaYia's Greek Kitchen was recommended to us by my sister who lives in Jackson. The consensus: It's an absolutely delicious place to eat! We got the chickpea fritters with tzatziki sauce, spicy feta dip (Angry Feta) with pitas, stuffed cabbage rolls, the lamb and the chicken gyros and fries - the flavors of everything we ordered were beyond what we could imagine. Everything was also so fresh! Nothing felt heavy or uncomfortably filling - so we were able to eat a lot! It was a wonderful food experience! This this is by far the best meal I've ever had in Jackson. The gyro platter was to die for!! But the best part... the salad. They are growing herbs and tomatoes outside and you could taste the freshness. The family atmosphere was so inviting and the service was just as good. The owner is extremely friendly and told us this is all authentic and it's exactly how they cooked at his home. The pita bread was warm and soft, and the whole meal was cooked fresh and piping hot. The gyro was good, but the fries were fantastic.
