A review for another time but once I left the glass place I needed comfort food. I love kebab. A friend was married to an Iranian guy and I got hooked on kebab, basmati and warm flatbread. I go in prepared to break my no flour program but I saw the salads and realized that I wasn't going to let the poor customer service experience at the glass place let me make bad choices. I was greeted by the sweetest young lady who offered to make recs for me before she left for my tea. I ordered the Lulu Greek salad add chicken shwarma. I asked her to keep the pita bread. Insert me sobbing here. It was hard but I did it. Man was that salad phenomenal. Chicken breast that had a nice crust on it but was not dry. Crisp vegetables. A delicious oil and vinegar based dressing. So much food. Excellent service. Very clean. Mediterranean music playing very low in the background. Good little Mediterranean spot in Jackson. We happened upon this place by chance as my lunch companion said that it had just reopened recently after being closed for a while. We were headed to the place behind it, but I think they were closed on Mondays. Server was good. No issue there. She was attentive, helpful, and very efficient. It's kind of a hole in the wall kind of place. No real attention to the look inside really, but I don't care anything about that. We started with a colorful hummus dish and falafel for appetizers. The falafel was fantastic! It might have been the best I have ever had. Loved it!! Hummus was great too! I had the Combo plate for lunch. It had gyro meat and the driest chicken I've ever tried to eat. Gyro was pretty crunchy too. It came with more hummus, a salad with a great dressing, and some rice. It was just ok. It dampened the whole experience. I'm sure if it were fresh and tender, it would have been great. Forgot to snap a pic. I'd eat there again if I ever stumbled across it again. Decided I wanted to try something new today but wanted local, so I tried Lulu Kabab in Ridgeland. It's a pretty causal atmosphere, so I was surprised they offered table service. I seated myself and Morgan quickly greeted me and took my drink order. I give Morgan a lot of credit. She was the only server and the place was almost full. Only other employee was the gentleman behind the counter making the food. Morgan didn't miss a beat. I ordered the gyro lunch special, which came with a feta cheese salad, rice, fries or hummus. I went with the salad. It was the basic bagged lettuce with a feta dressing that seemed more on the vinaigrette side. I loved the dressing but wish I had more of it. I should have gone with the hummus but really wanted to taste the dressing. The gyro had plenty of meat but I was a little disappointed in the amount of onions, tomato, sauce and lettuce on it. I know most would be happier with more meat, but I'm not that big on a lot of meat. I will say the meat was very flavorful and I kind of liked the crispiness of the flatbread. The sauce could have had more flavor but it wasn't a deal breaker this go around since it wasn't a lot of it on the sandwich. I also ordered the baklava. It was warm when it arrived but had been overheated. Morgan noticed I deconstructed it to eat it and asked if she had overheated it. When I told her it was overheated but still tasted ok, she offered me another piece. I had eaten most of it so I refused the new piece. However, when she brought my ticket, she brought me another piece packaged to-go! It was such a nice gesture because I was finishing off the first one. Despite being the only one working the dinning room, she was still concerned about the food. Overall, it's a nice place to grab a quick lunch. My Uber driver, who is Palestinian, told me to come here. He said, "it's the best Mediterranean restaurant in Jackson." After many months, I finally took him up on his recommendation. I'm eating low-carb currently; therefore, I couldn't try many items on the menu. I ordered the feta salad with grilled chicken and gyro. When he brought my plate, I was a tad bit sad: it looked so plain. Dressed lettuce with specks of feta and strips of chicken breast and gyro meat. But OH BOY, absolutely DELICIOUS. The dressing was so flavorful, full of olive oil, garlic, oregano, mint, lemon and the meats were perfectly seasoned and cooked. It's not fancy, but clean. It's a smaller establishment with cloth-topped tables. Kareem, the server, was a delight, very open and knowledgeable. This is why I prefer Mom and Pop places: so much love. The gyro meat was so moist and both were full of flavor, love the thick cut gyro meat. The hummus was just right for me, not too tart to where I'd pucker up. Now the fried cheese, that was a winner! Great stuff. First off, the folks there were super friendly and conversational. They're a family owned business that just opened about a month ago at the time this review was written. They were happy to answer questions about their specialties and even offered me a free sample of their beef and chicken gyro meat (delicious!). Their food that I tried was delicious because it was FRESH and all homemade. Mmmm that warm pita and light, fluffy hummus. I got a falafel pita with a side of tzaziki which was wonderful too--among the better falafel I've had around town if not the best. The baklava I had was flakey and holy cow... THE best I've ever had. Other side notes, the business was very clean and the wait staff friendly and polite as well. I could find no flaw. I had lunch with a friend today at Lulu Kabab. Overall Rating out of 5 (breakdown below): 3.2 Environment: 3.5 Food: 4 Service: 2 Environment: I do really like the look of the place. They have tablecloth covered tables (with paper covers to preserve), napkin (paper) wrapper silverware, and a great color combination. I don't like the food pictures on the wall. I don't think 1/2 of them are of their food and the other 1/2 aren't that great of a quality. Also the wall, if you look closely, has lots of nicks and scraped paint marks. The tv is HUGE for such a small place and you have to sit 2 tables away so you're not having to yell over the sound. Also the channel was a very uncomfortable foreign one playing I think a music video of a guy trying to take advantage of a girl. Lastly, they have an open kitchen which made it uncomfortably warm. Food: Our food was delicious and plated very nicely. We had the Fried Halloum Cheese and Sambusa (Spinach Pie) appetizers, and I had the Combo Plate with gyro meat and chicken shawarma. My true test of a good Greek restaurant are the taste of the hummus, the gyro meat, and the pita bread. Out of those the only one that wowed me was the gyro meat. The fried cheese was nothing special. It looked beautiful but was far too crunchy and lacked in flavor. Maybe it needs more than a touch of garlic. The sambusa was great, with tzatziki. Without it, it also was lacking in flavor. Just some salt would've made a world of difference. Also I barely tasted feta cheese inside. The combo plate gyro, chicken shawarma, and basmati rice were delicious. However the hummus tasted flat, I prefer a little more acid and robust flavor, maybe a squirt of lemon and more of a richer olive oil would've helped. The salad, eh, it was a Greek salad, nothing special. For $13, I'd say it was a fair pricing. Service: When we first walked in the server, which I think might have been a manager or owner, was super attentive, like almost borderline uncomfortably attentive. However as I assume "more important" customers walked in that he knew personally, we became less important. He said he'd bring us pita bread...nope he conversed with other tables (not served but chatted) for 10 minutes before the woman serving brought it to us when we asked again. It wasn't super warm and I don't get the impression they make it in house. He just forgot. It took us 20 minutes to get our check after we said we were finished, and another 10 to bring it back. Again our server pulled a chair up to another table to talk to them and laughed at jokes with another table while we waited. Nothing makes me more upset then the lack of a sense of urgency when serving guest in a restaurant. Especially one that only has three tables to serve. Do I recommend this place? Right now, no. You can get just as good food at other Greek places around here without the bad service. If you want it to go... then yeah it's okay. read more

This place is GREAT......Good Food, Great Service and a Nice Atmosphere. I went with two other people for our first visit. Each one of us had something different and we ordered an appetizer (way too much food). I had the tilapia, another person had the sampler of the gyro and chicken Souvlaki, and the third person had the Musaka. Each dish was delicious but my favorite was the Tilapia. This is a wonderful new restaurant. If you're familiar at all with the food served at Aladdin's, you'll LOVE Lulu Kabab. My husband and I came here to try it out. We both got gyros, which is our standard first thing we try at any of the Greek/Mediterranean restaurants. Hands down, best gyro in town. I had the lamb, my husband got the chicken. This restaurant is very authentic. I'm pretty sure it's completely family owned and operated, which makes me love it that much more. The waitress even brought us some dolmas to try! When I asked what all was in it, she told me and mentioned it's her mom's recipe. Very cool. The menu is great, you can either stick to the "usual" or branch out and try something new. Lulu Kabab is good. We started ordering from here when we moved and could no longer get Aladdin's delivery. It is definitely no Aladdin's but it can be really good. 3 stars due to inconsistencies, sometimes we will get it and it's mediocre at best and other times it's delicious. I will say, when it's good, it's good. Other than it being inconsistent with taste, it's also very stingy with the pita for delivery orders (we haven't dined in). I even ordered and paid for extra pita for our 2 combination plates and we were only given 2 pieces total....one for each meal. If it could be more consistent and provide enough pita for each entree, it would be much better. read more

I ordered the Lulu hummus with gyro meat which came in a to-go container filled nearly to the top. The gyro meat was incredibly tender, and the hummus was great consistency. Only wish the hummus had a little more flavor. My friend got the chicken shawarma plate and meat stuffed grape leaves. Neither of us were disappointed and both got about 3 meals out of it. Hubby just had major surgery, so cooking every night is difficult at best. I just spent $35.32 for a meal with salad, bread, hummus and another moussaka that was basically sautéed eggplant (12.00)! The rice was minute rice, no pita bread on either meal, a thimble of hummus. I called them back, they want me to drive 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back for them to get it right!
