I'm not sure how I have never written a review for here, but it is hands down one of my most favorite places to eat in the region. My family get takeout for me every time I come home because their shawarma and hummus are some of the best in the US, I'm not kidding, I have been doing extensive studies. Inside it's part grocery store and then part restaurant, and I always find the best spices for sale. Everyone who works here is always really nice, and everything is so clean. I recently went back to Aladdin Pita and realized when I posted before I had only given it four stars when it definitely deserves five stars. My apologies. The food is so fresh and flavorful. Chicken Shawarma dinner is my favorite.They make their own soups. I asked for garlic sauce, and the chef took fresh garlic cloves and chopped them into sauce in no time. I always order a container of hummus and pita bread to go. Also, I purchased a lot of spices that they carry in the storefront. They are reasonably priced. We tried their weekend buffet, Sunday 1-9, (reservation recommended), which was phenomenal. The buffet had like 10 dishes, but all were equally delicious and beyond expectations. The lambs were tender, the rices were flavorful, the pastas were scrumptious. They provided pita breads on the tables which is really nice to eat with the soup, particularly the lentil soup. Only downside is the lack of beef dishes (there was only one with okra). The dessert section was a bit limited but they were amazing. 30$ for this halal buffet may seem much, but it's totally worth it. read more

When I walked in, I was a little weary. The restaurant is attached to a food market, but worry. This place is so good. The meat is well prepared, juicy, and seasoned well. The plate is big enough for 2. It also comes with your choice of lentil or cauliflower soup. I had the lentil soup and it was so good. It comes with a lemon, squeeze it on top and it's perfection. We happened to stop by and didn't expect this to be an absolute gem! The food is delicious and has super reasonable prices. The pita and soup appetizers were so good! I got the lentil which had great flavor and a kick, and my boyfriend got the potato which was creamy and nostalgic. We didn't think we would get anything included and were pleasantly surprised. We ended up getting kibbeh and falafel as well which were nice and crispy. We had to take those home though since we realized we ordered way too much food haha. I got the lunch special which was amazing! I loved the kebab the most as it has so many fragrant flavors in it. I felt pretty full half way through as all the food added up. My boyfriend got the beef shawarma sandwich and it was also so tasty! The waitresses were lovely and we had very good service here. The market was also great and our Palestinian friend was excited to see all his favorite groceries here. This is a must for anyone in the area! Went there today since I've moved away from Indiana 4 years ago. I used to go to Aladdin pita since high school!! Took my wife and went there today for lunch, we got seated and waited for the server to even serve us silverware and plates!, nothing. We stumbled upon this place while driving out of Chicago towards home in KY. I was amazed and the huge package I picked up for the order I placed. The portions are large and food is priced right. It felt like a Mediterranean restaurant and grocery store in the middle of nowhere, but there were a lot of middle-eastern looking families dining inside. I noticed a dinner buffet which is unusual, we'll be sure to try this the next time. The lady who took our order over the phone answered all my questions with patience and was very sweet when I got there to pick up the food. Make sure to check out the drinks fridge in the store. I found a yogurt drink called Ayran which was amazing. Also tried a fruit flavored carbonated drink. From the store I picked up some interesting flavors of nuts. I'm certainly coming back. Really enjoyed their Sunday dinner buffet! Lots of options with lamb, chicken and beef, unlimited hummus and pita and some vegetarian dishes as well. The food was delicious, especially the lamb! My grandfather is from the Middle East and we were able to take him out to lunch here as a family! I was so impressed by the quality of the food. There were 6 of us and we shared the Sultan Platter - this was MORE than enough food. They also confirmed that the falafel is gluten free. I grew up in Dubai and don't get to eat Middle Eastern cuisine much since moving to the States. Stopped by here and everything was incredible! Ordered chicken shawarma (childhood staple in Dubai) and I was satisfied! The pickles and flavoring, especially the tahini sauce, were authentic. We got both the pita sandwich and the wrap to try both. The wrap was more of a tortilla instead of Arabic bread but the flavors inside were still tasty. Also got baba ghanouj and labneh to-go. Both were delicious. The baba ghanouj is better than most I've had in the States. The pita bread is fresh and I love how they provide hummus/baba pita appetizer! I've been fortunate to be exposed to the culture and food. The flavors are authentic and just feel like there is a lot of love out into the dishes. I went as part of a group of 5. We were seated immediately. The server was an excellent host! I ordered the Lamb Shank and my wife ordered the Mixed Kabob. As a group we ordered the Mezza spread which is a combination of different dips with side of fresh pita! The restaurant already providers complimentary hummus and baba ghannoug! Fast service, large dining room, and large quantities. But, the entrees are too bland, need more authentic spicing, and need more vegetables. Chicken is too dry. Pita is served piping hot. It's sort of half way between Indian and "Mid-Eastern" cuisine. Would be better if it picked a region and then concentrated on getting that right. Still, no alternative in NW Indiana unless solely Indian, or go to Valparaiso for Meditrena- which is flavored better but has small quantities and very tight seating with cramped dining area. My fiancée and I were traveling through Indiana and having a really bad time, but the food from this restaurant was an absolute joy and about the only good thing that happened to us here. We ordered delivery to our hotel and we got a ton of food to cheer us up and it certainly did the job. Everything we had was packed full of flavor and I would absolutely recommend stopping by if you're in the area. We started off with the kibbeh which was new to both of us and a very interesting dish. I wouldn't say it's my favorite thing, it was a little dry, but dipped in the sauces that it came with, it was pretty enjoyable. We also ordered the hummus, since we can never have too much of it, along with the vegetarian platter, a beef shawarma, fries, extra pita and baklava. Every single thing we got was incredibly delicious, while still being fairly light on the stomach. The hummus, baba ghannoug, and grape leaves were my favorite. They were all really fresh tasting along with the classic flavors that each dish is known for. We had a bunch of leftovers for the next day as well and it all held up really well. This place was absolutely the highlight of Indiana for us. It's definitely worth trying out if you're passing through the area and want something on the lighter side. The best way to describe this place is - YUM!!!!!! Whenever I crave Middle Eastern food, I automatically come here to satisfy that craving. Their portion sizes are huge, their staff is super friendly, food always made fresh, and I always enjoy my time here. It seems like a "hole in the wall" kind of place because when you first walk in, it's their grocery store. However, once you're seated and get their food you'll understand why you have to come here. This review is for Monday May 18, 2020 So it is kind of interesting how we stopped here at aladdins. With the recent issues with Covid, and then the flooding of some areas, my Lady and I went out for a drive, originally wanting creole dish. We found out one our dine in or to go places was permanently closed in Valparaiso. So we decided we wanted mediterranean, but most places we wanted to go to were either not open or closed. We thought of Aladdin's Pita a place we wanted to try for the longest time, but never did. We are happy we gave these guys a try, because we will definitely come back here again soon. So This is what we orders: My Lady's meal: Lamb Kabab Plate (medium well) regular rice My Meal: Kabab Combo Plate (mixed meats, medium well) regular rice on the side we had the following: Pita Bread, Hummus, Baba ghanoush First I will start off, since I am a high risk with my health, my lady went in and placed the order. She said the establishment is set up nicely with what looks like the restaurant is on one side and a grocery store of the many items you would cook with for Mediterranean dishes. When she was greeted then person or people who greeted her were very polite and nice. As far as the food goes we both tasted another's meals, as I did not get lamb at all, and I can say the lamb is very tender, juicy, and has flavor. As far as my meats went, the beef, chicken, and I forgot what one the other meats was, they all had great flavor and were cooked just right. Their Baba ghanoush and hummus was mad just right, we both loved the spices we had on both the sides. If wondering in my photos what the green looking stuff is in the hummus or the Baba ghanoush, it is some sort of a spicey garnish, like a pickled hot pepper, it does have some heat, but does not pack a real bad punch. It will depend on how sensitive you are to spicy foods. In my opinion is it milder than a jalapeno, but does have slight heat. Before I forget, I did happen to forget to take a photo of our dessert, but I can say if you were eve like myself unable to have baklava, because the original recipe has walnuts, you might be able to and want to try their baklava because it is made with pistachios (unless you have an allergy to Pistachios as well then nevermind). I know we will definitely be getting more of this in the future as well. Other than that, we both enjoyed our meals, it was filling to where we had enough left overs for the next day. read more

Back in the day. Getting to smoke some hookah there and drink their extra gritty Coffee was satisfying!! The Rice pilaf is great to accompany any of the menu items like the Turkish hen or the shrimp kabob. They have a nice Alibabi. Market that you can shop in befor or after your visit.. very hospitable the staff is very welcoming and they have good falahfa balls, Like how most restaurants give you rolls with your. Meal they hand out pitas, Cucumber and tomato , dip , smashed eggplant , humus !! They also have decent deserts !! read more

This is a solid place. Certainly not the best place, but far from the worst. Personally, I LOVE a good baba ghanoush. The best one I had was in Jersey, but they fire-roasted the eggplant to give it a different flavor profile. This was you basic baba - not bad, but nothing to go out of your way for. It was pretty bland. Maybe I got a "bad batch" or something, but the humus was pretty meh. Not much tahini and rather unflavorful. Now the pita was fire. It was a big, freshly-baked pita served warm. It was amazing. If the "dippings" would have been better, it would have put a whole new experience on the visit. Had the lamb kabobs. Those were solid too. Very good flavor and had some nice crispy, blackened edges for a little char flavor. They were a little overcooked, but the flavor made up for the slight dryness. I'd order these again. Everything was clean and well-taken care of. It took quite a while to seated and could not get the attention of anyone, but once I finally got seated, they were attentive. Would I go here again? It's always a good sign when you get four different dips and unlimited pita bread just for walking in the door. Not to mention that all the dips are amazing. They bring you hummus, baba ganoush, creamy cucumber dip, and something almost like a pico de gallo. Then, nearly anything you order comes with a side of soup. Let me just say, I am not really a fan of soup; but their lentil soup is phenomenal. It makes me rethink my culinary preferences. Every bite is an eye-opening transformation. I have an out-of-body experience each time I get a bowl. My entree is usually a beef or chicken shawerma sandwich, which is positively scrumptious when the tahini sauce is drizzled over it. The best part of the meal is when the bill comes. My wife's meal and mine each cost about $7, so our check usually totals less than $20 with tip. At the end of the meal, we're both full and entirely satisfied with getting to eat a wide variety of Mediterranean foods. And we don't even have to feel guilty for coming here so often because it's so cheap. read more

My daughter and I both ordered the same thing- the Aladdin salad with chicken. We also each ordered a side of rice and a side of pickles and olives. Our server brought out pita and hummus while we waited for our meals and it was delicious! Our food arrived shortly afterwards. The salads were huge and so fresh. Go get a table, enjoy the fresh baked pita with hummus and baba ghanouj they bring you, and make the tough decision on what to order. But rest assured - whatever you choose will be delicious. And if you really can't decide, I overheard that they have a buffet after 4pm. I ordered an Aladdin salad with chicken (photo included), and my husband chose the beef schwarma pita. Both came with a cup of soup, so we ordered one of each - lemon rice and lentil. They were both hearty and flavorful. My husband enjoyed every bite of his pita. It was filled with a generous amount of beef schwarma, lettuce and red onions (he asked for no tomatoes, and they obliged), with a side of tahini sauce. The salad was large and noticeably fresh. Everything seemed prepared and seasoned perfectly. I was especially impressed with the "house dressing". It seemed to be yogurt based, with red vinegar and several herbs and spices. I was unable to finish it all, but I happily boxed it up for lunch tomorrow. The icing on the preverbal cake was the price. As we both drank waters, the final bill for both of our large, flavorful meals was under $20. We were thoroughly impressed with this little gem. As I said at the beginning "Go here."
