Excellent and affordable Greek food in Union Market! I got a chicken pita that was absolutely delicious, and I love that it had fries. The food came out super quick (took less than five minutes) with very friendly service. Excited to try more!

A menu that features popular, traditional Greek dishes. Enjoyed the spanakopita triangles, a nice blend of spinach, scallion, dill, with both feta and parmesan cheeses. The phyllo for this is well executed. I found the chicken souvlaki pita with fries to be tasty; would have liked a bit more chicken. Am impressed by their frozen moussaka (32 oz) that I took home. Heated it up for dinner later about a week later, everyone complimented me--winner, winner, moussaka dinner. The cinnamon baklava is nuh-uh; the rolled concept is not for me.

Found this little gem inside Union Market, and I'm so glad I stopped by. It's a Greek spot that offers wraps, small plates, and salads--perfect for a quick bite or a casual meal. I ordered the lamb pita, and it was an easy 5/5. It was packed with tender, flavorful lamb, and the addition of fries inside gave it the perfect extra crunch. I was pleasantly surprised by how well all the flavors came together--I loved every bite. My only wish? A few more fries in the mix! Highly recommend checking this place out and definitely ordering the lamb pita. It's worth the visit!

Really deserves a 3 or lower but I'll try. It was near end of day. Service was fast and nice! The lamb kleftiko pita was incredibly good -- moist, loaded with flavor, top notch. But the dakos...oh my, the dakos. I've eaten dakos before in Greece, so it's not that I didn't know what to expect. It was just an awful plate, one of the worst things I've eaten in months. Maybe things were stale since it was end of day? Imagine soggy bread with no flavor. That's what I tried to slog through. Really terrible stuff. So, go for the kletfiko but boy, should you ever jog on by the dakos

This shops right in Union Market so it's got a super great location, but sadly I was a bit dissapointed with this. They had a display of desserts that drew me in, and I saw they had some tasty looking stuff in the back kitchen so we ordered a couple pitas, as well as a baklava. The pitas unfortunately weren't all that great. They came with fries which I would have loved to have seen fried better. The meat was fine as well as the sauce but overall the pita as a whole was a little underwhelming. Thoroughly enjoyed the dessert though.

The chicken and lamb pitas look delicious, but I was pretty underwhelmed and unimpressed. I felt like it was lacking in flavor. I wouldn't come back as I've had much better pitas for less expensive. The fig baklava was delicious however!

Nice to see another new option at union market and was pleased to see this place and the amount of options they had to offer. Got the lamb triangles comes with three and some feta cheese crumbles with a lemon wedge. The phyllo was buttery and flaky and delicious the lamb filling not much inside but nice lamb flavor paired well with a squeeze of lemon. Would love to come back and try more of their menu as they also have take home food containers in a refrigerated section of the stall

Excited for more greek food in the Union market district. I stopped by Mastiha Taverna after following the build out updates online. I ordered the Lamb kleftiko to go. It's prepared with house-made pita, filled with slow roasted Lamb Kleftiko, tomato, shaved red onion, feta, fresh herbs, tzatziki, and fries. I asked for my fries on the side. The fries were my favorite part of the meal - fresh, flavorful and well seasoned. The lamb kleftiko pita itself was disappointing. The lamb was tough dry, and difficult to eat. The pita bread was cold. Otherwise service was quick no wait. The shop was cute and they offer grab and go items, oils and much more. I'm not sure that I would stop back in given various other options in the area.

    Beef keftedes pita

So good. So tasty without being over-salty. I had the chicken souvlaki pita, and enjoyed it so much that I had to go back the next day, and I had the beef keftedes (meatball) pita. The bread is soft and flavorful, the tzatziki sauce perfectly complementary, and the fries included in the pita wonderfully crispy and soft and spiced.

Gigantes with the feta salad mixed through.

We ordered the htipiti, piyaz, grilled lamb chops, and octopus Santorini. These were so incredible. I almost bought the cookbook they were selling I loved these dishes so much. My favorite was the htipiti. It was a refreshing dip for a hot summer day. We ordered cocktails that I'm blanking on right now, but they were expertly crafted. I really loved all our dishes. It's hard to find spots that make octopus well and this spot did it WELL. They surprised us with the galatopita and sorbet since we mentioned we were celebrating just getting married. I had a lovely time here, I'd highly recommend this spot.

There is a parking garage around the corner of the restaurant so that makes things very convenient. The inside decor is gorgeous and is chic but also funky fresh. The serving size of the dishes I ordered were medium to small. The service was far less satisfactory than food. I tried the following dishes: 1. Complimentary pita: ~40g per piece. Not salty and paired well with the other dishes. Definitely get some! 2. Lahmacun: The lamb+beef mixture was tasty. It came with 4 pieces. 3. Branzino: ~6oz. The fish was grilled to perfection; juciy tender, and the skin was nicely charred. It was served with freh parsley and seasoned grilled tomato (salt+oregano I think). 4. Imam Bayildi: Half of an eggplant topped with sauteed onions and tomatoes. While itself was pretty normal, it went so well with the Ottoman rice. 5. Ottoman Rice: The true highlight of all the dishes I tried! It was basically Basimati rice cooked with dried apricots, raisins, almonds & pine nuts mix, and seasoned with black currant. Overall it was warm, earthy and lightly smoky. The apricot slices added some delightful sweetness and juiciness to the dish. Should pair well with Labneh, chicken and seafood. But to be honest, I can simply eat this stuff along for a whole meal! 6. Tabbouleh: They went against the traditional recipe by substituting the bulgur with quinoa and added some pomegranate arils. I liked the special texture of quinoa. The sweetness of pomegrante arils also enriched the flavors. However, I had to constantly spit the seeds when enjoying the salad. 7. Kofte: Adana style ground beef patties. Just like what I make at home haha! I ordered it as an add-on to my salad at lunchtime. It came with only 2 pieces which weighed no more than 3oz in total... Despite the delicious food, service was disappointing. The first time, the dinner, was Okay. While my food came out slowly, at least my server was aware of it and asked me how I liked the dishes. The second time, the lunch, was horrible. Even before I was seated, my server made me feel that he was reluctant to serve me, and emphasized that I had to order asap. "Luckily", I had already decided what to order. After I got my dishes, no one in the restaurant asked me if the food was Okay. And at the check, my bill was thrown onto my table. In comparison, the two ladies dining next to me came even after I started eating, but were greeted warmly and were given lots of time to decide what to order; not to mention that the staff gave them lots of suggestions, asked about their dining experience, and even chatted with them about sightseeing in DC, etc. Such discrimitory treatment is really unacceptable.
