Let's start by saying the food here is amazing, the burger is a must try, the calamari and all the sushi rolls were fresh and amazing, my daughter loved the Korean wings and had them two nights in a row. They had live bands and singers every night. We came here with family and really enjoyed ourself. Now in regards to service, all the servers were amazing!. And as far as the bar...One night we had a date night and came back to bar for some drinks and I must of have a few because I left my Chanel bag there, and the guys turned it in. So big THANK YOU for that. If it would have been anywhere else I probably would have never seen my bag again. It was nice, my husband gives it a three, but that is because he paid and their prices are silly and service was nice but just okay at best. We ordered omakases and at 10 pieces of sushi for $95 I would have anticipated something special, perhaps uni which I told my server was my favorite minimally three times, but instead they replaced the beef (I think it was wagu but I do not eat meat) and octopus with ebi (cooked shrimp, not even sweet shrimp) and tuna, skipjack quality. Even bream / snapper would have been nice. The toro and scallops were incredibly prepared, I could have eaten 5 of each happily! Most of what came on the plate was delicious, but should have been sweet shrimp and uni or along those lines; the bream and salmon eggs were yummy. Husband then ordered a roll, since we had not been asked about appetizers. It was pretty good but I can't remember it. I enjoyed the sushi, my husband less so, and the junmai options were tasty. They made a mistake in writing the menu and I ordered a nigori for dessert, which should have been removed because it was not nigori but that's okay, my husband drank it (mostly because she took too long to check in). Anyhow, it was not a $500 dinner, not in terms of service, definitely not in terms of care, or quality. Maybe our expectations would have been sated had we stuck with rolls and mixed drinks, but I love nigiri and sashimi. That said, I enjoyed myself, as I said, the saki was great. At $250 this would be a higher rating but for $500 I most definitely expect more. read more

We were promptly greeted by our super friendly bartender, Dustin. Not only does Dustin make great drinks, but he gave us some great recommendations for restaurants in the area. The lounge has plenty of seating, but according to the staff can get pretty packed when there is a special event besides the regular nightly music. Service is a little unwelcoming. As I sat at the bar I was immediately told that food wasn't available. This was at 4pm and the sushi spot opens at 5. Order a couple of drinks. Sadly I don't think I got the correct drink. It was supposed to be some Gin Lychee concoction. The Gin was supposed to be a Japanese gin I drink regularly at home and either they used an eye drop to serve the gin or they used some minimal amount of speed rack gin. Fish again wonderful quality and a super Roll. *5/5 *Dynamite Roll ($30): 1/2 California Roll / Scallop/ Shrimp/ Tobiko/ Dynamite sauce. The flavors were very complimentary but I didn't understand as to why the sushi was presented in a small bowl. The tight container of the bowl left the sushi like a hot soupy sushi. Very unappetizing and the texture of the rice was that of rice pudding. I would have like to have enjoyed the dish presented as a typical layout, laid out on a flat plate with the Dynamite sauce then poured over so to not make the sushi a messy, hot soup. *2/5 *Apple Cheesecake Lumpia ($14): Lemongrass / Caramel. Think of it like a wonton dessert with a pleasant apple taste and yummy Caramel goodness to dredge your bites in. We throughly enjoyed this dessert. (*5/5) ***Don't make the same mistake and expect discounted Happy Hour prices. Expect to pay a hefty amount with the name Ritz-Carlton attached. Overall, our drinks and food were very good, not phenomenal. The varying level of service from wait staff seems to depend heavily on your status quo and you risk receiving subpar service if you're not of the desired class and look which I really thought we could be over by now. Our bartender really seemed disinterested in conversing with us outside of taking our order. Doesn't typically bother me unless I notice you're extra friendly with all of your other clientele. As noted by the other reviewers, the Alaloa provides nice views of the ocean and Moloka'i and is a great place to chill and relax after busy day at the beach. However, the food is overpriced and not particularly exceptional. But my biggest gripe is the service. The service is almost non-existent. This is the third time that I have stayed at the Ritz and there has been no improvement in the service at the Alaloa Lounge. You almost feel like the servers are ignoring you until you practically tackle them to get their attention, and then it seems like they are annoyed that you are asking them to take your order. And then you have to wait for your order. During my most recent stay at the Ritz, it took 45 minutes to get my order of miso soup and crudo. Management needs to figure out how to provide better service at the lounge. read more

This restaurant boasts beautiful views and incredible services. The nightly ritual with the conch shell and tribute to the historic site is a wonderful and exciting evening activity. We absolutely inhaled the calamari appetizer and the sushi was fresh. The kids enjoyed their dinner (chicken teriyaki with broccolini/rice and mahi mahi with broccolini/rice, $16 and $19 respectively). The burger was the best we had on the trip. Israel is an amazing mixologist and a super nice bar tender. I ordered two Coconut Fevers and they were excellent. I also ordered a burger (I forgot which one) and fries. I was splitting it with my friend so the kitchen sliced the burger and separately plated the slices along with the fries and a pickle for each of us. Overall, service was great and the burger was delicious. The fries did not disappoint!! Atmosphere was relaxed and there was generally someone singing/playing live music in the late afternoons. Why the 4? ONLY because I didn't enjoy paying $24 for a burger and fries. For $24, I expect to be spiritually moved somehow. Service was very poor. Beyond bad. 1/2 of the meals ordered came 20 min after the 1st two. 4 people in our group. Ordered two hamburgers, three sushi rolls & chicken wings. 1 burger & 1 sushi roll came out. Then........ we waited. Server stopped by after 10 min and said "oh, you are waiting on some food. Sorry, we are short staffed tonight." 10 more minutes and the 2nd burger, wings and other 2 sushi rolls came out. 2 of the people in our group were pretty much done with their meals. Normally I would never slam a server in this situation. They can't control it if people call off and don't show up to work. BUT the server didn't stop at our table for 20+ minutes after the other meals came out. Drinks were empty. We were all done eating. We sat patiently and waited for someone to clear our table and let us know about dessert options. 15+ min and I went up to the Manager and asked to have someone clear our table and for a dessert menu. He brought the menus. Our server then came by and we ordered 1 dessert, 2 coffees and asked for the check. Dessert and drinks came and server gave us the coffee free. We put our credit card with the check and waited 20min for someone to take it. Manager came by and asked how everything was. We very politely said it was very slow. He apologized and said our dessert was free. 10 more minutes go by. It's not about free food. It's about respect. We were polite during the entire meal. Always treat people with respect. But they didn't treat us with respect. This is a very expensive restaurant/bar. When you pay these prices ($300 bill w/only one cocktail, 2 non-alcoholic beers & a mocktail) usually the service is on par with the prices. We were just there last Friday. Service was slow but not anywhere this slow. Went to the Banyan Tree restaurant at the Ritz on Saturday. Excellent all around. Our server, Nick, was outstanding. Went to breakfast twice at the Ritz in the past week. Service was great. We love this place. The bar at this hotel is very poorly run. Avoid it at all costs. Alaloa lounge is a hidden gem at RC Kapalua. We were here five days in a row during our stay at RC Kapalua. Seared salmon roll, shishito pepper, garlic edamame were our favorite bites ordered twice or more. All tap beers are local (but 12oz is on smaller size). Mai Tai and East West Highball we're my fav cocktails. The mochi with baked coconut flake, macadamia ice cream was the best mochi dessert I've ever had in the country. Stayed at the Ritz for 7 nights so we frequented the lounge for drinks and dinner. The lounge itself is beautiful as it overlooks the ocean with a nice breeze coming through. We enjoyed the live music every night and the food & drinks are pretty good Service, however, was terrible. We were waited on by a woman named Shannon one night who was the rudest waitress I have ever encountered. She treated us like we were bothering her and made several rude comments. The next night when we went back, we were in her section and she totally ignored us so we had to move. You don't expect this kind of behavior for any wait staff, let alone at a Ritz. read more

I've been to this bar several times before but it now sports a new name and has its own Yelp page. We stopped in for a drink before attending the 2017 Kapalua Wine & Food Festival. They open at noon and food is served until 10pm. ATMOSPHERE: This is the former "lobby bar" in the Ritz Carlton Kapalua. Seating is a mix of outdoor sofas and chairs on a gorgeous oceanview deck or in the open-air lobby with sofas, high tops and bar seating. Depending on events going on, it can get fairly crowded and noisy. A live entertainer/band is usually performing. MENU: Apps, salads, sandwiches, burgers, desserts, all priced very high. Think $25 for a burger. Yup, you heard right. BEVERAGE: My friend and I just had beers which were priced at $8/bottle for domestics as well as imports, so you know we chose the latter. Welcome to my "alcohol abuse" list, Alaloa Lounge. SERVICE: We sat at the bar and the service was friendly and quick despite a rush of people doing the same thing as us prior to the festival. We had a couple of drinks that were suggested by our waiter Colin. The drinks seemed very strong and my wife could not drink the one that was brought for her. My drink was a reimagined Pina colada, ok but like I said a little heavy. We ordered burgers and fries and they were delivered in minutes. We watched the sunset ceremony that takes place in the lobby nightly followed by live jazz from a very talented musician duo. The burgers were good but nothing different than say Red Robin type fare. This lounge was ok. I was a little disappointed in the small menu that they had. I guess I am use to going to the Four Season's where the staff is super attentive and are constantly checking your water glass, and filling my hot tea pot. The chicken sandwich was good. The side salad that came with my sandwich was 90% lettuce so it wasn't very impressive. The chicken lumpia was really greasy. The veggie sushi was not well rolled. It fell apart when I picked up each piece. Overall, I felt ignored by the waitress and everything I ordered except the sandwich was incredibly mediocre. Sadly I won't be coming back to the lounge. We ate her a few times while at the Ritz. We enjoyed lunches and dinner here a mostly. The service was consistently slow. That was the main downfall of coming here. In the afternoon and evening it gets windy so if you're sitting on the lanai portion of the restaurant be prepared. My favorite dish was the Ahi Poke with Shrimp Chips. The Poke is very fresh and the Shrimp chips were a very nice accompaniment. For dinner my children enjoyed the Chicken Fingers and I will say probably some of the best kids style food around. Their fries are on point! No mater what they come with the fries are excellent. So while staying in the hotel and you need a spot to eat for lunch or dinner stop by but don't be wowed. Very small menu and the waiter was rude. We are staying at the Ritz and everyone has been exceptional in customer service up until this experience. The waiter didn't know much about the menu and couldn't answer any of my questions. He just said "it's whatever it says on the menu." So I just ordered the turkey club. After my first bite I realized the special aioli sauce wasn't on it. I flag down the waiter and I said the sauce is missing. He looked confused. So I said " this is suppose to have an aioli sauce right?" He replies " I don't know, do you want to see the menu?" Oooook. No. I just want you to bring me the sauce that is suppose to come on it. I shouldn't have to review any menu. After 8 mins, my soda is getting watered down and my fries are now cold a manager comes over to apologize for the long wait for the sauce. He offers to comp the turkey sandwich meal which is nice but the overall experience with the waiter left a bad taste in my mouth. I shouldn't have to be treated that way in the first place. And then wait 10 mins for a sauce that should have been on there in the first place. I didn't even get to enjoy the rest of my meal because my baby woke up. If only I didn't lose those 10 mins waiting I could have enjoyed my whole meal. My dad ordered the Romaine salad with chicken. Only complaint from him was the chicken was dry and he had to ask for more dressing because they literally drizzled the dressing down the middle of the salad. read more
