The worst experience in my life! I hope I can turn back time and avoid coming here. Raymond Yeung is bad mechanic and not good person. He just want to take your money, as more as he can. He brought us so much stress and negativity. He charging $200 an hour for a labor, lol he works alone taking weeks to months to fix the car!! He not worth this price. After fixing one thing another stops working - which was 100% fine before he started to work on our car (like driver window was closing no problem), I never have so much stress in my life from mechanic!!! He put us in debt! Car was in his shop for about 3 months total!! He was fixing one thing, when my husband was driving a car for a couple of days and something was getting broken again. Alameda is small town, I want people to know what will happened if you leave your car here! I hope people can avoid this business and don't make the mistake we did when we bring our car here. P.S last time he ask us to pay $1000 in repair in cash not by credit card for some his own benefits! He just rip us off. After he was fixing one thing - another got broken and check engine light got on again and inside the car smells like gasoline (which never was an issue before). It's just horrible experience! Raymond said it's ok let me see what's wrong - bring the car again. Omg the car was already for a whole month in his store... total the car was in his shop for about 3 months. Again.. He charges $200 an hour for Labor - he is working alone, very slow - taking about a week for just diagnostic and after he takes several weeks/months to fix a car!! His Labor is 3 times overpriced! He constantly calling you every day for weeks and always the price is more and more and it's need to be fixed something extra! Just horrible experience. Please guys beware of this business! Don't waste your money and your time! Waisted 3 months, and about $5000 in total for repair. I never spent so much on the car and it's not old car we have year is 2012, I had previously mercedes 2005 and 2006 and never spent that much money on mechanic for both car total, because I was going to different person. It was our mistake to trust our car this guy Reymond. Don't repeat our mistake, take your car somewhere else. Not only was I able to call Raymond and have him walk me through what the issues may be, but he drove down from the shop to check it out himself and helped me push the car out of the way of traffic. Well, yesterday I arrived at school and parked. When I turned my engine off, smoke started coming through the hood of my car. Apparently, my car had over-heated and I did not know what to do. Old cars (like people) can be stubborn and cranky. My Subaru had a clacking noise coming out of the front end and the cause was not immediately obvious. Many other mechanics would just start changing parts-axles, bearings, differential etc. until the noise was gone, and charge you for parts and labor every step of the way. Raymond went above and beyond the call of duty and took the time to figure out exactly what the problem was and address only that, giving my car an excellent repair job and saving me a lot of money. For the last 2 years I have trusted Raymond with maintaining my 1999 SLK230 and my 1999 C280. My cars have never run better. I needed to drive to Portland Ore and brought the C280 to Raymond to go through the car and let me know if I need any work before driving about 2000 miles. I have NEVER trusted anyone to do this! The Mercedes dealer and the other high end German service establishments would have jacked me around, charged me for checking out bought the car etc. Raymond told me that the car was fine except for the slightly leaky water pump that I replaced before the trip This was the first time I have driven the car over 2000 miles in a week. The car performed flawlessly and got 30 miles to the gallon. I have NEVER. felt that I could trust anyone in the car repair business. Up until I bought the Mercedes I have always done my own car repairs. Now I can confidently leave that up to Raymond. He is honest, reliable, and has integrity and enthusiasm . I have old German cars and since they are 15 years or older they require some maintenance. I had some radiattor and cooling problems with my x5 and since Ray have good reviews i though i check him out. Last year i brought my x5 for the first time and he was able to fix it and so i thought. But three months later i came to Raymond with a computer issue and yes he might have fixed the computer issue but my car ended up leaking oil and water. Now every once a week i had to fill out my radiator. And since i do my own oil change i cannot unscrew the oil bolt anymore he must have overtighten it. I will not go back to Ray anymore i actually thought i have gained a good mechanic but i ended up with more work and still looking for a good mechanic to fix all the problems. I would not recommend this guy. I suggest you go somewhere else. read more

Amazing service. Finding a good mechanic for peace of mind is really important - similar to a good doctor and dentist. After being ripped-off in Alameda once by a local shop, I was very skeptical about using Alameda service again. My car was towed in by AAA after not starting. Raymond, the owner, was exceptional in his service. Unlike previous experiences, he would not perform any work on the car without first meeting in person and explaining everything that needed to get fixed, not just agreeing over the phone and me not knowing what was being fixed. The car is going really well. He also replaced a headlamp the following day for free, which a lot of shops would have charged for. Raymond was very understanding in these tough times with payment for the repairs. Firstly, he gave me a discount, then allowed me to pay in installments, which took a lot of trust on his behalf. It sounds too good to be true, but as long as I live in the Bay Area, I will not go anywhere else. Last Monday my car's brakes went out while I was in Lafayette. I contacted Alameda Alfa Auto Repair in Alameda where I live and the mechanic, Raymond Yeung, had the car towed for me and had everything repaired and running well in a couple of days - even though my car is very old and parts are not always easy to find. Mr Yeung is a pleasure to work with. He always does excellent work and patiently explains the work that is needed in detail. His emphasis is on safety which, I agree, is the most important thing. I have compared prices and I believe that the prices at Alameda Alfa Auto Repair are reasonable and I have confidence in the mechanic's expertise. I have a bit of a busy schedule so it also means a lot that the work has always been finished exactly when he says it will be. Alameda Alfa Auto Repair is a place to go if you would like to use your house as a collateral. Raymond is a good scam artist. I dont think he knows how to fix cars beside doing just routine work like oil change, tire rotation, and simple fluid exchange. My friend had brought her car in because it had died while she drove to the market in Alameda on an Easter sunday afternoon. She called the tow truck so she can take it to Toyota to get it fix. But the tow truck driver recommended Raymond's shop to her, they towed her car their and Raymond took a day to figuered it out to be a bolt that holds the timing tensioner fell off and ruined the car's timing belt. she told him that Toyota had repair the timing belt 6 months prior to it breaking down. He diagonsed it and recommend to replaced the timeing belt, tensioner, Disturbitor housing assembly, spark plugs, spark wires, air filter, fuel filter, and many other useless things that had nothing to do with the car's initial problem. Oh, did i mention the car only had 38000 milies on it! and bearly driven by the owner who is an old lady in her 70's. the total cost for her to fix her car was $2700. Raymond could have directed her back to Toyota for the timing belt warranty but he didnt and decided to rip her off. A warning to everyone in Alameda, DONT GO TO ALAMEDA ALFA AUTO REPAIR unless you want to be ripped off with an incompetent lube tech with no experienced whom decided to open a shop. Now she is having more problem with her car than before. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. You have been warned.......... read more
