Needed a last minute same day smog. Called one local spot and they quoted me $80. Immediately hung up and shopped around. Alameda Smog was less than $50. Efficient - pull in and out. Make sure you let them know your vehicle year - which affects the pricing. Seating available, but only outdoors so bring a coat. read more

I don't recommend this place for a smog if you have a van/camper van due to the pricing. I was charged $120 for a fail because some of the computer monitors wasn't registered yet and they wanted $60 to do a recheck. When I asked if there was anything they could do with the recheck price, they said there wasn't anything they could do. Recommend that you go over across to Berkeley to 7 Days a Week Smog! I was charged $59 and rechecks are free! I should have gone to this place again instead but Alameda Smog was on the way. I would have thought they would have at least tried to help me out here. Hours of operation: As stated on their website, Tuesdays are 8am - 6pm. Upon arrival at 5:30pm, the employee (Steve) said he was closed and turned down my business. Price: As stated on their website, "web special" is valid for vehicles "2000 & newer passenger vehicles". My vehicle met all criteria within fine print of the web special, attached below. Upon arrival the following day (Wednesday, since he was "closed" at 5:30p the previous day), same employee stated he is no longer honoring the web special and instead charged me with a "high end" vehicle fee of an additional $28. Service: During the smog inspection, this employee laid on the ground mopping the floor with his clothing then immediately entering into my vehicle without any consideration of debris attached to clothing. I went with Alameda Smog because they had a great online deal. I asked for a quote via yelp and they got back to me within the hour. For cars 2000 and newer it was $39 and $8.25 for the certificate. It's a cash only deal-however you can pay $2 to use your card. I went in on a Thursday morning and only had to wait about 20min for everything to be done. It would have been shorter however there was a guy ahead of me. Steve was the guy who helped me. He was super friendly with me and every other customer he interacted with. The location shares a building with an auto shop. If you are coming from Oakland via the high street bridge then make that first left at the light and you will see Alameda on that right hand corner. I parked on the street however there is a little parking lot just to the left of the smog station. I'm going back here the next time I need my car smog checked! read more
