It was our first time watching a movie at this theater. It's very clean, love their strict no talking policy and the workers are very nice. They serve their popcorn in a huge stainless steel mixing bowl, really enjoyed how fresh it tasted and love the free refill. I didn't think we would finish it let alone get a refill. Managed to snag a couple seats to watch a movie here and was disappointed that they only had seats left in the second and third rows. (Our fault for being spontaneous) But, we were pleasantly surprised by how great the seats were still! No need to crane our necks or lean all the way back. There didn't seem to be a "bad" seat in the theater! This location provided huge reclining seats, and has incredibly attentive and hard-working staff members. I tried the in person dining experience where you order food to your seat from your phone, and thought it was interesting! The menu was a lot less varied than I was hoping as it was mostly bar food - think pizza, nachos, burgers, wings, fries etc. The food was mostly all right, as much as you'd expect from bar food. I also got their gourmet truffle popcorn and they gave you SO MUCH popcorn holy moly. It was put in a giant metal mixing bowl and it was so much, I had to take some home. It was generally tasty though. The lobby is really nice and they have a small gift shop as well as some arcade games. The parking is very plentiful as well. read more

This is a fun cinema . You can order food like pizza , chicken nugget , pasta , buttered popcorn . On top of soft drinks, they have a cocktails and beers menu . You place the order from your seat . Then a staff would deliver the food and drink to your seats like a restaurant. One of the order we had was bottomless popcorn and ice water . Both are refillable during the movie . The bowls , plates and cups are not paper so they recycle them . Seats are adjustable. The cinema is newer and I love the idea of sipping a cocktail inside the dark cinema . I recently attended the Cinequest Film Festival in March held at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. I saw 'This Tempting Madness' and our whole experience was great. The movie itself was very riveting and entertaining. This was further enhanced by the great theater sound, picture clarity and super comfy reclining seats. After the film, we also got to check out the arcade and claw machines on the same floor. To finish the night off, we went upstairs to the large bar they have on the 3rd floor. All in all, it was definitely a great theater to watch a movie. We for sure will be back again! read more

Amazing experience! This is a first class movie experience with food service, Comfortable seats, and beautiful ambiance. This is one of the largest theaters I have seen, and a huge screen. The lazy boy seats recline and there is an adjustable table with drink holder. Kudos to the flavorful and diverse menu. We got a tasty well seasoned double burger, hand cut fries, Parmesan chicken tenders. Everything was flavorful. Overall, we will be back for the comfortable ambiance. Went yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by everything at this theater. If not sold out I recommend buying tickets onsite to avoid service fees. Seats are pretty comfortable. They don't fully recline which I would have liked but because they serve food and drinks I kinda get it. You can use a QR code to order or someone comes around. You only order from your seat. No buying in the lobby. The process was easy. Food came fast. I was amazed at the popcorn. It comes in a real stainless steel bowl. Super nice touch. And it was delicious. Free refills - unless you're sharing you will not need one. Drinks come in nice plastic glasses. Large size and free refills as well. The menu has a lot of great food and drink options. Lots of beers and cool cocktails too. The staff were so friendly and very accommodating. To be fair, my friend and I were the only 2 people in the theatre so I can't say how service is when very busy. But I suspect it will be great. Overall a great experience. First off, the entrance isn't intuitive if you are walking to the theater. You have to go past the parking structure and enter this random door on the right without much signage indicating it is really... anything. Then you have to go up one floor, and for us, the escalators were out of service. The one elevator had of course, a line. If I wasn't with my elderly parent in party I wouldn't have care much but it did in this case. Regardless, so much for accessibility. Impression 1. No advertised discounts (that are only available in person) applicable to certain screenings so beware... also, if you order the unlimited popcorn and call for the attendant and they don't come within a few, do it again! We ended up waiting thinking they may be busy but it appears some seats buttons don't really work. Impression 2. Pricey experience that I would really only go for if someone in my party REALLY loves movies. Aka once in a year on their birthday sort of thing. read more

Came here to watch a film that was part of the Cinequest Film Festival and overall the movie experience itself was pretty solid. Big theater, plenty of seats but unfortunately doesn't recline further back than I would like. Variety of food and drinks to choose from that are brought right to your seat. I ordered a Coke, draft beer, and popcorn through the QR system. I noticed the note about needing to manually close the tab otherwise an automatic 20% gratuity would be charged, which I was fine with and planned to close it myself. However, when the movie reached the end credits, I tried to close my tab but the page wouldn't load. I checked my connection with other apps, which loaded fine, so it seemed to be an issue with their site specifically. Since I couldn't access my order, it was automatically closed and I was charged the 20% gratuity, which was frustrating given the experience. There were also a couple of service mix-ups as well. My drink was initially delivered to the wrong seat before being redirected to me. Later, a bowl of fried pickles was dropped off at my seat without any sort of confirmation, but since it was mid-movie in a dark theater, it was difficult to flag anyone down or resolve without disturbing other movie-watchers. I understand that delivering food in a dark theater can be challenging and this may not be everyone's experience here. But, between the ordering issues and service confusion, it wasn't the smoothest visit for me. read more

Very curious about the poor reviews. We came to watch a movie featured in the Unbridled Film Festival and arrived about 30 min early. Usually, Alamo Drafthouse opens the theatre at about this time which allows you to get settled and order food but it seemed like there was a bit of disorganization here as we didn't get to sit until very close to lights down. This meant it was a little difficult to peruse the menu, order, and pay attention to the film in the first few minutes. Food eventually arrived but they did deliver one of our orders to our neighbor who graciously asked if it was ours. Aside from that snafu though the food was all super fresh and very tasty. The chicken tenders were chonky, yet juicy and tender. The fries were thick cut, crisp and just salty enough. And the fried pickles were spears with just enough crispy breading. Because we like variety we also got a smorgasbord of sauces. The comeback sauce and the hot honey thyme were really tasty. I love an Alamo Drafthouse experience from time to time and this one really hit the spot. Food was good, seats were comfy, and the show started timely. First time coming back here since it was initially Icon a few years back. Plenty of free parking in the area. I like the lounge chairs, but wished they would recline more like a lazy boy rather than a premium economy airplane seat. I appreciate that they have WiFi so you can order via a QR code from your seat. They do bring out the food quickly, which is much appreciated. Ordered the bottomless popcorn and it came out super hot, which was appreciated. The amount they give is quite substantial, but it unfortunately had a slightly stale texture. The Bavarian pretzel was nice, but if you don't finish it in the first 20 minutes, the sauces become quite congealed. I can't speak to the service because the app wasn't working for me when I was there. The last time I was at an Alamo Draft House was in Texas and because of that, I feel the one in Mountain View had much to be desired. It was super clean and the chairs were nice and cozy. Unfortunately, I was tired and ended up taking micro-naps during the movie we were watching. I wish the service app had been working because I definitely would have ordered a snack and drinks. I couldn't be bothered to get up to order food during the movie. I came into the theater with the thought of my experience in Texas. The seats there were much larger, they had paper menus (even after COVID), the servers came by to check on you, and you were able to order through them. Overall experience was good. However, yelp events are generally very well organized. In this case, no one knew about the event we were there for. There were no clear signage. We were asked to join a queue by frontdesk which had nothing to do with Brenda movie premier. We were then asked to move to a different line. They expected us to show up 30 mins before the show time and stand in line; the particular auditorium seemed empty but they made us stand in a line for 15-20 mins, without any communication on why we were being asked to wait and if we were in the correct line. Came here for a free viewing of "Twinless." The movie was great, 10/10 cinema. However, I feel as though if you are looking to watch a movie with minimal interruptions and distractions this may not be the place for you. In theory, the concept of Alamo Cinema is cool however I think that I would prefer and interrupted theater where workers are not walking up and down the isle delivering drinks and food through the movie. Saw that they had flavored popcorn and everyone was The free movie viewing did have to be purchased through seat reservations but then can be applied for food and drink voucher. I did not like how all the food was very expensive to the point I did infact pay for food and the movie tickets. Saw that they had flavored popcorn and everyone was talking about the truffle parmesan flavor but I would not get this again. It was definitely underwhelming and very salty overpowered by parmesan. Inside the theater itself, was VERY VERY hot. Its like they did not turn on the air con. Even the people sitting next to me were waving a fan the entire time. Finally, an Alamo Drafthouse in the South Bay! I love this theater because they'll not only play new releases but get some international, second runs and oldies as well. It's a real treat to get to watch bangers like Sinners and Back to the Future for the first time with an audience after it's already left theaters. The food is rather decent, with special props for the popcorn - it comes with unlimited refills (not that I'd be able to finish a whole bowl by myself) and they use real delicious clarified butter! The theatre staff are also super kind and on top of things now that a lot of the opening kinks have been worked out. The only things I knocked a star off for are the escalator up that seems to have stayed broken forever and the seats that don't go all the way down. I can take the stairs, but I know some people can't. There is an elevator but meh. And I know they can't help it with the seats but I do love a full recline. Anyway, you can't beat this theater with old school movie vibes and some excellent programming. read more

This is a clean and specialized theatre. You walk in and walk straight to your theatre and seat. Grab a pen and paper under your tray. Write your order and click the button. If you hate staff walking around during the movie, this might not be for you. But they are pretty quick and quiet when serving food and drinks. I got the Truffle Parm Popcorn and WOWWWWW. This was greasy, oily, and had a ton of black pepper. I wouldn't recommend it, but the portion was AWESOME in a big metal bowl and it was clearly popped fresh. read more

Impressed by their menu and service. Good selection and actually tasted good. Had the Fried Egg Frito Pie and the Truffle Parm Popcorn. The Fried Egg Frito Pie had a slight spice to it from the chili itself and the Sriracha sauce. It's an open faced taco pie in a bed of Frito Lay's corn chips with the special type of chili, Shiner Chili. Shiner Chili is not your typical chili stew. The sour cream, cheese and cotija balanced out the spices. The Truffle Parmesan popcorn came in a huge metal mixing bowl. It's one of those snacks that you just keep shoveling into your boca (mouth). Salty and savory; warm and popcorny crispy. The all you can drink soda was almost $9, which is the only minus with the price. Non bottled water was free. The new chairs were comfy with the surface having a very soft texture. I noticed the chair didn't recline as far back as the old IconX chair but not a big deal. Clean environment. The menu is tucked in a shelf under the tray attached to the chair. You write your order on the paper, press the button and the staff comes over to pick up the paper. Food came out pretty quickly and the staff brings the food to you. They kept the bar lounge upstairs. I took my dad here for a movie, and it was the most exceptional experience! We had the best time! We saw The Long Walk, and the servers were so incredibly kind and responsive! I actually really like this theater. Despite negative reviews of this place, we decided to check it out. We are discounted ticket theater-goers only, so when we saw Alamo had one of the cheapest tickets in the area we were excited. No talking/distractions allowed in the theater -- but I feel like that goes without saying. It's interesting since they have a paper and pencil where you can write down what food you want, you press a button, and the workers take your paper and then bring food to you. I recommend going a few minutes early to get situated and order and enjoy the previews, which are a lot more interesting than other theaters since they show things relevant to the movie you're watching. I don't really care for trailers so I liked this approach a lot more. The meals itself are pretty expensive but we were hungry. It's okay food, nothing super. On top of that, we ordered the unlimited popcorn which was honestly fairly priced considering some theaters don't allow refills anymore, and it tasted good too and not too greasy. Overall, we really liked our experience. I can see how it might be hard with kids who are rowdy or make a lot of noise, or if you're watching a comedy or something that would make you openly react. But for the cheap price of tickets on Tuesdays compared to those in the area, you can't really go wrong with this theater. It just takes typical movie etiquette more seriously than others, and it just gives the same experience I had as a kid when phones were not a huge thing back then! read more

Our first time at Alamo and we were unaware of the no-latecomers policy. It was a bit frustrating to be turned away, but I can understand trying to create a disruption-free movie experience. However, the policy is extremely hypocritical. They claim it's about preventing distractions, yet servers are constantly walking around during the movie delivering food and drinks. This is arguably more disruptive than someone quietly slipping into their seat. It feels like they enforce strict rules on customers while ignoring the interruptions built into their own dine-in service. We were only 1 minute late and given refunds for movie tickets, but not for the $13 convenience fee. We ended up driving 3 miles to the Century Cinema theater and watched the same movie 10 minutes later. It was $8 cheaper per person and the workers weren't rude. We will not be returning to Alamo. read more

My experiences here have been great. The theater is quiet for obvious reasons and great! The previews and commercials of the theater can be funny. I am from Texas so have experience these theaters before and am happy we have them in the Bay Area. Food is great too. Had queso as well as the vegetarian burgers (thank you for having veggie options). Everything is great. One compliant thought is that sometimes the fries come not as crunchy. Would be nice to get nice and fresh fries all the time. Please also add more video games like street fighter or some fighting games. Those can hold my attention until movie starts. read more

Pros: $9 on Tuesdays. Plenty of parking. Movie started exactly 15 min after the showtime. No commercials! Reserved seating and buying tickets online. Food. Bar. Tables at your seat so you can eat. Reclining leather like seats. Theater 1 is large. Entrance and exit for the same screen on multiple floors makes seating and exiting faster and easier. Restrooms have expensive high end faucets. Cons: Wait staff delivers food to people throughout the movie and walk in front of you. Though they squat down a bit, it doesn't really matter. This happened 6 times throughout the 2 hour movie. If it is one thing Alamo could improve it's this. Customers should have their food before they sit down. Though I suppose people get up and go get popcorn and drinks throughout the show, but this set up encourages getting food throughout the movie. Since the food probably makes more money for the theater than the movie itself, don't expect this to change. I didn't try the food, but most likely will next time I'm here. I was also told the doors close right at 6:15 for the 6:00 show. Does that mean we can't get in after 6:15? The guy at the front made it seem so which is a bit ridiculous. read more

Overall experience here was pretty good, they just opened this past Monday so the service was a bit slow and disorganized which was understandable. However the staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. I came here to try their food because I heard that their food is pretty good for a movie theatre. I tried their orange gojuchang fried chicken- the right spiciness, flavor and it was a pretty decent portion & fries were crispy outside and fluffy inside. I also got their dry rub chili garlic wings- crispy and juicy. Chips and queso were not bad too. Their bottomless lemonade was also really good, not too sweet but lots of ice. The movie theatre was huge and so comfy, ordering food was an ease. Didn't get a chance to take pictures of my fried chicken sandwich and fried chicken wings, the movie was starting already. Will come back to try their other food. read more

I had never been to an Alamo so there was a bit of learning about how to order food (and I saw others having the same questions -like where am I supposed to write down my order, oh there's the hidden stack of order forms! But now I know the system, and knowing is half the battle! The food was surprisingly good for my low expectations :) A good casual-sit-down level menu & execution. I had the chicken club and fries, and eating it in the dark it was pretty good! Maybe it's better you don't look at it anyways :). The cadence of the service needs to the ironed out, but hey they've been open only like a week. I heard the spicy margarita was good -it was actually recommended to us by the off-duty bartender sitting next to us and my date had it and enjoyed it. I saw the Devil Wears Prada 2....not an action movie. And it was painfully loud. I had to cover my ears numerous times. Thought at first it would be just the previews, but it was the movie too. First of all, all the yelpers giving poor stars are ones who have never been to an Alamo drafthouse before nor don't read the fine print and care to read about their policies. Went to a family friendly showing of Hoppers. Family friendly for the new Alamo attendees means that it's more relaxed noise policy for families with younger kids. YES, they close the doors right at show time and that is their policy and their right. They do open doors 30 min before the show time. Don't come here thinking you can come after previews. There is a small grace period, but they are pretty strict about doors closing and their closed. Guests inside can still get up to use the restroom. YES, people will deliver food to you before and during the movie. They will walk in front of you and it is disruptive...But it's the same disruptive as someone walking past you to go to the bathroom. People that say "they should just have their food outside of the theater like a snack bar", then don't come here. Go to other theaters that are styled like that like your local Century theaters. I've been the Alamo drafthouse in SF a few times and I've never had an issue. The new thing that I was not used to was ordering food on my phone. Sign onto their wifi, scan a QR code, and order. That was cool until the app didn't work midway through the movie. I couldn't order more food, refills, or ask for something like a napkin or to bus my stuff or even close my check. I did receive a text like 30 minutes before the movie was about to end. Luckily, that worked and I was able to close my tab before being auto'd 20% gratuity. I liked the old way of ordering but that's just me. There was a small pile of paper and a pen. You wrote down your order. You put your paper on a little holder they had and each seat had a button you pressed that would signal the kitchen/usher/staff that you needed something. At the end of the movie, they would come around with your checks and you pay and leave. I understand the technology upgrade and using our phones, but i've read the other reviews and this seems to be a constant issue (the app crashing or not working). Hence, the four our of five stars. Everything was great up until a staff member scolded me, allegedly for talking during a movie. Apparently this place has a no-talking policy, and customers can complain using the app. A staff member awkwardly stared in my direction for a few minutes before finally approaching, telling me about the complaint, and reminding me that (even though she didn't see me doing it) talking was strictly prohibited during the movie. I was laughing out loud during a comedy movie, which apparently warranted the complaint. Needless to say, I was incredibly embarrassed and my experience watching the movie was ruined. Inconsistent experience from other Alamos This new Alamo seems to be run very militantly and unforgivingly. I was a little late to my showing, which from other Alamo locations has never been a huge issue if you're there during the trailers or just as the movie is starting. However this location they will flat out refuse to let you in and suggest you wait around a few hours till the next showing, which honestly I found pretty insulting. I ended up seeing something else that was really on sooner (but still had to wait around before I could get in). To add insult to injury when I placed my order for a double burger sub for a beyond meat burger and vegan cheese instead of American cheese, or avocado if you don't have this. Also some BBQ sauce as I couldn't have mayo. They sent me a single beyond meat burger. I asked surely it was meant to be a double that I've paid for so either charge me for a single or give me a double so they took it away and I didn't get my food finally till towards the end of the film. When I looked at the receipt it looks like they charge you twice for the patty change out (maybe why they only sent one before since changing a double for a single and charging you for a privilege is obviously fair). They added avocado and charge you for BBQ sauce as well? Never felt so ripped off in my life. I raised my concerns with the whole experience and how this is inconsistent across Alamos and received a reply saying they will always be militant since they apparently received complaints about letting people in late (who is complaining about this?!? There is always people moving about taking orders anyway, really doesn't make a huge difference unless you are just selfish punishing others). They will also never have a consistent policy. Quite frankly I will be boycotting all Alamos, Cinépolis or AMC dine-in don't seem to operate so militantly and with such disregard for their customers. read more

Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Google Maps indicated that Apple Pay was available, but it was not working, and there was no alternative way to complete the payment without cash. The staff's comments about needing to go back for cash felt unprofessional and uncomfortable, because he was telling that with not nice tone. As a result, we missed the first 25 minutes of the movie. In addition, staff members were frequently walking around during the film, with food back and forth, which was distracting. I am coming to watch a movie, not waitresses walking all the time. I hope customer service and communication can be improved in the future. Otherwise possibly we will never return to this place. read more
