Stopped by Le Banc after trying to walk off pizza, chicken wings and beer. Didn't think Los Altos would have a dive bar. Well, it's about as divey as one would expect of the town. Good bar. A buddy and I had a couple of pints and talked about the town we used to frequent way back in the 90s when we attended the neighboring community college. Ah, those we the days Anyway, Le Banc mean "the bench" in French and not "the bank" like we thought. A tip of the hat to the bartender "Ella" for educating us. I love amandine and have been meaning to come check out Le Banc for a different vibe (same owners). It was pretty quiet on a Monday night, but it was actually nice for our group get together. As for the bar, think dive bar but new, clean, and nicer. Beyond beer, wine, and liquor, they have games and a vending machine. I recently visited this dive bar, and the place itself had a surprisingly nice atmosphere and good ambience. The lighting, music, and overall vibe were enjoyable, and the setup made it feel like a comfortable spot to hang out. The drinks were decent too. I had a very bad experience with the Lady bartender. She was rude and it felt like she thought she could speak to customers however she wanted. Her attitude made what could have been a pleasant visit extremely uncomfortable. The drinks were fine, but her attitude made the visit extremely uncomfortable. This review is an HONEST personal experience. I will never go back there again. I was looking forward to checking this place out, but on my first visit, the bartender was a dud. Slow service and rude. The pub's policy is to round up to the dollar before giving the customer change, which is completely reasonable, but rather than explaining that outright (when knowing it was my first time there), he responded poorly when I casually inquired about the change I was given. Apparently he was triggered; he was flippant in his response and tossed the tip back to me. Hopefully I caught him on a bad day. I'm not going to judge the whole establishment on this guy, but the experience is worth noting (thus a benefit-of-the-doubt average rating of 3). Back in the day I used to watch sports with colleagues at First & Main (RIP) & would run into Jamie Baker who did Sharks commentary for a while which was cool. When that closed a classic sports bar basically no longer existed in this town. So my friend tells me the team at Amadine created one and they watched an NFL game there and that we should catch an NBA one soon. This used to be a wine tasting room if im not mistaken. It's a very locals place and the opposite of what Amandine is, which isnt a bad thing . Lots of screens, digital juke boxes and what looks to be a a karaoke setup (not my speed) . Wild place. I popped in 2 weeks ago and the lady that was the manager made me one of the best 'Old Fashioned's' I've ever had. Today I took my wife and it was some of the worst drinks we've ever had! Breakdown of our two drinks: Margarita, for my wife. Margaritas are not builds, they are shaken. Drink was out of balance, poured poorly, and stirred. Old fashioned, for me. Old Fashioned's are stirred, this was. However it was strained, over nothing (no ice) in a martini glass? We were the only customers in the bar as we were in town for the farmers market as it opened. It took the bartender around 5 minutes to produce two drinks. If we walked in the bar again and we saw this gentleman behind the bar, we're out the door..... The vibe/ambiance is weird....There's records on the wall, some oddly placed Funko Pop's and games that need to be moved around to fit better. My wife joked it's a goofy bar representation of our living room! We'll try again, thanks to happy hour pricing, but today was soooooo bad! Went here after our wedding reception at the Los Altos History Museum and our guests had a blast! Karaoke and crowd were great vibes!

This may be the only full bar in downtown. There's a lot going on in this bar. There's a lot of TV's, games, jukebox, and interesting décor. Bartenders are good. I don't think it's quite my scene, but there's something for everyone at this place. It caters to everyone. read more

Hardly any customers at 5:30 for happy hour. Sat at a table. Bartender never acknowledged our arrival. After sitting at the table, approached the bartender who was initially brusk but warmed up shortly. Drinks were made well. Never more than a few customers while we were there. Checked out the place when the kids (over 21) arrived in town just prior to Thanksgiving. My son said it's the only bar in Los Altos. Guess it depends on how you define a bar, but yeah. Full bar, good prices, cool vibe, TVs, electronic jukebox, and games. We played darts and drank and listened to some great music.
