I seriously needed to update the incredible place this has become with Property Manager MARK SALQUIST at the helm! Numerous friends and family have had incredible stays while there. EVENTS were FLAWLESS! I had the Centric's First Art Show in the Ballroom years ago that went so smoothly it seemed like they had done them forever! Food and wine was done entirely by Fairchilds and thanks to Roberto's skills there was plenty of great food for everyone! Recently I had a my Birthday Party in the Art filled Dining room (Yes my work!) and once again Roberto and the House Chef put out a wonderful spread for 60 guests with sliders/Truffle Fries/Fried Cheese curds and a table full of select Cheeses, crackers, French Bread, along with a Hummus platter and fresh vegetables and dips. Drinksmith Bar Manager Tony took care of my mixed drink guests while the staff poured wine and beer for the others. The smoothness that the food came out and how dirty plates and glasses seemed to disappear thanks to the watchful eyes of the Superstar waitstaff of Raymundo, Rogelio and JC! Fairchild has such a cozy, inviting atmosphere -- a mix of dining tables and lounge chairs that make it feel relaxed yet stylish. The servers were friendly and attentive, and I really liked that they offer a happy hour menu until 7 p.m., even on weekends. That's a nice touch. We started with a few appetizers, and some were pretty solid. The Korean fried chicken and French fries were both good -- crispy, flavorful, and a great start to the meal. I just wish my entrée impressed me as much. I ordered the cioppino, and it was unfortunately quite bland. Yes it's a hotel restaurant. I'm giving 5 stars because they made my avocado toast perfectly. The eggs were cooked exactly as I requested. The coffee was delicious and the service was what you'd expect from the Hyatt. I was seated right away, brought water and a menu. They took my order and the food arrived in the right amount of time. Stayed at the Hyatt for a work trip and got takeout after my flight. The steak was decent and cooked med. rare as requested. It was a little bit too salty for my taste but not overly offensive. The meal came with broccolini and potato's as well. The truffle fries were on the happy hour menu and were an enormous portion for the price. They weren't great but not bad either. I did not come close to finishing, good value for the money esp during happy hour. The salad was a little overdressed and soggy. I enjoyed the beets. We ordered basic drinks where not made correctly - had to explain how to make a Manhattan The Truffle Fries used to be light and crispy. The calamari was inedible. So very disappointing. What a cool find for Happy Hour! This is a short 5 min walk from the San Antonio CalTrain. Also located near a huge parking structure if you're driving in. Especially want to point out the service of Jimmie. We sat outside and he came to check on us so often, we felt so cared for! Made it super easy to order multiple rounds. Nice heat lamps outside and cozy padded seating. The drinks are just $10 at happy hour which I can't complain about! What stood out the most to me was the starters. The truffle fries were not only delicious but such a massive portion for just $10. The samosas were also super delicious (love fried food when drinking) and again only $10 for a portion of 5. Came here for Easter brunch and was pleasantly surprised. At 1 PM, there was only one other table seated, so it felt nice and relaxed. The servers were friendly and accommodating. Honestly, I didn't expect much based on the Yelp reviews but the food was actually really solid. I had the cornbeef Benedict, which was great. Our son went for the prime rib, and it was surprisingly better than the tomahawk we had last night at Pressroom. Our cousin ordered the ricotta pancakes and gave them a thumbs up too. It's a bit of a drive from where we live, but it's located in the cutest little area with a nearby dog park. All in all, a great experience and worth the visit! read more

Currently sitting in Fairchilds Public House doing a live review and I have to say they are failing on every level. We arrived at 9am, being guests of this hotel and a Hyatt Globalist. No one greeted us when we walked in. We wanted to take advantage of the outdoor patio, but we're not told that they don't actually serve the outdoor space. We were told that we can't take a seat anywhere...so we did. 30 minutes go by only to see the party that came in after us get service. I went up to the bar asking if we can be served...not only was the bartender dismissive, but didn't even bother looking at me. Finally, a server arrived at 9:38am, but first he had to ask the table next to us if they've been helped. Seriously?!? At 9:40am, my drink finally arrived, but my partners did not and currently have not either. Another issue is, they set up a table next to us and upon arrival from this party, they were immediately served, yet my partners drink still has not arrived. I'm not sure what to make of this other than the fact that they're dressed liked they're going to church and we're dressed like we're going to the gym. Currently, this has to be the worst Globalist recognization by a Hyatt property we have ever experienced. As of now, I have to say this restaurant doesn't deserve a star...but STAY TUNED.... Oh wait, the mocha just arrived at 9:48am... ...9:51am, the party that came in after us just got their bill while we finally got our silverware.... 9:53am...our order finally arrived, missing the Avocado 10:04a - final verdict on the food. I really like this resyaurant for several reasons. It is inside the Hyatt Centric on the 1st floor. It has a large open area around the bar. The staff are so friendly and were working very hard to fill so many orders. I had the J. Lohr "Los Osos" merlot and it was delicious. We had a large party for dinner in the back room. The Autumn Cali Caesar salad was delicious and hearty with kale, butternut squash, roasted cauliflower, and toasted almonds. I swapped the dressing for the agave blood orange vinaigrette. They were able to do separate checks which is such a great perk given that most places do not allow separate checks. Parking is easy as there is a huge, free, public lot. Inside of the Hyatt Centric. Indoor and outdoor seating. Sitdown, full service restaurant. Bar, couch, booth, and regular table options from what I saw. Upscale casual. Fast and friendly service. My only issue was it was completely dead on a Friday night - we were the only table taken in the entire back room at 7:30-8pm. Maybe it was just a weird day, or maybe we were just late. Either way, barely any of the rest of the restaurant had customers throughout our entire experience. Again, it was a Friday night - weird! For apps, we went with onion rings and chicken quesadilla. For entree, I went with ahi sandwich and garlic fries. Drink was whiskey ginger smash. Large servings! I enjoyed everything, but nothing knocked my socks off. Decoration and scenery is great but the food is mediocre and the service is terrible. The waitress told us to find a table in the back room, but when we asked if we could sit in the nicer lobby area she said "oh yeah sure". Then after we told her our order, she asked us again what we wanted because she immediately forgot, and after we gave her our order for a second time she just rolled her eyes. Also she asked if I wanted eggs with the avocado toast and when I asked if it cost extra she said "I think so?". Food is mediocre. The avocado toast is a bit soggy and lacks anything special. I was in the area for work and was staying at the Hyatt Centric hotel. This restaurant is in the hotel. I decided to eat here my last night. The service is amazing. Very attentive servers who keep checking on you. Now to the food. I ordered the following: - Truffle Parmesan Fries: sooo yummy. Loved the flavor and crispiness. - Vegetarian wild mushroom pasta: this was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating. I wasn't expecting much from this dish. But it was so flavorful, perfectly cooked, and just great. Loved it. - Tiramisu: I don't eat much dessert, but the Tiramisu was amazing here. Overall, loved the ambiance, service , and food. This is a review of the place in COVID19 times.  This place does not disappoint. They practice all COVID19 protocols for public places (social distance, disposable and/or digital menus, etc.), hand sanitizer (in addition to giving you individual packs of hand sanitizing towels when bringing you your meal). The staff is super friendly and always looking if you need anything. Did I mention they have a happy hour EVERY DAY from 4 pm to 7 pm? And believe me, it worth it! You will really enjoy this place. Really loved this place. Good service and good food. We had Poke Nachos with the freshest blue eyed tuna ever, the shishito peppers were mostly mild, the aioli & crema was so good but, the wonton wrapper chips instead of chips made this the best Poke and the best Nachos we have ever had 5/5! Hubby loved the Strike Brewery Blonde Ale! Really pretty place with free parking structure. Inside the beautiful brand new Hyatt Hotel, and right nextdoor to the most adorable dog park I have ever seen. Very well done Mt View! Fairchilds is a modern, hip restaurant/bar located inside the Hyatt in a new business/shopping area in north Mountain View/Los Altos. Parking is plentiful with an adjacent garage, once you find it. The floor plan provides for little nooks with library-style collegiate seating. There's really cool decor all around - Silicon Valley references here and there, plus a ceiling high bookshelf with games and books. Furniture is a little heavy and awkward as we had to rearrange for a larger group. They have a happy hour selection of about seven items, including ahi nachos, "golden gate' pretzel bites, mac n' cheese, crispy calamari with black caviar, and an edamame plate. All were decent, for happy hour standards, with my favorite being the mac n' cheese (bacon never hurts). We then ordered very affordable rib eye steaks which came out a little on the greasy side, but nevertheless delicious as a ribeye should be. Summary: After ordering, we waited 20-mins only for our server to say she forgot to enter our order to the kitchen (ugh), didn't bring us water, asked it was ok to re-enter our order with an "asap" which it wasn't because it was another 20-25 mins to get our food, then took 30-mins to bring us our bill despite us asking for it three times. When we got the bill, it had an extra order which took our server another 15 mins to correct. Geez... total time eating 15-mins, total time waiting, 70-min no joke. We decided to go to this place on a whim!! Actually wife read the review of this place on Yelp (Thank you Cherylynn N !!) and then it was decided we would be going there. I never contradict such edicts We were looking for a quiet place with great snacks and well made drinks! And Fairchilds certainly gets top marks in all these areas. Loved all the three small bites we ordered 1. Poke Nachos, fresh Hawaiian Big Eye tuna and loved the drizzle of avocado cream and spicy aioli. If the wonton chips were a little less oily, I think I would have loved it more, but overall it was yumm! 2. Fried Cheese curds with garlic aioli..., what can be wrong in this, Nothing! It disappeared as soon as it was placed in front of us 3. Poke Bowl, more Tuna...., sounds fishy right? But the quality and freshness of the seafood served here made this a no-brainer choice after the first 2 dishes! Verdict, we devoured the tuna which came with tons of avocado and sea salad laced with thinly sliced Shishito peppers. We had a Rye Smash and the Gigabit (Bacardi, Prosecco, Cranberry juice with fresh fruit) we Also shared a glass of the Santa Cruz blond ale to close out. We left happy! Came here on a Wednesday night with some of my sisters from another mister. I'll cut to the chase, the food was mediocre, but our waitress was phenomenal and the service was on point! We only had 15 min until happy hour ended and our waitress was kind enough to make sure we had all our drink and food orders in. #Whiskey and Ginger cocktail - SO GOOD. Packs a punch. Get this. The end. #Pretzel - presentation was amazing. Loved the little skewer/fondue action going on with the candle under the cheese. The pretzel itself was nothing to write home about, and the cheese was aite. #Fried calamari - probably my fav dish of the night. They are generous with the caviar topping, and the flavor was BOMB! The calamari pieces were a teensy bit over-fried, but the little fried green niblets (I have no idea what they were...chives? Really tiny string beans??) made up for it. Def get this during happy hour because it's worth it! #Mac n cheese - meh dish. It's just penne covered in flavorless orange cheese. #Fairchilds salad - I feel like I could make this salad at home. Wasn't anything special, just chicken, cherry tomatoes, edamame, and avocado on top of romaine. The mango vinaigrette was delish though. #Pad Thai - they should rename this dish to "Chow Mein" because that's what it actually was. There was no semblance to pad Thai other than the type of noodle used. #Fish tacos - comes with two on a plate with a side of chips and salsa. I was not a fan of this place. We came on a Monday, so they stop serving breakfast at 930. We literally walk in at 910-912 and the waitress who served us (we think her name was Marley?) welcomes us by saying, "It's been slow, so we were getting ready to close early."??? Okay? It's not like I'm going to feel bad and leave because you guys were trying to close early. Seemed. Like a weird thing to say to us. I can understand it can be frustrating when people show up minutes before you close, but we were almost 20 mins early and were planning to order quick so people weren't waiting on us. We did order very quickly. But while we were there, she sat someone else after us and also told them the same thing about them closing early. I mean obviously they weren't closing early anymore since people showed up like 10 mins after us! We get it... You close at 930!! Lol. I think everyone there got the message. We did see the manager going around telling people the kitchen closes at 930, and he was much nicer about it. Anyway, our waitress, Marley, was kinda short and annoyed with us the whole time. I asked for milk, and she came back and asked me if I wanted hot or cold milk. I said cold. I don't know why I'd want hot milk. She brought hot milk and then when we asked for cold, she said, "you asked for hot." Sorry! No I didn't, because I would never ask for hot milk, I never drink hot milk. I think it's more likely she was flustered that now she didn't get to leave early and was annoyed and not fully paying attention to the order. It was one of those where she didn't write anything down either, and then ended up getting it wrong. Kinda frustrating. Anyway, on to the food. The eggs we're good and so was the bread lol. The potatoes we're okay. And the sausage was sweet, which isn't my favorite. We got my kids the pancakes off the regular menu (they don't have a kids menu by the way. A little strange considering it's quite a kid friendly hotel) and they were a decent size but super sweet. Seemed like there was a lot of sugar added in them somehow. Very underwhelming, although my kids did eat them. There is a lounge area as well for people ro relax and enjoy some drinks and small bites. The chicken burger was good. The chicken seems smaller in comparison ro the bun though but the coleslaw was a good compliment. Truffle fries were done correctly. Not overbearing just subtle hint. Awesome Happy Hour- who doesn't love a DAILY 3-7pm happy hour deal?! Came here on weekend night, and sat in their lovely outdoor patio. The pictures of the restaurant do make it seem more like a stand alone restaurant, but it's essentially the lobby of the Hyatt Hotel. From the Happy Hour menu we had the: - Calamari: crispy, good, standard. Comes with fried shishito peppers which my husband loves. - Pretzels: mini pretzels, which comes with a cute little hot cheese tray with a mini candle burning under it. Pretzels tasted fresh, and we had to ask for more cheeeeeeeese please. We also had the Fish Tacos were good, I liked that they weren't deep fried and was overall nice to have a lighter dish with all the other fried bar snacks. The Brussel Sprouts were over-flavored and over-sauced-- neither of us cared much for them. For dessert we had the Make Your Own Smores which was literally make your own smores (I guess I'm not sure what I expected!) Nice place to take your clients to for dining. They have a good selection of wine and cocktail drinks but their cocktails are so so. I enjoyed their appetizers especially their pretzels.
