I've spent close to $9,000 with them over the years. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend or trust this business. I paid a $600 deposit for a service I canceled a week in advance. The owner, Dave Miller, assured me the deposit would be refunded. Four months later, I'm still waiting. I've followed up at least 11 times and received nothing but empty promises and excuses. They provided no service, yet kept my money. That's not how you treat a loyal customer. I filed a BBB complaint (Case #23237895) that TLC Auto Detail never responded to, and I disputed the charge with my bank in hopes that they are able to resolve this for me. This business has completely lost my trust.

Unfortunately though I've had this bottled up for way too long and feel that it needs to be publicly shared. Additionally, I have communicated recently with 6 other people on the Tesla Northern Virginia group on Facebook who have had near-identical experiences with TLC. Buyer beware! The reason they have such good reviews is because when they mess up, they offer a refund if you sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) agreeing to not post any negative reviews. They did this to me and many other people. See the full story below: I purchased a Tesla in December 2019 and scheduled with TLC to have PPF and tint installed shortly after delivery. After getting my car back from them, I was shocked at the sloppy PPF install. Pieces were peeling, edges were not cut correctly, edges were not tucked, large gaps of un-protected areas were exposed, there were bubbles everywhere, etc. It looked like they had a trainee do my entire car. I've attached pictures to this review showing the sloppy install. When I complained to TLC, they said that it was normal and that PPF was never perfect. Basically their answer was that I just needed to lower my expectations. I originally believed them and just decided I had to accept it, but it continued to get worse and began peeling even more. I took my Tesla back to them and they offered to trim off the peeling edges, but they refused to replace any of the pieces. I let them trim the edges, and all it did was make things worse and left huge gaps. I took my car to another local shop for a second opinion. They were appalled and couldn't believe what had happened. They said that PPF can indeed be installed perfectly and that this was one of the worst PPF installations they had ever seen. They removed several PPF pieces and found that TLC had scraped huge sections of my paint with a razor blade, permanently damaging the paint. My car had been completely butchered. The other PPF shop helped me coordinate with a body shop to get my car re-painted to repair all of the razor blade marks. The body shop was ALSO horrified at the terrible PPF job, so much so that the owner of the body shop called TLC's owner (Dave Miller) and insisted that Dave needed to pay for my re-paint. After some back and forth, Dave agreed. Once the painting was done, my car was taken back to the other PPF shop and they did an absolutely amazing/excellent job - one that I would consider essentially perfect. The difference between TLC's work and this other local shop was huge. After this entire ordeal, I asked Dave if he would refund me. He agreed to a partial refund if I signed an NDA. He sent me an NDA with typos which I requested multiple times be corrected before signing, and it took weeks to get him to reply to me. Finally in the end I decided to not sign it because I wanted to be able to share my experience with others. I never got my money back and basically had to pay twice to have PPF installed on my car. It was a costly mistake considering the massive amount of time I spent trying to get it fixed and the amount of time I spent without my car while it was being repaired. I will give TLC credit where credit is due...the tint job they did was fantastic; however, that was after they re-did several windows that had bubbles and were not originally installed correctly (they claimed the bubbles would go away, but they never did, so they finally agreed to re-do the windows that had bubbles and it's been fine ever since). If only they could have handled the PPF as well as the tint.

Tech came out to inspect my car and was telling me I definitely needed new hinges! I might need a new door! This is going to run a lot of money! That they weren't going to try to investigate a misalignment because they wanted to do things "the right way!" Sure buddy. I thanked him, left and went to the body shop just down the street. Where a tech took a look at the door, determined that the A-pillar on the car door hinge had just gotten bumped out of place, bumped it back into place which fixed the problem, and within 15 seconds sent me on my way. Didn't even charge me because it was such a minor "repair" if you can even call it that. Royal might be good at what they do, I don't know. But they tried to upsell me on a repair that was thousands of dollars for something that wasn't even broken and was a component easily pushed right back into place. So definitely get a second opinion if you go here.

Alan proved other repair shops wrong - not only did he save me money, but more importantly he saved me from having to get a new paint job! I was very upset to find my car with a huge dent on the side that ran from the beltline to the door handle. I requested a quote from 3 other repair shops and they all told me the same thing - that the beltline impact made the dent too complicated and fixing it would require both body work and a new paint job. I was very hesitant to get a new paint job because after I had that done on my old car, the paint started chipping after a few years. For me, I cared most about keeping the factory paint. If you can't get ahold of Alan, keep trying because he's worth it. He was flexible in working with my work schedule and was able to give me a quote over text. He drove to my apartment and took his time in fixing the dent. Being a perfectionist myself, I can vouch for his attention to detail. He was able to get the door back to its original state and it looks just like new. Like a true professional, he tested to make sure that windows were still functional after replacing the door panel. His rates were reasonable and well worth it. Give Alan a call before accepting that paintless dent repair is not an option! read more

I contacted Alan via text and phone to repair dents on our cars. I had gone to a brick and mortar shop for an estimate for one car so I had a good idea of the cost. We scheduled an appointment and Alan showed up to our house and repaired four cars for about the same price of my estimate for one. The quality of the repairs is excellent as we are unable to identify the dents afterwards. Some of the cars had dents located in hard to repair places and he was able to repair them all. It took him two days to work on four cars as he took the time to ensure the repairs are done properly. After the first day, he did not request for payment as offered and insisted that he will accept payment once the work is completed. In my opinion, Alan is conscientious, honest, and possesses high integrity, which are great attributes. Alan is highly recommended to repair car dents because he is very good at what he does at a great price, he comes to you, and most importantly because of his great attributes. read more

I highly recommend Alan for PDR work. First, his estimate was less than half of what a large PDR shop quoted me for. Second, he came to my house and worked there. Third, his attention to detail and craftsmanship is just amazing. My car is 25 years old and had something like 50 dings and creases all over it, and Alan got everything out except for one really bad one that was inaccessible in the corner of my door, and even then he reduced it by like 80%. He just kept working until my car looked brand new, and I couldn't be happier. He is a pleasure to work with and is both friendly and knowledgeable. I have already recommended him to one friend who was very happy with his work, and will continue to do so because I believe Alan is at the top of the game. Like everyone has said, Alan is fantastic! I had a fairly large dent (12" or so) along where the rear quarter panel and the bumper meet. I took my car to several paintless dent repair places (including Alan) to get estimates and the other places said it couldn't be done with PDR and would need to be taken to a body shop. Not Alan! He took on the job and it came out looking great. I was thoroughly impressed with the dedication and attention to detail he had while working on my car, displaying as much care as he would his own car. Fantastic service and very convenient as Alan will come to your residence. Dent was knocked out in less than an hour and his price is very reasonable -- my car looks new again. Alan was late for appointed time so he gave me a discount on the repair. You can send him a picture of the dent and he can give you an estimate. Very professional and good service. While I hope I don't get another dent (this one was a surprise at a shopping mall parking lot -- offending driver did not leave a note), I would not hesitate to call on Alan. It took me a bit to get in touch with him but once I did he was great with communicating and right on time for estimate and repairs to my Porsche. As others have commented he went beyond what we talked about in the estimate and pointed out things I hadn't even noticed. I had a nasty ripple in the rear trunk lid and it now looks good as new. I have used many "ding repairers" during the last 15 years in Boca Raton, Orlando, Atlanta and Northern Virginia. They were all very good, including Mercedes dealership. Alan came out today to work on my wifes 2008 F-250, and repaired 19 dings/dents! There was only 5 or 6 bigger ones that we were worried about, but not only did he fix all 19, he also took the time to fix three dings on the hood of my 2015 Genesis. Definitely worth the money! Alan is excellent. Showed up promptly at my house, was very familiar with Tesla's, and proceeded to get to work. Ultimately, the ding could not be repaired because the dent was blocked by the Tesla's retracting door handle assembly. I was apprised of what the repair would entail and they worked with my insurance on my behalf. Everyone at Autohaus is lets you know everything up front, no surprises. As a woman, I as if I get the short shrift at dealerships and repair shops. Not at Autohaus. This is my second time at Autohaus. Several years ago, I had a scratch re-painted and the work and price were excellent. I will nuke my car there for check ups and avoid the dealership. Go to Autohaus with confidence, I highly recommend their services.

The repair required highly skilled work in areas with very limited access, using tools that looked more suited to an artist's studio than a mechanic's shop -- and yet when the work was done, there was absolutely no trace of the damage.
