Alaska Airlines delayed my flight, causing me to miss my connection and arrive over 4 hours late. I arrived at the airport at 11 AM, and it was clear the delay was known well in advance, yet no effort was made to rebook me on another flight or provide any compensation. The lack of communication and support was unacceptable. Unfortunately, this has been a repeated issue with Alaska, not a one-time occurrence. I was 75K for many years with Alaska, but a few yrs ago their customer service really took a turn. Now, its impossible to get ahold of customer service. A few days ago I flew into SJC for a meeting, and had a flight scheduled to Seattle a few hrs later. Well, the app had told me to check in for my Seattle in the night before, so I tried, but an error popped up "somethings wrong, try back later", so I called the customer service line and it told me I had a 35 min wait. Its was late, so I figured i would try again the next day. So, I tried the next morning on the way to the airport, same thing, so I called again. " you have a wait time of approx 36 min". By that time I got to the airport and had to go through security. After security, I waited on hold, pushing whatever button necessary to be able to talk with a rep, and Im disconnected". So, I board my flight. Anyways long story short, I have to go to the ticket counter after my meeting in SJC, just to find out I dint have a seat, so I show them on my app "1A". The rep tells me " IDK, please wait", comes back "this is a weight restricted flight", me: "so, I bought a ticket". Long story short". They gave my 1st class seat away, and told me it was my fault for not checking in. My advice, fly someone else. They dont even have a customer care email, so your only option is to stay on hold. Waited in the first class line to get boarding pass and check in luggage. Don't move so i move an inch. Moved to tag my own bags. I love Alaska but buying a first class ticket to stand in line to get bag tags and then standing in the bag drop line is ridiculous. I recently had a very disappointing experience at the Alaska Airlines counter in Boise, Idaho. Due to an unforeseen delay I arrived at the airport 50 minutes before my flight, which I thought would be enough time. I first tried to check in through the display kiosks but was told I needed to go to the counter to check in my luggage. The line was long and slow, and by the time we finally reached the counter we had been directed to the first-class line even though we were not first class. When the agent scanned my ticket she told me in a very rude tone that I was not in the correct line. I explained the situation and that I had arrived earlier, and that there were still 25 minutes before boarding, but she still refused to let me check my bag. She told me it was too late, even though her own words were not consistent with the actual boarding time. When I asked if there were any alternatives she told me to call customer service and made no effort to help. What made it worse was that the passenger behind me, who had actually arrived later, was allowed to check in without a problem. The agent was friendly and accommodating to that individual but dismissive and unhelpful to me. In the end I had to abandon my Alaska Airlines ticket and rebook through Southwest just to continue my trip. This experience left me feeling frustrated and unfairly treated. The service was poor, the agent was rude, and there was no attempt to provide any assistance or solutions. I expected better from Alaska Airlines, and I hope others do not have to go through this kind of treatment at the Boise location. read more

Get ready to have a bad start to your vacation if you travel with Alaska. I booked three tickets a week prior to departure for $6,000 to fly from Boise to Cabo. I was treating the family to first-class tickets and wanted a stress-free experience for my 90-year-old dad who was joining us. When arriving at the check-in counter, there was a person being helped and another person in line ahead of us. Finally, it was our turn. Our check-in agent, Jenna, was not efficient and took quite a bit of time doing whatever she was doing. She got a call about another issue on her headset and, after a while, in an animated tone said, "Oh no, you're late for your flight." I asked what she meant, and she said, "You're late by 20 minutes." I argued that we would make the flight--just check the bags in. There was no people in the security line. But she didn't budge. She also made us move 4 pounds from one suitcase that was 53.6 pounds over to another that was 10 pounds under. Then... she rebooked us for the next flight. We were moved from first class to economy. Jenna must have used the word "downgraded" 10 times, with absolute glee. We were refunded only a fraction of the ticket cost. Then she charged us for our baggage because we had been moved from first to economy. All this messing around--and guess what? Our bags hit the conveyor belt with less time to make the next flight than if she had just left us alone to catch our original one. Never flying Alaska again. I encourage others to avoid this airline too. They have some good employees, but their failure to address employees with behavior like this is dragging the airline down to one of the worst out there. If the airline would like to contact me, I'd be happy to give more details. In the meantime, I'm going to do what I can to promote change by sharing my experience in every way possible, filing complaints, and attempting to do a chargeback on my credit card so they can't profit from these types of practices. I encourage others who get treated like this to do the same. Alaska should get rid of rotten apples like this and get back to what once made it a well-regarded airline. We had a mix up with a flight for our grandson and were fortunate to have Tracy from Boise take our call. We were panicked and were expecting the typical run around but it was the opposite exchange. Tracy listened, understood the situation with minimal information and resolved our situation in a few minutes in a calm and professional manner. What an outstanding experience. Flew from Sacramento on Wednesday May 22nd at 6:30 in the morning. At that time my bag weighed 53 lb. The customer service representative cleared my bag with no hesitation or issues. Arrived to the Boise Airport on Sunday May 26th at 7:00 p.m. and a customer service representative named Brittany weighed my bag. Bag at that time wait 75 lb. Was advised that I need to take out 22 lb or I'd be charged $100. Got my bag down to 52 lb, and Brittany continued to refuse to check my bag in or be charged and $100 for the extra two pounds remaining in the bag. Ask Brittany for her ID number or last name to file a complaint, she refused to provide any information besides advertising me to report it as Brittany from Boise Idaho. She advised she reports to an individual name Drake, but would not provide his ID or contact information. Want to file a formal complaint for the lack of customer service and the lack of simple humanity and understanding of a 2 lb overage on a bag on a flight that is not over booked. What I find ironic and simply a issue is the 75 lb overage in the luggage is now being carried on by myself and my family spread out through our carry-on items . So the extra 22 pounds is still being placed on the plane just not in my check on bag. Will never find Alaska Airlines again, and we'll make sure to post this on all social media accounts. Fly Southwest. The service at Alaska was slow because their printers were broken and they separate lines by class. So if you are in standard then they just keep calling people from the first class line. I waited forever only to find out that their baggage fee for an instrument was way too high. Fly Southwest: they give you two free bags and they can even be large items like instruments or sports equipment. By the time I got through the security line it was 7 minutes before the departure time. The Alaska representative wouldn't let me on. They reminded me that I got the cheapest ticket and that I would probably just have to buy another ticket at full price. Fly Southwest: they have no change fees. This review is on the Alaska customer service teams in Seattle and Boise, ID. My son and I were on our way from Bellingham, WA to Los Angeles via Seattle. Because of a delay, we missed our connection to the LA flight and got stranded in Seattle overnight. Seattle Team: The Seattle customer service team quickly booked a new flight for the next morning, gave us vouchers for snacks, dinner, and breakfast ($24 each), and put us up at a hotel near the airport (DoubleTree by Hilton). Boise Team: I called their customer service line (MVP priority line) early in the morning next day since our flight to LA was also delayed. I was utterly impressed when Eric treated me with topmost professionalism and courtesy. Based on the information Eric gave us, we decided to discontinue our trip to LA and request a refund. I called customer service again and was connected to the Boise team again. I didn't get the agent's name, but she booked us a flight back to Bellingham and filled out all the forms for a refund on the entire trip. She was also very professional and pleasant. Conclusions: I travel a lot, but I have been stranded in a city overnight only twice. Both time Seattle! This is my first time to discontinue a trip ever despite that I have been traveling domestic almost every other month and international 2~3 times a year. So, the trip itself was awful. Despite that, Alaska took care of me very well. Yes, my son and I were extremely tired, and we didn't even get to our destination, but they did best they could do to help us deal with the misery. Last but not least, kudos to Eric in the Boise call center for being an exemplary customer service agent. Well I love the airline in general, & often, but not always- the Boise Airport ALaska front checkin agents are helpful (always takes a few tries to get them to add my ADA needs... but eventually they comply)... the C gate agents though... ugh... almost always get nasty looks, stares & usually lectures too... when I ask for "courtesy assistance to plane"... though it's always noted when I book the flight, & then I go thru it again at Checkin... the actual gate agents always act like since I'm an adult no assistance is avail... I calmly say "please look at notes" & then some nice lady reads notes & then helps me... I simply tell them where I'll be waiting & that do to my cognitive issues I need early boarding. Why they make this humiliating EVERY time here I don't understand. Let me start this review by saying how horrible my experience today was with Alaska airlines. I checked in my bag online the night before and arrived at the airport at 3:50 today. The woman checking me in -I didn't get her name (blonde, tall, with black rimmed glasses) told me they may not be able to accommodate my bag because you have to be there an hour prior. She called the gate and then came back and said I was " in luck" because they would accept my bag. Great I thought. She proceeds to ask me for boarding pass and then gets a call about three minutes later and tells me that they actually can't accommodate my bag. At this time I had about 18 min to make my flight. I asked her if they could accommodate it on another plane or the following day-she says no. Then says I'll check on getting you another flight. I told her I would leave my bag outside because I needed to make my flight and at this point that wasn't going to happen. She proceeds to tell me she'll have to call TSA if I leave my bag. I ask her is there a lost an found I could leave my bag at and have my friend pick it up... She points to a corner and doesn't offer to help me , walk me over, or even call them to assist me knowing time is running out before my gate closes and I miss my flight. She tells me they can get me on another flight but there will be a 50$ change fee and possibly more. I tell her there's a line for TSA, meanwhile she just stands there offering no solutions or assistance for me to make my flight. At this point I'm in tears because I was flying to see my elderly parents that I haven't seen in months because of covid. My friend finally makes it to the airport with 5 min left To board. She literally asks me if I want to run and try to make it. Obviously there's a line in TSA and I'm not going to make it. She does nothing to accommodate me or assist me and overall this was just a horrible experience. The audacity to act like she's doing me a favor by not charging me a 50$ change fee is ridiculous. How about you give me a solution on leaving my bag or call lost and found instead of standing there as if you're doing me a favor. I missed my flight and willl never fly Alaskan airlines because of this poor experience. You would think after being on the brink of losing your job after covid and the amount of airlines that furloughed workers that service would be a priority. Apparently not. Due to this whole coronavirus, I've had to cancel a lot of my planned travels with the whole shelter-in-place event. I guess Roni Rona had a different vision for what my year would look like for 2020, huh?! With all the hectic cancellations and some airlines being stingy in giving customers their money back but instead recommends a credit, Alaska Airlines has been super understanding and considerate. Although I know this airline, with many others, are hurting and losing money, Alaska refuses to be that airline that holds onto customers' money when they know they are in need. With that said, I had a recent trip to Alaska for May; yes, y'all, ya' girl was going to go to Anchorage and live my best life in May. A day before my trip, I called Alaska and spoke with a wonderful agent, Greg from Boise Idaho at 2:30 AM. Greg was able to cancel my ticket as my flight had been changed multiple times within the past 2 months. Although it took me almost 1 month to receive my refund, the ability to be able to get my ticket refunded was a blessing. Big THANK YOU for Greg for such phenomenal customer service early in the morning and being understanding during this challenging pandemic. I flew from San Diego to Spokane, WA to visit my elderly parents. Booking with Alaska is super easy. Hop onto the website and go to the Fare Calendar. It shows which days have what fares. Very convenient. I found round trip for $215! From the ground staff to the flight crew, I found the Alaska employees to be helpful, professional and cheerful. On the 1st leg, San Diego to Seattle, the flight was running late. It was going to be close making my connecting flight to Spokane. When we were nearing Seattle the flight attendants moved me from my seat in the very last row (34) to row 6 so I could make an early exit to catch my flight. I made it just in time, but not for them I would've missed it for sure. Excellent customer service! I would love to give 5 stars, but Alaska charges $25 for each checked bag for no other reason than because they can. read more

I have a flight coming up in a couple of weeks in which I need to fly my husky in cargo. I've been unbelievably anxious about this for a variety of reasons which I explained to Emily through the Alaska Airlines chat feature. The chat feature advised that Emily was helping me from Boise. Anyway, the point of the story is that she went sooooo far above and beyond to help calm all my fears! She gave me so much detail on what to expect, let me know that someone will be near my dog at all times and that they really care for the animals flying cargo. She was even kind enough to let me know there will be other animals flying cargo on both my take off and returning flights. This helped ease my mind even more as I now know there are others on my flight who feel comfortable enough to fly their pets. I am so grateful for her and thankful for her kindness and the time she took to help me! Thank you Emily! You now hold a very special place in my heart for being such a beautiful soul! read more

Had a hilarious issue on my way home from Seattle I could not open my complimentary bag of pretzel bark thins... the package was literally Mercedes proof.... Due to the coronavirus, my wife and I decided to cancel our Alaska flight. I went online, plugged in my reservation #, and was directed to my flight confirmation information. I clicked on 'cancel my flight', typed in some more information, and, viola!, received a cancellation confirmation # within a minute! Now that was pretty easy but there's more folks. The cancellation fee was waived and I was issued a flight credit for the total amount of the cost of the canceled flight. We can use this credit to flight anywhere within 12 months from my cancellation date! I'm impressed. Thanks Alaska! read more

The passengers on the plane had to take care of the other passengers on the plane because the flight attendants lacked empathy. One of the plane seats broke during flight and another passengers had to fix it. Passengers had to give snacks to other passengers. I tried to file a complaint through customer service and they hung up on me while I was talking to them after being on hold for over 30 minutes. Overall, very disappointing. read more

They cancelled the flight because they did not have enough flight attendants. Seems like horrible planning. Then they made people wait there over an hour to reschedule a different flight and would not put people up in a hotel when they were required to stay the night. Furthermore, they never let people know how to collect their bags. Finally they gave us hotel vouchers for a flight the next day. They told us to get on a shuttle to take us to the hotel. When we got to the hotel the hotel did not recognize our vouchers and they said that they were full anyway. I then spent an hour on hold or speaking with someone at the Boise Idaho Alaska airline help line and the National help line and they said that I would have to call back in two days to receive any help. The Alaskan airlines help desk also said that just because we they gave us a hotel voucher does not mean that the hotel will give us a room. But I have to say that even as a middle aged woman with no children who doesn't particularly care for babies, I thought it was VERY unprofessional for "Alan" the flight attendant to talk to his coworker during drink service and loudly talk about how much he hates children and sneer about them as he passes the couple soothing a crying toddler. THEN "Alan" began guzzling coca cola out while still waiting on people and continued denigrating this family. Alaska Airlines saved me once again! Today I realized that my flight info had been booked backwards. I call Alaska and got the best agent, Jenny, I explained what had happened and that I had lost my husband the day after Christmas and I needed to be in Portland for my eldest who would be celebrating her first birthday without her father. This amazing agent took the time to help me correct my flights, without penalty. As stated at the beginning, this is not the first time Alaska has helped. When my husband died our daughters and I were in different states, Alaska step up to help with booking at a discount. Twenty years earlier when in Mexico and my youngest had to have emergency surgery, Alaska Airlines worked with my mother to get my daughter and I home. I will be making Alaska my go to airlines! read more

This is why I fly Alaska or any of the star alliance airlines as little as possible. Me: is this flight to Portland full? I am on the next flight but if there is room I'd like to fly on this one. Gate agent: the flight is full Me: that's cool. Can I get on the standby list? Gate agent: are you MVP plus? Me: no, why does that matter? Gate agent: only gold MVP plus can fly standby. Me: so if there was an empty seat on that plane, and no MVP member to take it you would just send the plane with an empty seat and a passenger with a ticket for a later flight would just have to wait? Gate agent: it's a full flight that wouldn't happen (of course not no one misses flights) but yes we would send it with an empty seat. Strong work Alaska. Because there are so few options with flying anymore (except the literally dozens if airlines flying to the same airports you do) why would I choose the one that provides superior customer service when I can fly in your buckets of fun. read more

Boise TSA is fast! No delays out of Boise - I'm 4 for 4 (I need to knock on wood, QUICK). Yesterday I had my first delay, but, kudos to Darby (female) who was working the counter for Alaska, out of Boise, ID. She got creative with my itinerary, and still got me home on time - big thanks! I also like that Alaska serves complimentary beverages, including adult beverages (alcoholic). I did not hesitate to try their IPA, a few times! The planes I flew were all clean, and even had the GOGO wireless technology. I'm a fan. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICES EVER!!!!! I had an Alaska airlines credit card with them for flying and I haven't used it in over a year, I called and asked if they would remove the annual fee, they said no and I would have to close the card. They would rather lose a customer over a $50 dollar charge, pathetic company. Then the customer service agent tries to talk down to me like I am not aware of the policy. I was asking for being a loyal customer since 2006, to please remove the fee and he wouldn't fine. BYE! Alaska also has zero direct flights from Boise to Las vegas so ridiculous to have to go to Seattle or Portland, to get back to Las Vegas. One time they lost my bag and did nothing to compensate me. Booked Alaskan Airlines for the first time for my children and I to return from Idaho to California. Received the email promptly after booking and checked in 24 hours in advance. The day before our flight I received an email asking for volunteers to take a later flight due to the flight being over booked. I decided to volunteer because we had given our self a cushion and had the flexibility to come home a little later that day. After agreeing to volunteer on the email it said I would need to see an attendant at the airlines prior to my flight to see if we were going to be selected to volunteer. The following day I went solo to the airport to check in around noon for our 3 PM flight. I was informed that our flight was at the correct number, an us volunteering was no longer needed. I left to picked up my children and arrived at the airport on time. I went to get our boarding passes and the system said there was an error and for me to see an attendant. We went to the front and were able to check in our luggage. I was told that our boarding passes wouldn't scan and for us to take our boarding passes from our phone to the terminal and that would be sufficient. My children and I got in line to board at the terminal I showed them our boarding passes on my phone and then we were told to move off to the side because we were no longer checked into the flight. They continue to board the entire plane until we were the last ones. Positive note we were able to sort it out and eventually board. Just very unorganized and the system needs improvement. read more

My fiancé and I took Alaska Airlines today the flight was ok. The flight was kind of like a bus in the air but okay .We left Boise got a connecting flight in Seattle to San Jose Ca My problem with this airline is they destroyed our suitcase. I'm not sure how but they tore the zipper sliders off!! The luggage is now hard to open without the sliders. So basically we paid 25.00 dollars to have our zipper sliders torn off.
