Overall, I think it's OK airline. I do miss the free bags because they don't even have first class but they have really good early flights so I'm happy about that. There's not a lot of seating in these seats are pretty small. Overall, it was OK. read more

I don't travel often, but when I do I always take Southwest ( for 20+ years now). Over the years their service has been incredible, their family first boarding is a life saver, and although I never check in bags- that was a nice perk. Last year my family did a trip to Kauai via Southwest and they made it so easy. This year we did a trip to Boise and it was a nightmare. First off, the assigned seating makes no sense. We were either in the back row and in class 3 or in the front of the plane and in group 8. Made it very hard to put our bags away. They took away their family boarding which meant we had to walk down the tiny aisle with toddlers, multiple bags and multiple car seats hitting other passengers as we made our way down ( it just makes no sense because you have assigned seating- just let me have some extra time to settle). The lady at the gate check gave me hell with our carseat although it was a Cosco ( airplane approved). Then on the plane, the steward told us to put my daughter rare facing and I thought it was a new regulation- so I followed. Then halfway through the ride, another stewardess came out telling us that in good faith she can't let us fly this way and made us relocate in the middle of turbulence which caused my kid to get scared and start screaming. On our return trip, they also told us at the check in counter that our bags were fine, but prior to boarding they made me check in my bag due to space issues. But on the plane there was plenty of overhead space available. To put a cherry on top of everything, our steward ( who may have never been on a plane before) brought our drinks to the wrong aisle 5 minutes before landing and poured the tomato juice mix all over the poor guy sitting in the aisle seat. I'd still love to fly Southwest, but after this experience, I'm far more likely to shop around. read more

I was supposed be in San Francisco by 6:15, I won't get back until 9/10 pm. I just lost 200 dollars because of these delays. I'm absol disgusted with Southwest. I would give them zero stars if that was an option. We paid for the early bird service to get checked in as soon as possible so the 4 of us could sit together and we are clear back at the end of B. What a scam the early bird service is. We won't even be sitting together and when we called to talk to them, we were told that is very common even with the early bird service and that we should be happy it even checked us in. She said, "it did what it was supposed to do." Southwest could care less now that they have our extra $150. This is why we always fly Delta. Today I checked in a family member who is blind. The check in was successful but southwest offers no way to print a boarding pass, they only offer electronic boarding passes. Did I mention my family member is BLIND? THEY DO NOT HAVE A PHONE, THEY ARE BLIND, THEY NEED A PAPER BOARDING PASS. What the hell is wrong with the idiots in this world today? This review is based only on my check in experience. I had a good 4 hours to kill before my flight so fambam decided to check in all my bags early. This was a great idea because who wants to be rushing through a brunch... My GodNephew (who is the resident in this state) advised it shouldn't take long since "Boise Airport is rarely crowded." It sure didn't look like it was when we got there. Parked at the curb. I told Big Bro to wait about 20 seconds confident it would take longer to walk in toward the SWA counter than the actual check-in process. Big Bro declined and said, "Nope. We're gonna go around." (Good decision. There were a couple of squad cars ahead.) GodNephew and I walked in and sure enough, a few of the kiosks were open. I didn't get the chance to use any of them, though, since their attendant decided to just help me directly. He took my last name, tagged my bags, verified my identity and, "Thank you for flying Southwest! Have a great flight!" Walked out of there less than a minute. I should have taken that attendant's name. He really was efficient. All airlines should be like this ALL THE TIME! (I'm dreaming, I know, but WHO KNOWS! It could still happen!) read more

I was looking at their website and could see the available flight, the cost and the class. Their agent told me it wasnt available unless I paid an additional $345+. Southwest is the worst! I don't understand the 2 carryon BS! you can't even put your bag where you sit because all the D!@$s with 2 carryons put there bags in them. They are supposed to put second under their seat. Even if you can get a good seat you have to walk to the middle or back of plane to stow your 1 carryon. Let's keep it to 1 carryon Southwest. You can only polish a turd so much. It is still a turd. You will always be the cheapest flight. People on a budget will still use you. the flight attendant told me to put my bag all the way under the seat in front of me, so i did. my bag was so full and huge. he told me to push it farther for takeoff, i tried but it wouldn't go any farther. when he returned again, he grabbed my bag, and threw if in the overhead bin. when he did, he dropped my water bottle on my arm and i now have a huge bruise. he was the worst part of my flight. he didn't even care that it happened. no apology nothing. just flat out walked away. i so wish i saw his name tag because i never want to fly southwest again. here is a picture of a week later. read more

Flying from Boise to Portland took 12 hours! 8 hours longer than our flights were supposed to. We had an early day (the reason for our flight) instead of having hours to decompress, enjoy Portland, etc, we had 4 hours to sleep. Additionally, I had to spend about $50 on airport food due to being trapped with two young kids. Returning, south west deboarded us from our flight due to weather. They should have notified us before hand. Another flight to Boise was leaving shortly after ours was delayed, lots of empty seats, we were not able to board that flight. Instead were stuck for hours again. My older kiddo is neurodivergent, sleep deprived thanks to south west and a long, ruined trip, and will be missing her occupational therapy appointment. I may be charged a cancellation fee. My younger daughter is missing school, which I pay for. More money and time down the drain. Thank you south west. I'm so disgusted with our experience. To top it off the majority of staff were rude with each delay- yelling at anyone with questions, at my kids for trying to sit down while I change our tickets, etc. ridiculous! read more

Seems like the Southwest culture and employees have developed an attitude. It was like the flight attendants were looking for a problem with guests. I recently flew several legs and was surprised by the change. Decades ago they were the independent upstart that was challenging the establishment through their seating policy and fun environment. The bar for air travel has sunk so low, that Southwest now seems like a viable alternative. While the rest of the industry has tanked, they have maintained the same level of "meh" service that they actually start to shine by comparison. I've long applauded them for the US-based customer service support center, but that still remains the only true diamond. Bags fly free. Why is this suddenly a selling point? Bags always flew free before, so the fact that Southwest hasn't caved to a more fee-based model is fine, but have we really come say that a company not choosing to charge us for things that used to be free is somehow brilliant? I still can't stand the non-seat assignment. I still feel like a healthy portion of their flight attendants are more like counselors at drama camp than people who I want directing my life decisions should the massive, flying steel bus I'm in hurtle or twitch in ways unhealthy. As Boise goes, it's a nice option to have Southwest here and it connects regionally to a few convenient locations, and that's a nice option to have. It's one of the redheaded stepchildren of this airport, so you don't get top gate choice. But since Boise isn't a massive airport, so it doesn't make much difference. Big picture is this, though: They take you where you want to go. read more

I've been a long time fan of Southwest Airlines, but this morning's experience at the baggage check-in counter needs some explaining. As we left Denver a few days back we realized that the address tags were no longer offered for checked bags. We were told that the strip that they adhere to each bag has our names and enough info to contact us if needed. Okay, great! But when returning from Boise, the bag check representative made us feel like idiots for not filling out the contact tags. Which is it Southwest? Are these tags a waste of time, as illustrated in Denver, or are they required, as demanded in Boise? In any event, the rude treatment wasn't necessary and a little consistency would be nice. read more

Just returned from a week of traveling to Alabama,Georgia and back home to Idaho. I am having difficulty giving them a higher than two star rating. Although the flight attendants were extremely helpful and very kind I find it hard to understand why I was charged an extra $75 for my one checked bag. I am 100% disabled and was traveling alone for the first time in over 16 years. The wheelchair service was excellent and all attendance were very friendly and helpful. I was well taken care of and treated like a celebrity in almost all cases. I will continue to use Southwest because of their value and high level of customer service. However; due to they've ridiculous adding of a $75 fee to my 1 bag I will look for other airlines and alternatives. Andre, was a true delight and I totally enjoyed his safety instructions and kind remarks. They are an airline that does very well on the customer service side of things. read more

The southwest boarding agents make this a crappy airline. Recently while boarding a flight from Boise to Oakland the boarding agent "Brent" refused to board my kids age 10 and 11 with me stating that if I expected them to board with me then I should purchase business select. I am companion and one was traveling as companion the other on points. He failed to look at the ticket and said get to the back of the line. When we booked the tickets we specifically asked if our kids could board with us and were told as long as they were under 16 years old no problem. People make a company and some of the southwest employees make this the cattle car it is. read more

Southwest gives you great service at a great price! They are rarely late and the flight crews is always fun, yet very professional at the same time. They've always given me extra soda when I ask for it and I love the pretzels. They keep the aircraft clean and especially the bathrooms. No complaints!! read more

A longtime friend, Ron Foos, recently flew SWA from Florida to Boise. His plane was late getting into Boise (obviously NOT his fault) around midnight. He discovered his bass case to have extensive damage (said case was airline approved/made for instrument travel). The office was closed, so no complaint could be filed until the next morning. Later that day, contacted SWA office at Boise airport and told the complaint could not be filed because it was beyond the 4-hour limit to do so. Since the office was closed when flight arrived, SWA should have waived that rule and honored the complaint, paid for damages (over $600) to the case. Flight insurance purchased for the flight also denied claim. What good is it people?? I am a professional photographer and travel with expensive gear. This experience by Ron has convinced me NEVER to fly Southwest Airlines. I will pass this along to friends and recommend they stay away from SWA when traveling. Landed in Boise on a no plane change. Was told by the flight attendant that I could deplane, but when I tried to go to the restroom right across from the gate, the agent, Madeline, wouldn't let me. I told her the flight attendant had already called to verify, but she still said no. She rudely said, "There are bathrooms on the plane. Now go sit down." I didn't say anything. I just went back and got on the plane. I had to sit in my seat and wait until the captain turned off the fasten seat belt sign 35 minutes into the flight. This is no way to treat a passenger. I fully understand time crunches, but the bathroom was about 10 paces from the gate and we sat for 15 minutes after everyone boarded before takeoff. So total time I had to wait was 70 minutes. Now have horrible stomach and back pain from the ordeal. I've flown Southwest for many years and never had an experience like this. Very disappointed. read more
