Car broke down on the side of a mountain, windy highway and they left us standed with 2 elderly people, two small kids and two adults, plus our luggage for 8 hours. Called when the car broke down and they said the tow truck driver would take two people to the rental company to get a new vehicle and then hung up on me. Tow truck driver said he was only taking the vehicle to a different state and was not authorized to give anyone a ride. Customer service hung up on me three times when I tried calling back to get a ride or a new vehicle. First customer service person said they would send an uber then hung up before I could ask any questions, but instead sent a link I could not use because I had very limited service at the location, with no internet service. Second person said there was nothing they could do, I needed to call 911 for assistance, then hung up on me. Third customer service representative said if I didn't have service to get a link to request an uber there was nothing they could do. On the fourth call I finally got someone that helped: she requested a ride but then called me back saying because of my location (on the side of a highway) they would not pick us up, that I needed to get to a safe location for pickup (closest town was many miles away on a 2 lane highway). Thankfully we had family that could drive the 1 hour each way to get us, and they had to take 2 trips for the 6 people and our luggage, and take us to our Airbnb. We went to the air bnb rather than a random drop off as it had already been 3 hours of dealing with the runaround and I did not want to be stuck again at a random place with no means of travel. Once at the Airbnb we called again for them to send an uber and was told I was outside the 50 miles they would cover and I would be required to pay out of pocket. When I declined they figured out a way to get a new rental to me that evening, with the new tow truck driver having to also fight on my behalf to pick up the new rental, as Alamo was showing I had already gotten the car. My first call when the vehicle lost power was at 3:25 pm. The first tow truck driver came and took the broke down vehicle at 5:00. The first helpful person I was able to speak to was at 4:45, and 7:30 for the person that finally set up the car to be delivered to me. The new vehicle was delivered at 11:30 pm. We were fortunate that we had family in the state that could assist or we would have been stranded on the side of a highway for 8 hours and would have had to walk many miles along a two lane, windy highway to get to a place to be picked up, with two seniors, two little children, along with our luggage and car seats. Of the seven customer service representatives I spoke to, four were very rude and hung up on me, only three actually helped and were responsive. We were in town for a wedding we were in and we missed the wedding rehearsal and dinner. I understand vehicles are unpredictable, but as a business that it's sole purpose is vehicles, the way the situation was handled was unprofessional, rude, and caused a lot more pain and suffering than should have ever happened read more

The car rental area is right by bagage claim, really easy to find, and the lot for the cars is just outside the bagage claim doors, easy access. Even though there wasn't an associate at the Alamo counter, another counter associate motioned me over and was able to help me. My reservation was confirmed and I was assigned a car that happened to be the same make and model of my personal vehicle, that was super convenient! I was given the keys and sent on my way. Be aware that the signage over the BC door as you exit the terminal states that you need both the keys and the contract, you don't. The contracts are emailed to you at a later date. (It has been 3 days since I returned the car and I still don't have it) There is no intervention with anyone out in the lot, you find your car from the letter and number on keyfob, check the car for any previous damage, and drive away. I was able to get everywhere that I needed all weekend and that was awesome! Renting the car was less expensive than getting Ubers to get around. Returning the car was super easy as well, an associate verifies the mileage and confirms what you chose regarding gas, I took advantage of their filling option so that I didn't have to gas it up. At that point I was good to go! The process was very easy from making the reservation to returning the car, I would highly recommend it! read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! I bought a package flight and car rental through Expedia. Upon arriving at the counter they said they don't have our reservation! We showed the email confirmation number and even the email receipt showing it's paid in full and the lady said nope nothing she could do call Expedia. So we did and they ended up calling Almo and received the same unhelpful service. Ended up going to Enterprise to rent. Expedia ended up refunding me the rental cost even though it was 100% Almos fault!! I will never rent from this place again. Unorganized, unhelpful and rude! read more

Beware. I picked up my car after 9pm alone with my two children. It's was pitch black and no one walked me outside or reviewed the car with me. They gave me a sun damaged, musty, used and abused 2019 ford fusion, with almost 50.000 miles on it. Last night I received a vague email at 10:50pm stating later to alert my credit card company and auto insurance that they found "damage" on the car. I returned the car exactly how I received it. I only parked it in an empty hotel parking structure for 2 and a half days and toured a small college campus with my daughter. I've spent an entire morning trying to reach Alamo and their "damage claim" department. No one can tell what was damaged on the car, how much I owe..it's not written in the letter. No one will transfer me to the Boise airport branch. This car rental has been an absolutely nightmare. read more

So yesterday I had the most worst experience ever from an online situation the night before I had purchased a rental car through Priceline when I went through the steps it didn't say anything other than credit or debit so I use my debit card charge me give me my itinerary I even called make sure I was good to go because I lived quite a way from where the car place was needed to get a ride there I finally get a ride there and dropped off only to be told that I don't get a car I needed a $300 credit card limit hold on top of what I'd already paid even though the itinerary did not say anything about that I explained to them that I was on a fixed budget I only got in the car to have a good day after cancer treatment and they literally ignored me I sat there in the airport lobby crying my eyes out for a good couple hours because I couldn't find a ride out of there couldn't get a credit card to use not one of the people asked if I was okay and I was sitting right there I watched them looking at me I'm a very small female they knew I'd just recover from cancer I just told them that finally I ordered a lift now granite it cost me three times what I paid for the car rental just to get home but before leaving there I asked to speak to somebody higher up told him the situation told him that was not right that I should have been competent or given the ride home or very least help pay for my ride home he acts like he he's doing me a favor and making things right by setting me up with another car rental closer to home can I go to get it this morning as well exact same situation I have yet to be reimbursed my money the people on Priceline treated me like crap now I have zero money because of this place explain to them that I couldn't even go to the store to buy do g food I had to get my own dog my food because I used all my money to get home I couldn't find a ride in the store to read my last going to change to get my dog dog food and these people just not a big deal to them if they did this to a recovering sick person crying that is not right read more

My significant other and I were having the worst of luck getting on a standby flight to San Francisco for her work the next day and came to the last resort of having to drive back. After swallowing the cost, we came to the counter to pick up our car. Our clerk was casually asking about our trip, and after hearing about it, Ali (possibly a manager) told our clerk that he has something for us. Totally confused, we proceeded through checking out, and he comes back with keys to a BMW. He then asked if we wanted a complimentary upgrade. With that one, single empathetic gesture, he managed to flip our desperate situation and make it instantaneously exciting. It was like getting an intense shot of ecstasy out of nowhere from a complete stranger! We cannot thank these guys enough!!!! You guys are the best thing that have happened to us since we arrived in Boise. 10/10 would recommend!!! read more

Excellent experience! I booked through Priceline for a discount and received good value. Convenience is unmatched with cars waiting steps from baggage claim. My vehicle was brand new and in great condition. Pickup and drop off were quick and easy. Only special note is that with winter driving tires on cars are all-weather and chains are not allowed. There was a snow brush / scraper in the back seat. The attendant recommended booking an SUV for added safety, but none were available at the time. Highly recommend this spot! read more

I booked a car online, but I misplaced my credit card and left it in my hotel room so I only had a debit card. This location said they couldn't rent me a car with a debit card if I'm not local (how many people are local when renting from the airport??) They said they could do it if I brought in my confirmation number for a flight out tomorrow. I explained that I'm a pilot and I literally flying the plane out so I don't get any kind of ticket or confirmation. I have my airline ID, I could show them my schedule, or even fake book myself on a flight and show a standby boarding pass... They said no... None of those things would be sufficient. I had to show a purchased ticket confirmation number. Haha. I'm more confirmed than any of the passengers on the flight I will be flying, but I can't rent an economy car. Wow. Ok. The guy told me all the rental places at the airport had the same policy. Luckily I checked. Turns out that's not true. Enterprise said they could rent me a car no problem. Unfortunately their rate was pretty steep due to availability and only having SUVs. Luckily Budget got me a car for a similar price as Alamo but including the insurance with no problem. I'll be putting a good review up for them and I'll use them when I come back instead of messing with Alamo. read more

I cannot recall the last time we used Alamo and was not familiar with their service. We decided to use them on our current vacation. Encounters with the local staff were pleasant when making reservations and even more so upon arrival. It was 12:30 am and a half hour from being done with his shift our agent Bryce was so cheery, funny, so pleasant and professional not rushing us at all as we decided to upgrade and shared his knowledge of the car options and really wanted to be sure we felt good about the upgrade and understood all added costs. Being the end of a very long day for us and nearly 1am it was so nice to end the day(or start the new day) with such a friendly person. Thank you Bryce! read more

Gosh hard to put into words the terrible experience I had at Alamo in Boise. Lets start with the no debit cards policy - you must have a reservation flight confirmation to use a debit card. I was just booking a car not flying anywhere. Really inconvenienced me for my departure - 100 mile round trip to get a credit card, and signer. I also did not receive the car I booked ( note the price is guaranteed not the car size). Then when I tried to add more days to my trip they wanted to charge me $150 additional for one day - the paperwork I had said additional days $30.99 - so that don't apply if the additional day makes it a weekly rate. So in summary - make sure you have a credit card, the car you reserved is not guaranteed, and additional days is not in stone. The District manager did make amends and reduce the fees after a long conversation - but the policies remain that are very deceptive and confusing. So I give it two stars overall. read more
