In the beginning, I chose them because they offered a convenient direct flight home. Something every parent traveling with a baby truly appreciates. Over the years, that one baby turned into two (now 12 and 9!), and every summer, our family flies to Minnesota on Sun Country as a yearly tradition. This year, an unexpected family medical event required me to travel sooner than planned. I called in to make changes to my ticket, and while Miss Heidy wasn't able to waive the fare difference, however she went above and beyond to help. She patiently walked me through options, including combining our family's Sun Country rewards points to make the new ticket more affordable. That level of understanding and customer care means so much. Especially during stressful times. Thank you, Sun Country (and Miss Heiydi!), for continuing to make travel between my two homes a little easier and a lot more personal.

So from the moment my friend dropped me off at the curb in front of terminal 1 at MSP at 6:53 this morning, to getting through security, took less than 5 minutes. The main shopping and food court area looked new and modern with a decent selection of places to eat, and several areas with comfier seating options if you have a longer layover. MSP airport is still going through some renovations, but mainly in the long hallways towards G gates. The gate area was quite nice with lots of seating with seat-side outlets to recharge your phone or laptop.

I witnessed them assisting passengers who needed extra time, needed some clarification, and parents with strollers. This was my second flight with the new boarding process/assigned seats and I felt it went well. No more fakers needing extra time.

Long story short, I had a flight to ORD that was diverted to MSP and we had to deplane and leave to hotels outside of the airport. Upon returning to the airport roughly 6 hours later, security did not have an active flight entry to reference. So after walking for 20 minutes to get to security, the TSA agent said I needed to go back to the American Airlines counter to have them generate a physical ticket. So as I am walking out, I am met by this gentleman who can be best described as an undercover Miami cop with the charisma of someone who isn't afraid to make his presence known. He gave me one direction, "follow me and act like you're supposed to be here." I didn't understand the message until he started moving people and going through lanes and checks without really explaining anything to me or the others he was moving. He escorted me all the way to the American Airlines counter and had me cut in front of dozens of other passengers. When the issue was resolved, he walked me through the long security lines and had me jump again to the front, where they scanned me in and I was soon at the gate. The dude was courteous and cool and the whole ordeal took less time than it took to get me through security.

So, my flight got delayed this morning because of an issue with the internal battery that warms up…read morethe plane. That means some maintenance person checked it off their checklist without actually checking to see if the battery was operational. First, they were going to replace the battery, and then they decided to fly a plane from Newark to replace this one. It results in what they say will be a four hour delay, but the other passengers and I are guessing it will be closer to five hours. I haven't flown Spirit for years. And now I remember that incidents like this are why I don't fly Spirit. What a poor excuse for an airline.

Their fares are very low because you have to pay al-a-cart for everything such as bags, food and drinks, ect. however the airline staff were the most friendly that I have seen in a very long time! Check-in process: you can check in on your phone and check your bag for no cost or you can print your tickets at the airport which I believe costs 10 dollars each. This was a very quick and easy process. Also for checked bags they cannot be over 40 lbs or you will get charged extra, but they have scales before you get in line that are all the same weight measurements as the one by the bag check people. Boarding: this was a very quick and easy process they called the boarding zones and we got on the plane. On the flight: the only thing bad was one of the lavatories was out of paper towels but they had water in them (someone said they didn't) the seats don't recline but I prefer this as I hate people leaning in my lap. They come through for drink and snack services the only difference is you have to pay for soft drinks and water too but they do have deal bundles where you save money which is nice. Overall I really enjoyed my experience with spirit and will fly with them again and recommend them to others.

The seats int the front where most of the players and coaches sit are large and spaced out like the old first class international seats but better (they don't have pods). The back where some players, the press, family and tagalongs like us is like business class. [see photos] When you board there is food and drinks (no booze on these flights) such as sandwiches, chips and sodas, juice or water in the back of the plane that you can load up on. Halfway through the flight there is meal service which is more like FC international meal is like and later dessert. Food and drinks are available the entire flight so you never go hungry. During the flight after the game the coach plays the game they just played to go over different points. We just sit in the back and be quiet and are thankful to be invited. Oh yeah, after May 31st Champion Air will no longer be chartering for the NBA. One question I have is why didn't the Timberwolves use Champion Air since they are both in MN?

WiFi: 5/5 Entertainment:4/5 Airports served: 4/5 On-time %: 3/5 Which is the best of United (2/5) and Delta (2/5). I have overall been pleased with seating upgrades and boarding group number as of late, and I will continue to use AA in the near term.
