Brought it to Alaska Spring and 1 work day and $150 later they explained that my southern truck (Atlanta, GA) doesnt like me using the remote start all the time and then babying it around town. Others critiques of unnecessary replacements: I WILL CONFIRM! Would I recommend them? Yes! With a caution... (They cater to people who throw money at things. Frame up restorations and old car projects fill the shop.) I bought an old truck, the front springs were sagging to the point alignment and steering were compromised. I paid Youngs Gear to inspect everything, they recommended and I replaced one shock. They said all the others were fine. I don't like ford steering, so I ordered a new red top steering box. I took the truck to Big O's the next week, they replaced my steering box and a windshield camera. I also had them inspect the car for anything they thought it might need. They recommended ak spring for the springs... I asked them for a price on springs, and an estimate in labor. ( they will do it, it's just. It their forte' ) Springs and labor: 700-850 to include new hardware. Enter my visit to Alaska spring two days later. Estimate came in at 1,600$ Yup. Granted , that included an alignment , one new steering shim, and 2 New Shocks. I wasn't going to argue with them over the shocks. I had inspected them before I came in.... Good boots, Equal right and left rebound... Worked fine..... I didn't argue, as they were down there anyway disconnecting that area anyway.... But, others critiques of unnecessary replacements: I Will Confirm. Will I return. If I need to, Yes, As their work seems quality. The car steers like new. The whole point, But Boy Did It Cost Me! But there are many other shops in town that will do the same thing without selling you more parts. They cater to people who throw money at things. My truck had bad "u" bolts on rear axle. Allen correctly diagnosed the problem over the phone and quickly scheduled the truck for repair of this dangerous issue. Mike and Tony did the repairs. On my recent summer trip thru Alaska my CJ8 Jeep transmission lost 4th gear and soon was to quit all together... Boy am I glad I found these guys! (Especially John the owner and his right hand man Allen)Not only did they know the vehicle inside and out but they completely rebuilt the transmission (sounds and shifts better than new) All work was done in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost, even though some parts had to be shipped in from the lower 48. They even gave me a ride back across town! Not only are they the 'go to' guys for 4X4 needs but they are experts with motorhome and truck repair and a lot more.Also while there I got hooked up with great off road lights, their expertise with them and other accessories is excellent.Highly recommended!!! read more

I'm very disappointed I took my vehicle I had an appointment set up and I was the first vehicle there at 7:00am and they didn't get me in until our 11:00 and then took another four hours so I wasted an entire day and they didn't even fix the problem. Then they gave me a quote and I set up another appointment to come and get it fixed and I wasted another entire day and finally just asked for the keys to my truck back because I had waited there six hours and they hadn't even took my truck in to get fixed. This is the only vehicle in Alaska I have and I was not able to leave their shop until I had gotten my truck fixed and they still were very slow. I was Looking to get my Car Lowered as this being my First car EVER...My father suggested it as it gives better performance and Less Body roll, to I decided to get the springs for my Sonic, and I tired going to the Place where I got my Tires First Put on which was The Tire Shop, at the time I Took it in...and they told they were unable to Install the Springs because they didn't have the necessary tool required to install it, BUT....after taking it to Alaska Spring, they WHERE able to Do it and they even Told me that the tool wasn't hard to Acquire, so I left it there overnight because they needed to work on a Few Other Customers Vehicles they had mine Finished in ONE Day!!!!....& I'm VERY Pleased with their Service, & I would recommend them to ANYONE. read more

I used to really like this place but now I know better. To make a long story short.....I brought my truck in for what I thought was a minor issue and they told me I had to replace the engine. They quoted me $7800 for a new engine and after I told them I would drive it back to the Valley and worry about it here they said it was a guarantee it wouldn't make it. It has been several thousands of miles and my engine is fine. The only thing wrong with it was one of my spark plug wires was not connected which I coincidentally asked them to check when they replaced an engine coil two weeks prior. Absolutely disgusted on how they tried to take advantage of me. I will never go back. My suggestion, go somewhere else. read more

Passing through Anchorage, we discovered our rear axle had sprung a leak. As we are not native to the area, we were weary of finding an honest shop with reasonable rates for quality work on our custom 4x4 Adventure Mobile. Lucky for us, Alaska Spring was just that. After showing up bright and early at the shop, we were greeted with signs of a quality 4x4 shop (Warn, Buckstop, and Rigid Lights). The GM, John, was very helpful and worked some magic into their busy Monday schedule to get us in. This kept us from needing to spend extra days, that we didn't have, getting the truck fixed in Anchorage. The mechanic who specifically worked on our vehicle was incredibly thorough and super friendly. While that alone would warrant a 5 Star review from me, they continued to go the extra mile. Our 4 wheel drive vacuum pump had gone out a few weeks before on our travels, and we had finally found the part we needed in Anchorage hoping to install it ourselves. After some more research, we found that the install was going to take more time and tools than we had. The mechanic working on our rig was able to install the part for us as well, and did a great job. Bottom line, fair pricing, solid work, and good people. Give these a guys a call!! read more

I have a 20 year old hummer h1 and it is very hard to find people to work on it. It's also very hard to work on, and the guys down there took great care of it and the price was never more than what they told me it would be before they started the work. It's a smaller shop so they don't let projects just sit there, they get them in and out fast. Talk to Alan he runs the front and was very easy to deal with. They over charged me for my alignment, are very pushy on expensive work, and charged me $100 dollars for a differential diagnosis and did not even pull anything out to see. They are a "replace everything" shop who try's to up sell labor and parts that is not needed. NOT recommended. This is my SECOND Bad experience with this shop. read more

These guys honor their work and word! That does not come easy from me! I would highly recommend these guys as it hard to find a good honest shop now days. I'm a mechanic myself but something's (like leaf springs) I just don't have the tools for. I went to these guys and at first the springs where not an exact match for my T100 and I talked to them and they showed me the book they got their information from and explained why they made the the way they did. I showed them my actual stock leafs and they agreed to remake a set of leaves for me at no charge to match my stock leaves. These guys honor their work and word! I highly recommend! My recent, and first time experience with Alaska spring was top notch. I had a very unfortunate incident with my truck that needed immediate attention. It was very stressful, late in the day and I live out of town and was scrambling trying to figure out what to do. John?, owner, and multiple others jumped into gear to start working on my vehicle. They were on the phone promptly with multiple parts suppliers and specialty shops to find everything they needed. I had to wait in the waiting room for 3 or more hrs and saw a lot of interaction with other techs and customers who were in and out during that time. Everyone there seemed happy to be there and truly enjoy there job. This high moral says a lot about how a business is run from the top down and put my mind at ease to the work being done. Some might say they are expensive and that might be true. However they are specialists at what they do and I am happy to pay that price for quality work. I have easily paid more for work that was sub par with mechanics who were very unpleasant to deal with, that was not the case here by a long shot.
