Just got my tires patched from these guys but started noticing losing psi. Took it to another shop and they told me it was a lousy job that they did. It was peeling off from the inside. I should've noticed. It was my fault. Don't want to bash them but everyone that worked there from inside out looked like they were either drunk or on some type of drugs. Getting an appointment can be challenging with them because you can only call the day before you want an appointment, so call early in the morning the day before. Their staff is courteous and knowledgeable. I've been coming here for many years. The price is generally comparable if not just a tad cheaper than other tire centers. The main waiting area is small FYI and there really isn't a public restroom here, if you need one they have one in the shop area you can use but be ready for the euwwww factor lol. read more

I brought my truck in for tire repair and balancing/rotation. Unfortunately, three of my rims were scratched during the service. When I raised the issue with them, I was instructed to contact the manager, which I did. Despite sending them pictures as requested, I have not received a response. This experience has been disappointing, so I would recommend finding another service provider if you value the condition of your rims. read more

Update 13-Nov-2023: The owner left a message on Saturday after I left a Google review, which seems more important to her than the actual reason for the review. I returned her call this morning, admittedly even more unhappy, since we noticed that the center cap on one of the Toyota wheels is missing ($75 - $112) and my husband had to tighten another loose one. First, she told me that the employee misquoted the cost of the TPMS, it will only be $200 extra, not the $300 he stated ... woohoo? She then proceeded to tell me that the life span of the sensors is 3 - 5 years, not the 6 - 10 that her employee stated, nor the 5 - 10 that the rest of the tire world states is the life span. She says several times that she wants to find a solution, but when pressed as to what that means, while some man in the background is saying "just tell them to go somewhere else", the only real solution is to waste more time and spend even more money. The reply to the Google review by the business after we spoke this morning is disingenuous. Our vehicle was brought in with a functioning TPMS and 4 center caps on the wheels; we now have a non-functioning TPMS and only 3 center caps, and we have to spend an additional $300+ to correct issues that were not present. This is not your family's pit crew ... unless you don't like your family. Original 11-Nov-2023: We could not be more disappointed in the customer service that we received after spending $984.19 on new seasonal snow tires this year. New tires were purchased and installed 3 days ago; the truck was driven home and garaged until late yesterday afternoon (2 days after install), and when we started driving the TPMS sensor light is consistently flashing. We check tire pressure, even though that should be a steady light, and all is well. Today, my husband gets up @ 6 AM on his day off to make sure he secures a place in line early to have this checked out when their shop opens. A service tech informs my husband that they didn't damage the sensors, the batteries in the sensors are low and that is the issue ... and for an additional $300 ($75/tire) they will replace the sensors. He further states that the cost to replace the sensors is $25/tire, but now they have to charge an extra $50/tire to dismount the new tires they just installed. Well, thanks for not discussing replacement sensors and sharing that info when we were spending $984.19 3 days ago. Incidentally, we checked the maintenance records afterwards, and it appears that the sensors were replaced only 4 years ago when other new tires were installed. read more

The people are reasonably nice, and they're pretty fast but that's about it. For one, it was nearly $100 for a tire change over! Last time I was here it was $60. Secondly, the gouged the hell out of my rims and center caps getting them off. I know from personal experience that they suck to take off, and you can't really get them off without some indentations in the plastic on the inside but they made a huge mess of it. Changed out all my own suspension parts. Needed a front end alignment only since I didn't have the capability at home. Truck drove straight when I brought it in, just didn't want to wear my tires out. They called me in an hour and said the alignment was done. When I picked it up, I drove onto the first road and the truck immediately pulled left. I braked and it pulled harder left. I called them and said, I have to work, but can I bring it in tomorrow? They said "Yes!". I brought it back next day and tech told me it was my brakes...? I said but it didn't pull when I brought it in, and it pulls even when I accelerate. So he changed his story and said it's your back axle and I don't work on that. They seem unwilling/unable to fix the problem. Guess I am out $212. I originally scheduled an appointment for the location on 88th because you can't drop your car off at the Diamond location. Worst customer service EVER! Since I couldn't get through by phone, I drove over just before 8a. I was told that I had to call to make an appointment. I called Alaska Tire yesterday and made an appointment for today. Have never dealt with them before, but I was after Bridgestone Blizzak tires. I arrived, and they called my name within 2 minutes of my appointment time. The guys in the shop seemed happy and ready to make jokes. Nice atmosphere. I was told that it would take 30 minutes, and it did. Pow! What a professional and appreciated experience. Quality tires, priced as quoted, friendly folks, everything on time, and I ended up with paperwork for a $70 factory rebate. Alaska Tire Service did not build a massive, modern facility. However, they have a warm and clean waiting room, a shop, and what else do we need? I'm very impressed and could not recommend them more. read more

I set an appointment for noon for a winter tire change over. I arrived a few minutes early and checked in via a phone call. At noon on the dot a technician come along and directed me to the correct shop bay. I waited in a clean lobby. After 20 minutes I checked out and at 12:30 I was guided out of the bay and on my way! My go-to tire place. Friendly and honest. Appointments are a big plus. Today I had a nail in the sidewall of a tire. It was unrepairable. Unfortunately I had made the mistake a few years back, before I discovered ATS, of buying those tires elsewhere. ATS does not sell that brand. Instead of swindling me in to paying the king's ransom for four new tires (like other tire dealers do) they called around, found a single replacement tire at a competitor, and sent me there. Second time I've been to this location and once again a great experience. I stopped by for a nail in my tire without an appointment or calling ahead. They couldn't get me in right away so I made an appointment for an hour later I said that was no problem and I would just go run an errand first. The woman at the counter asked if I needed air in my tire so I could run my errand. I didn't as it was only a little low but it was great that they offered. My errand took a bit longer so I called as told them I was going to be a bit late for my appointment no problem they advised. Once I got there I checked I'm waited 2 minutes they had me pull into the bay and I was on my way 30 minutes later for a total cost of $30 and my nail they removed, lol. Things I loved they didn't try to say I needed new tires seems like that's what all the other shops do is just up sell you. I literally had new tires placed in the lower 48 at a chain store and they always try to sell you additional items. They got me in right away, offered to air up tire when I left the shop and how quick it was they quoted an 45 mins to an hour and it was less than 30 minutes. I was told about this place because it takes appointments. I was surprised when I brought my car to the bay that I would be charged extra : instead of 15 per tire I would be charged 35 per tire. It was snowing and slippery road conditions so I felt it was sAfest to pay the almost double charge. I'll never go back. read more

Friendly and relatively timely service. I normally have to wait a bit past my appointment to get my car in, but I haven't had any issues with workmanship. It would be nice if they had a parking lot, but that is why you have to stay with your vehicle; so keep that in mind. Not a bad spot, but if you don't have an hour to wait for your tires to get swapped then you'll have to look elsewhere. On the other hand, they do appointments so you'll have an idea as to when your vehicle will get worked on as opposed to just dropping it off. read more

I called on Friday to make an appointment for tire change over. I was told they were booked both Friday and Saturday and I would have to call back on Saturday morning for an appointment for Monday. Ok, I call Monday starting at 0759, I reach a person at 0806 only to be told they are booked for Monday. Why didn't you tell me this on Saturday? I doubt you could book up in 6 minutes for an entire day. If you are short staffed then tell me that. Won't be going back since this was the second time something happened to my appointment. read more

I always have my tires changed here. You can call the day before for an appt. It cost me about $80 for the change and $10 for tire disposal. Much cheaper than dealing with the dealership. I'm usually in and out in under 45 minutes with an appointment. read more

When I'm told that can't be done, another shop has no problem performing that service. I do not recommend ATS. After having winter tires swapped out for summer tires I noticed only one tire had any weights on them. I went to Alyeska Tire who confirmed my suspicions of near impossible odds that three of four tires could be balanced without requiring any weights, and indeed all wheels required some weights. 8/27/19 edit: Thank you for the response. I am not seeking any type of discount on future work/sales. When I initially picked up my car I noticed the lack of weights on the outer-facing side of rims and was told by a technician weights were on the inside-facing side of rims. After subsequently discovering that was not the case, it appeared to me the technician either was incompetent or deliberately misinformed me, and I chose to not seek remedy from a business in whose trust I had lost. I would encourage ATS to review training and expectations of its employees. I am happy to respond offline directly with the owner if they like. read more

I'm dropping a couple of stars, since I stopped by a competitor today of which I have been a regular: The Tire Factory/Quik Lube on Old Seward near Tudor. I was asked where I had gone to have my tires swapped last Spring. I told them Alaska Tire on 88th Ave. since I was having a tough time (with all the crowds) getting my studded tires off by the deadline. The Tire Factory told me that Alaska Tire had put the tires on incorrectly. He explained that since my car is front wheel drive, the two front tires belong on the front and the rear tires on the back. Alaska Tire put one front tire on the back and one back tire on the front! So, I drove around like that all summer. Hmmm. Not sure if that is a big deal or not, but I have decided to stick with my tried and true (all around good for the most part) tire swap/oil change place and just try and get in there early to avoid the rush. Alaska Tire is okay, but apparently not the best, which is sad due to our lack of choices now, to receive good tire service. Tire Factory isn't that great either, but so far they have been able to mount tires correctly, and take care of my oil changes rather efficiently. read more

Great service here! The employees are friendly, helpful and informative! When I came in for the first time to get winter studs put on, they were friendly and happy and helpful even with a lobby full of people and they technically weren't open yet. They get things done in a timely manner too. I came in today with a flat tire and a donut on my car and they changed it out in 20 minutes. They even showed me what punctured my tire. It was no charge because I bought my tires there originally. A++ all around, thank you Alaska Tire & Service! read more
