10/10/25 - My husband went to Eagle River Point S Auto & Tire for a simple oil change, hoping to support a local small business. Unfortunately, this shop turned what should have been a $209 service into an attempted $559 charge. The shop is rude and shows no customer service skills. More concerning, they tried to trick us by charging for one part (fuel filter) twice, listing it under two different names to make it appear that two separate items were needed -- but they were only providing one. Both parts were identical, yet one was marked up about 161%, and another an outrageous 682% over market value. This deceptive pricing may violate Alaska's Consumer Protection Act, which prohibits unfair and misleading business practices, and I am tempted to file a complaint. After this experience, I can only imagine how they're tricking others who come here -- especially elderly customers or women who may not understand or just can't make these mechanical repairs themselves. What happened to good and honest people running businesses with integrity? Advice to other customers: If you've had service done here, check your receipts carefully to ensure you weren't double-charged or misled about what was replaced. Supporting local shops shouldn't mean getting taken advantage of. I'm attaching photos of the receipt with the "recommended" fuel filter ($126 & $165), which we purchased for $49.49, and the cabin filter ($59), which we purchased for $18.99. read more

I have a 2021 4Runner that needed just one small tire patch. I get a call from them claiming my brakes and rotors are URGENTLY bad and needing replacement for just $1000. I told them no and went and bought new brakes and rotors to do myself. When I took the tires off and inspected the brake pads, there was over 50% of the pad left when compared to the new pads I purchased. It is shameful for a mechanic shop to blatantly lie about something like this for extra cash. $1000 extra to be exact. I will never go back here again plain and simple. The guy who answered the phone had an attitude and acted like I was stupid for asking if they had enough time to patch my tire that day. Unbelievable. read more

Came in for an oil change. First time here and wasn't sure where to go and how things worked. A technician (didn't get name) happily guided me where the front lobby was and which bay to park my car (I was confused ) Lady at the front desk was also friendly and helpful. Once serviced, my technician, Jaden, was very friendly and knowledgeable! He made everything smooth and easy for me. I thought price was very reasonable. I am extremely picky as to where I bring my vehicle in for service for I have always taken it to the dealership but the prices these days are insane! We got our first real snow on October 25th. I knew I needed my winter tires put on but I also knew every shop in town would have a wait list of about a month and a half. Point S is first come first serve with their tire service. I showed up right around 8:00am when they opened and there were already about 25 people inside. I assumed I'd be waiting in line to check my car in for an hour or so. HOWEVER...I walked in and only 4 people were in the line, everyone else had already been check in and were waiting for their vehicle to be finished. My car was checked-in within 10 minutes of being there!! AWESOME! They told me my car would be finished around 4:00 or 5:00 with them closing at 6:00. I work until 6:00 on the other side of town and let them know I might not be able to pick up my car tonight. They offered to allow me to pay over the phone, lock my car and stash the key for me. I was able to get my car back the same day even though they were closed when I arrived. They even left a copy of my receipt in the cup holder. My experience with them couldn't have been better. I'll be returning in the spring for my tire change over and every seasonal change that follows! read more

These guys rock. Super friendly, helpful, and do honest work. They're always busy at tire changeover season so get there early. But that's no different than any other tire shop in Alaska in spring/fall. What you need to know, right off the bat: This is the only place in town that sells Nokian tires. What's a Nokian? Well, it's a Finnish company that makes the best winter tires on earth. Their studless winter tires are better than most studded tires. Their studded tires have set the land speed record on ice (I'm not kidding, look it up). After much debate I decided to go with their studless tire: the Hakkapeliitta R2. Now, where to buy? I comparison shopped many places online but, after shipping (sorry Alaskans!), Anchorage Tire Factory always came out ahead. I put a $100 deposit on the tires. The friendly lady on the phone informed me that I could get them put on on a first-come-first-serve basiss. I showed up on a Saturday morning and it took about 1.5 hrs to get them put on (I wasn't given an estimate, unfortunately). Luckily they had decent coffee and passable WiFi while I waited. How are the tires? I don't know yet, still waiting on some SNOW! read more

I have been going to this location for 7 years. This is the most insane and challenging time of year for a tire shop -- tire swap out for winter studs. During the time that I wait inside the waiting room, this time 2 hours; I can observe the dynamics of the employees. Ryan Sullivan, manager, sets a perfect example for the rest of the employees. It was obvious that he was pulled in multiple directions at the same time, yet he remained positive, courteous, helpful at all times. He looked customers in the eyes, responded appropriately, smiled, took the time necessary to assist while being rushed. Almost all the other employees followed suit. The previous manager who now runs a different area in the shop (sorry, can't remember name) has also set the same example for years. They've gotten busier with Johnson's Tires going out of business a couple years back, and I hope that Point S opens an additional shop in Anchorage, since the waiting in line in freezing temps early in morning has given me pause to go to another location where I can make an appt. read more

Great shop for a quick mount and balance for wheels! Brought my own wheels, tires, and TPMS sensors which got mounted and balanced for $110! First come first serve basis and they don't damage your wheels unlike Muffler City... customer service was friendly and knowledgeable. Super laid back guys that do great work. The customer service is absolutely terrible. I've been in the shop for over an hour as my car is being worked on and not one employee besides the person who checked me in has said one word to me. You would think I would get an update on how much more time I might be waiting etc. The person working on my vehicle keeps getting distracted with the smallest of things delaying me getting out of here. This review is a year overdue, as I made a promise to give them a review for their service. I had some fairly cheap wheel covers on my car (the hard plastic, snap on kind). After they changed over my tires, I left the parking lot, and on the initial dip out the cover popped off and rolled into the street. I circled back into the parking lot to check on the situation. An employee there (I don't know the gentleman's name), saw what happened and went walking into the middle of the street to look for it himself. After a few minutes, he came back with a few broken pieces of it. We bought our snow tires from this company in fall of 2019. At that time they were Anchorage Tire Factory. We returned in April 2020 for the change back to regular tire and again in October 2020 to put our snow tires back on. We just returned today for a change over to regular tires and we were denied service. They said that because one tire is different than the other 3, and the car has ABS it was a liability issue and unsafe for them to put our tires back on. They claimed this was a company policy. Apparently this policy varies depending on who is working on your vehicle. They have dealt with our car and the same set of tires 3 times prior and not once was this ever brought up. They did not mention this at all when we were spending $1400 on a full set of tires and rims, installing the snow tires or changing them back.They dropped the ball three times in mentioning this and refused to do anything to rectify their error. We spoke with a manager name Shaun Webb who acknowledged they made a error but was extremely rude and refused to do anything to resolve this issue other than to try to sell us more tires. He was very sarcastic, condesencing and had a nasty attitude. When we asked about how to contact corporate he refused to give this information and said didnt know if there was a corporate office. He stated, "This is Alaska. I dont know anything about that." They have not only shown negligence but horrible customer service. read more

I have used ATF a couple of times and so had my employer (for the company and personal cars) with no problems. Unfortunately I will NOT be going back and will NOT recommend them either. I have NEVER been treated so rudely at a place of business before this!! I dropped off my car at 7:55 am (they open at 8) the service desk was already working and I was checked in and told it would be 2 hours. I work nearby so I walked to work and waited. At 11:30 am I called to see if my car was done since I had not heard from them. I was told it was "on the rack" and that they would call me as soon as it was done. At 12:44 I called them again and was told it was done. I asked why I did not receive a call and was TOLD that I had been called and told my car was ready. REALLY?!?!? She actually tried to argue with me about this!! I do understand they are busy this time of the year but don't tell your customers 2 hours and then not even start on it until 3 1/2 hours later and not have the decency to call when it does get done! But what really prompted this review was how I was treated and spoken too!! I got a ride and was at their shop within 10 minutes. The lady behind the counter (she was the one that I had spoken with throughout this whole ordeal) did not seem at all apologetic as she told me my car had been done since noon. She was very rude and acted as though I was inconveniencing her!! She did say "Sorry", several times in fact, but in such a SNOTTY and CONDESCENDING tone that I was almost speechless in anger! After informing her that my time was valuable and she did not care how inconvenienced I had been by this lack of professionalism and courtesy she again said "Sorry" in the same tone. There is a BIG difference between 2 hours and 5!! I did inform her as I walked away that I would NO LONGER be a returning customer and neither will my employer or anyone else I can share this with! read more

Called Keven and he was awesome. Got to my car quickly. Here is what impressed me. They had an accident and damaged one of my tires. He immediately called me to tell me and told me he had already ordered a replacement tire. I was quite impressed. Some of the guys who worked the front desk lacked a little in personality but they aren't used care salesmen. They are hard working tire guys. I don't fault them for lack of chatting skills. My car was brought to Point S for repairs after a wreck. I have a had a noise in the wheel that was damaged ever since, and it's been 3 months. Took it back to them and was told it was the exhaust and a tow package that had been put on. The took off the tow package and replace the bushings on the exhaust. They handed me a hanger for the exhaust that wasn't put back on, even though it had been on there since the tow package was installed. They didn't get rid of the noise. Ended up taking it to Toyota and the wrong size bolt was used to put my shock back on and a part for my parking brake is missing. It has been three months and countless hours on the phone and a huge headache trying to get my car repaired. I've been without a car for a week now and will be for at least another week. I would not recommend them for any work or repairs. read more

Went in randomly on a Saturday thinking I could set up an appointment but instead they were able to take my car in and put new MUCH NEEDED tires on my car in a jiffy. While I wanted with my 6 month old daughter I watched how our solar system works on the SCI-FI channel. Did you know Mars has a 90,000ft volcano and the planet is lopsided! I know I know. My mind was blown as well. They have free coffee and popcorn and a soda machine. The lady at the front desk was super sweet and I had a great experience. I didn't have an appointment and needed some better all season tires, since I was coming from Florida to Alaska. I got my truck from the port and was able to get my tires on same day. There was a small hiccup with a plastic piece that broke but the technician was honest and up front about him doing it. You don't see that anymore or it's rare. I'd come back these guys. Outstanding service! I was out of town for a week and my wife had to get studs on my truck while I was gone. We just moved to Alaska and didn't know who was a good tire dealer in town. My wife called ATF and they got her in right away. Ben was awesome and the guys took very good care of my her, which I greatly appreciated. We called other tire stores but they were almost too busy to even talk to us on the phone. Worst experience I have ever had with a tire place. I ordered 8 tires and had them delivered to this recommended installer. I called a few days before to see if all the tires had arrived yet and was told once I get a email that they had been delivered they would be there. So this place is first come first serve so I showed up with both trucks at 6:30am and was second in line. Had to wait for place to open at 8:00am. When I got inside I turned in both trucks keys. Then after a few minutes a man comes out and says I only have two tires here. So I asked where is the other six tires he said they hadn't been delivered yet. So I showed him that FedEx delivered the six tires on Thursday and the last two on Friday. Then he got an attitude and said would you like to go see for yourself. I replied no but where are the tires he I don't know that is something you have to take up with FedEx and tirerack. So if you want unprofessional customer service and tires that you paid for to turn up missing Then this is the place for you. But if not then I would go somewhere else. read more
