My fiancé & I had an emergency situation with our back tire that was about to blow, and we needed help fast. My fiancé is heading out for work at the end of the day, and I have to drive the car back home, so this could have been a really stressful situation. But Kevin at American Tire and Auto got us in immediately and took care of everything right away. The whole process was quick, easy, and way more affordable than we expected. He was professional and genuinely helpful when we really needed it. The tires we decided on were at the downtown location, and he made sure they got here in a timely manner. This establishment sold me a defective tire, and after 100 miles or less, the person who answered the phone cannot clearly see that it is defective, and will not replace or refund. Someone needs an appointment with eye doctor or an appointment with the BBB. Never again. read more

I usually go to Alyeska Tire, but I decided to try this place on a recommendation from someone close to me. First I went to their downtown location which has a closed sign on it. Indefinitely? Who knows. It was vague. The winter tire season was extended due to COVID, so it was actually kind of difficult to get serviced here. I had to try 3 times before they weren't booked up. You MUST get here early in the morning. I arrived at 7:30am on the 3rd day, and had my car back by about 12:45pm. Service was fast and friendly and it was $4 cheaper than Alyeska. ($80 instead of $84) See y'all in a year! read more

went in for an alignment because my jeep would wobble at 65mph, was told to also get tire balanced. Turns out alignment was not that bad but tires were way out of balanced. Whole thing only took 2 hours and wobble disappeared. FAST. HASSLE FREE. read more

Personally witnessed an employee backing a truck out of one of the bays and bumping into the front bumper of a customers parked truck. Employee driving know, employee who was "guiding" the driver saw it happen, and all went on as if nothing happened. Over the phone was not very informative on what we were asking. Employee called to tell me the truck was ready, but when I asked questions about what they did/found with the tire, employee was not familiar with my vehicle. Quick google/amazon shows that you are being over charged roughly $100 per tire. read more

Last winter Dec 3rd, 2019 I purchased a set Rims and studded tires for my wife's 2018 4Runner for $1800.00. I went to install the tires today only to find they were installed with the incorrect lug nuts. The front lug nuts thread engagement was only (4) four threads. I drove down to American Tire & Auto on Old Seward and spoke to Brandon, he referenced my purchase order receipt in his computer. After a quick trip outside and inspection he determined the incorrect lug nuts were installed. He provided the correct lug nuts at no charge and offered to install them. I politely declined the installation and installed them myself. This very well could of ended with a catastrophic failure that could of resulted in serious injury or death..... Please review the before and after pictures. The scary part for me was since my rims came with center caps I never noticed it last year. Brandon took 100% ownership of the mistake and corrected the issue at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGES which was the only correct thing to do! read more

Never coming back here! I came in here to get a flat fixed in one of the tires I bought here 3 months ago AND THEY'RE MAKING ME PAY FOR A NEW ONE. While I was trying to explain how the tire popped, the manager proceeded to tell me I was lying and began yelling at me and talking over me. Kevin was completely disrespectful and unprofessional. I've purchased four sets of tires there in the past year. While I suspect I could get tires for less elsewhere. They are friendly. They are fast. They call promptly. They donate old tires. Yes, they sell the sell, but that is their job. I had a problem with a tire pressure sensor, they fixed it, quickly. I had a interesting day when I went into American tire n auto so I initially had a tire repair done to my 2008golf r32 which resulted in success with no damage done to the car on my bmw m235i I had a hole in my tire I found so I immediately called American tire and auto they removed the tire and someone dented the wheel with the bead breaker thankfully they were honest and admitted to the mistake which they offered to purchase me a brand new rim free of charge and free tire repair I just want to say thank you for your honesty and not making a big deal about the situation you guys handled it professional which will result in a return customer thank you. read more

Worst experience ever. I sent my girlfriend there after being quoted $782 for a set of new tires for her mom's car. The first gentleman she talked to was super nice and helpful. Our problem is with the manager. The employee had to ask whatever dickheaded manager was working on 07-02-2014, and he started off rude from the beginning. Talked to my girlfriend like she didn't know what she was doing. Told her that he doesn't sell our tires in the brand THEY quoted us for. He quoted her $911 for whatever he felt like ripping her off for, didn't have her sign a work order to have the tires put on, then made her pay $949 when she came to pick it up stating that she "heard" him wrong. My girl doesn't "Hear" people wrong when it comes to having to spend almost $1000. I don't mind spending the $1000. I don't mind being quoted the wrong amount two different times. I can even get past a shop taking my car without having a work order signed first. My whole problem with this place is that a rude, disrepectful, and clearly sexist pig is the guy who runs the place. I now have to contact their corporate office to complain because I don't want tires that they sell on a car when I'm paying for them. It comes down to simple trust. I can't trust a man who treats people the way that guy did. I can't trust a man who takes someone's car without having them sign something that tells them what is going to be done to it. So if I can't trust the guy who runs the place, how can I trust his workmanship? In the end, I know tires. I know shops are bound to certain sizes, and do not like stepping out of the recommended sizes for safety reasons. I understand that he probably deals with a lot of know-it-alls who think he doesn't know what he is doing, but WTF? I know that being a tire guy can be super frustrating when dealing with know-it-alls. And being a manager of all that can take its toll, but this guy takes the cake. Don't be a manager if you cannot handle it. I personally have dealt with American Tire in the past on two occasions, and had great experiences with them. Would have recommended them in a heart beat and would still recommend them if you go to a different location i guess. I just wouldn't go to this one. read more

Terrible service from their Old Seward location. I was first in line to get my studded tires swapped out and after 3 hours called to ask what was going on. After telling me is was "just about done" they called me back 45 minutes later to say that it was ready. There were at least 15 people in line when they opened and not a soul there when I picked up my car. Stuff happens, they forgot about me somehow, I get it, but the guy lied to me about why it took so long, the right front tire was flat the next day. I used a tire gauge the next morning to test the tires and they all had different levels of air in them. And the tires aren't balanced and one was wobbly. A disaster all around. I took my car to real tire store since and everything has been smooth since. read more

Two hours later with no call from them I called and they said it'll be around a half hour. In other words, standing in line at that location means nothing. read more

I went there about 1:30 Pm on a Monday to pick and get tires installed that I had previously called for. When I got there it didn't seem that busy. The guy had told me they were in stock prior and they could install them however when I arrived he was so unprofessional... he had said that they could install them but my car wouldn't be done until 10pm and that he wanted to get home at a decent time.... and said it was up to me then repeated himself saying he would like to get home before 11. I said money is money and walked out got them somewhere else cheaper and installed right then and there with no complaints from the man. read more

the front desk manager frank is extremely rude, very nasty and does not know anything about customer service. he does not listen, he just talks to get his point accross. he is not truthful and i had the worst experience ever. i purchased 4 new tires in october 2021 and i had to have two front tires replaced on feb. 17, 2022. i believe the tires were not aligned when we first had them installed. frank says its was our fault because we didn't ask for an alignement when we had the tires installed. we pay $800 for a new set of tires and he says he asked us did we want the tires aligned and we said no (do you believe that)? so the 2 replacement tires an alignement cost us $452. we are retired military and he said no discount, your fault pay or leave. please beware, terrible customer service and no way to treat your local customers. the manager hasn't reached out by email. please stay away go somewhere else. stay far far far far away. read more

I waited 6 days to get my new rims and studded tire change that were in stock from their other store and invoiced me $40 for shipping. They didn't contact me regarding my order. I had to call them. Next morning, I brought me truck in at 8:15am and they told me I'm third in line. I sat and waited patiently. I notice six gentlemen have come and gone. By 10:36, I looked outside and notice they still haven't worked on my truck. I asked them for the third time about my truck. Now, they told me I'm fifth in line and they didn't know I was sitting and waiting in the front! No apologies, no explanation. I asked for the manager. He told me I will be next. By 10:45, they took my truck in. At 11:20, new tires were installed without my new rims. I was surprised to not see new rims. I just wanted to get out for this place. Then, they charged me installation and wheel balance fees (x4) when the original invoice didn't show it. Bait and switch scam! They make the invoice look good and when you get it done they add fees to the new invoice. What are you going to do? Ask them to take the tires off and wait another three hours. Worst experience ever. Don't trust these people. Please take your vehicle elsewhere. read more

Oh, my god, this was such an aggravating experience. I dropped off my truck and asked for a tire balance using the Road Force Balance machine. I'd called ahead to make sure they had one, and they said they did and I'd just have to drop my truck off with them. After I dropped my truck off, they called me 20 minutes later saying they wouldn't balance my tires because there was nothing wrong with the tires and the truck drives great. I can assure you, it did not drive "great." It was driving awful, with a bad shake in the steering wheel and a pull to one side. Somehow they missed that during their "test drive." They stated "probably something bigger is wrong, but I'm telling you there is nothing wrong with those tires" and refused to complete the service. I took them on a test drive with me and the mechanic saw the steering wheel shaking back and forth, and admitted that my tires did in fact need balancing. I left again while they did the service, and came back to pick up my truck. This time they told me that although all four of my tires were in fact out of balance and that I was right after all, they still didn't complete the requested service (balancing with more sensitive and effective Road Force Balance machine). They balanced the tires with a regular balancer, which is not adequate and not what I requested. These people wasted almost four hours of my time, and I'm out fifty bucks and STILL don't have the service I requested. I am assuming this nonsense is because I'm female and women are not allowed to understand what is wrong with a vehicle. Women have to deal with this all the time, so we're used to it. Yet I still can't believe they'd rather argue with me about what's wrong with my truck than just take my $80 and do the service I requested and send me on my way a happy customer. They'd rather stroke their own egos and act dismissively to a customer. Unbelievable. I've since had the tires balanced with a Road Force machine at another shop (no way was I going back to American Tire and wasting another afternoon arguing with them about what service I wanted), and they are driving fine now. I'll never go to American Tire again. This shop needs to step up its customer service game in a big way. read more

I spent $1200 in tires and wanted an alignment. No alignment guy. They told me to bring it back another day. I have tried 3 times to get it done and they pretty much don't want to do it. Depends on who's at the counter. I went in last fall for a tire change, arriving less than 5 minutes after they opened. I had sprained my ankle the night before and had to limp from the back of their icy, uneven parking lot, only to be told that they weren't doing any more tire changes that day. Besides that, the jerk I dealt with was sarcastic, insulting and abusive. I've been a return customer there since 2007, bought two sets of tires and a set of custom rims (over $3000 total) and was treated like crap. I went to another shop, and even though it cost more, the service was friendly, professional, and I felt that my business was valued. They had my car back to me the same day. On top of all that, when I had my spring tire changeover done at American Tire, I asked them to check my brakes, which they have always done in the past. They said the brakes were fine. They lied -- I don't think they even checked them. It was June so it's not as though they were overly busy. My rear brakes were nearly gone and I was driving a death trap. Thanks for nothing, American Tire. I will NEVER do business there again. read more
