We could not walk by a fudge company and not go in.... the clear cases of fudge and hand chocolates were quite the sight! The store was bright and clean. And, there was such a big selection of fudge that it took us a while to make our choices. Good thing the staff were patient with us. Prices were reasonable and the fudge names were cute: Motherlode Maple, Klondike Pecan, Juneau White Out, Glacier Bay Walnut, and so forth. We bought a slice of Glacier Bay Walnut (chocolate fudge with walnuts) and Capitol City Caramel (chocolate fudge with caramel and sea salt). The Alaskan Fudge Company is definitely worth a stop, especially if you have a sweet tooth. The truffles were just okay in my opinion, nothing bad, but they didn't really stand out compared to other places I've tried. The fudge, on the other hand, was amazing. I got the one with marshmallow, and it was super soft and chewy, exactly how I like it. I also tried the peanut butter fudge, and that one was just perfect--rich, smooth, and full of flavor. I ended up getting about 2x 1/2 pounds, and it cost around $14, which felt like a pretty good deal for the quality. This was on my list to visit and we are so glad we did! First there are two locations. Easy walk from the cruise port. When you walk in, it smells amazing. The fudge is handmade on-site. When we arrived I spoke to an attendant who recommended to us the salted caramel, chocolate peanut butter. My daughter also picked out cookies and cream. The place is small and intimate. For 3 large 1 pound slices in a box it was about $37. My son however, could not leave without a giant chocolate chip cookie he absolutely refused to share. Super tasty, great treat to take home or share while on the cruise. And yes you can take it back to the ship. I would recommend adding this location to your list! read more

When I am in town we always stop in for the great sweets they have at the Alaskan Fudge Company. They have great fudge but also all kinds of sweets. It smells so good when you walk in. We were greeted right away even though they were busy. We love all kinds of chocolate and so typically try to get something with dark, milk and white chocolate. Just got back from our 7 day Alaskan cruise. Juneau was our first stop and we came across this place. Not knowing anything my wife and I ordered the dark chocolate and almond paws and peanuts and it was the best we've ever ate and we tried chocolate from all over the world by far this was the best chocolate almond and peanut clusters. We also got a pound of their fudge. so fire lol they are family owned and make everything in house fresh. The 1lb assorted chocolate was around $28 USD. After converting it to CAD, it was quite expensive. The chocolate was nice and soft and you can tell that it was made very recent. Alaskan Fudge Company was made for tourists. The assorted 1lb box had three kinds of chocolate (dark, white and milk). Inside the box there were almond chocolate, turtles, raisin and coconut. The store is located very close to the cruise port and it was very busy when I went. People were buying chocolate and fudge from left and right. It didn't seem like there is any line but people just got served. Overall, if I were to go to Alaska again, I would get more of their chocolate. read more

You can smell the popcorn from outside and it's so good. I got the most adorable chocolate shaped animal lollipops. Including an otter, killer whale, wolf, and I forgot the fourth one. I went here with the intention with getting gifts but we ended up getting treats for ourselves too. I got one cookies and cream truffle for myself and one piece was more than enough. It was a large $2 truffle ball that was very sweet but satisfying. I also got their Red Fox nut covered chocolate cluster treat which was also good. For gifts we got some cool chocolate teeth treats that look like dentures for our dentist friends. We also grabbed some chocolate bars and a bag of sugar-free taffy for my diabetic dad as well. Everyone liked their gifts. The shop also offers peanut butter brittle and caramel corn that they make in-house. I want to come back and try their ice cream. After numerous trips to Alaska, we tend to avoid the endless jewelry stores and head straight to this shop. Alaskan fish is nice but there is nothing like the creamy chocolate goodness these folks put out. We're always up for checking out the latest flavor and appreciate the careful wrapping (and the knife!). We asked the employees what were their most popular items and they stated the top two rows of fudge, any of the clusters and truffles. We ended up trying 2 types of fudge- a milk chocolate base with caramel and the glacier bay with the vanilla and walnuts. The kids opted for the cluster pieces of dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate covered walnuts or macadamia nuts. And I indulged in a couple of truffles- dark chocolate and fruit flavors like raspberry and orange are my favorite combinations. From the window you can see a chocolatier mixing a batch of luscious fudge. The inside of the shop was simple, with displays of chocolate and some options of sugar free treats. We happened to note that they also sold affordable ice cream with the basic flavors of vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. I loved this place. I bought the 3 for 30 box- and got chocolate pecan, chocolate walnut and chocolate mint. All were great (and gone, by the end of the cruise.) I am definitely going back to get more in June when I go back to Juneau. I think they also have a shop in Skagway- I know they have another somewhere. They have tons of different flavors and I love that it is owned by people who were born in and live in Alaska.
