We stopped at this coffee shop to write out some postcards and warm up after wandering around downtown Juneau, which was our first cruise port for our Alaskan voyage. I had an iced matcha latte. The cashier let me know that it comes unsweetened and offered to add in my choice of sweetener. I thought that was a nice touch, as I order matchas all the time and have never been told this at other shops. Despite a small exterior, this shop has ample seating inside, in addition to the offering of free (fast) wifi for those of us with phones that are confused by the geographical change. In addition to a wide variety of beverages, Heritage Coffee also has hot food options and an assortment of gelato available. It seems like a pretty busy meeting and working place for locals and visitors alike. I really enjoyed our time here! read more

Stopped by because caffeine was needed and I'm a sucker for cute coffee spots. It was a good amount of space and I just felt the need to read a book or people watch. There wasn't a long wait and the employees were able to assist us when we walked in. They were friendly and helpful with the questions I had. I just ordered a simple doppio with heavy cream because I wasn't craving any sugar at the moment haha I gotta say their espresso was strong and it definitely helped me stay energized throughout the day we were there. This unique coffee shop sits in the heart of downtown. If you're staying at a nearby hotel or are in port with a cruise ship, I highly recommend checking this place out. Heritage coffee has been around for 50 years. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary. Coffee is good and the overall setup is nice. Heritage Coffee offers a nice rustic Alaskan ambiance as you walk inside and hang out to enjoy their food and coffee. Perfect place to grab a quick breakfast before starting your day. They offer breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burrito and assorted pastries. I believe I also saw a yogurt parfait in their cooler section where the cold drinks are. I had a sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich this morning with a blueberry lemon pastry. Both were good. I would order again. Their coffee is also good too. I've been to some places in other states where the coffee is below average or awful. Staff is friendly too. This morning I chatted it up with a few of their staff members. Both are young ladies who were personable and friendly. There is also plenty of dining and seating here. I'm impressed with the number of tables and chairs to sit at. Loved the window seating with gorgeous views of the mountains that hug the downtown area. I will return here again before departing Juneau! read more

Two times in the last 30 days I had a bad experience with the cash register automatically adding a specific percentage tip to my card. The first time I caught it, on a $40.00 tee shirt purchase. The second time it got by me, since I usually add my tip in cash instead, I tipped them $13 extra for a $60 coffee card, plus using my points, paying for the coffee drink, and tipping them $3.00 on purpose. I saw it on my receipt before leaving but did not want to miss a bus. They did say they would void the entire transaction and do it over again but I let it go. This practice is not the employees' fault, but it SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. The ladies taking the orders were super nice and friendly and helped me pick out my coffee! They had non dairy options for milk which I was super grateful for! this is a large cafe (chain) with many options in downtown juneau! there's plenty of seating and a little gift shop in the corner. there's also a hot food case and some gelato if you're craving dessert! bf and i got heritage coffee many times when we stayed in juneau for a week. again, this might be a chain because there's so many locations. they get busy with a lot of tourists, but you don't wait very long for your drinks. it's pretty quiet in the store even though it's big, and i noticed that they offer free dog treats, which i think is so sweet. i would get the hot mocha and iced white mochas, which were delicious! bf would get their pour overs and an iced cold brew, which he enjoyed. their hot drinks get a little cute sticker on top, which i really enjoyed and was happy to see (they have lil shapes and drawings on them! sadly they're a type of ink that smudges a lot when you rub them, but i love little touches to a cafe experience). we didn't try the food or gelato, but the coffee was great that we came back again and again. read more

There was no greeting, my coffee order was wrong, the breakfast sandwiches were empty and when I asked about them - had to settle on a cold rock hard scone, and 20 seconds later the sandwiches were moved to the case, just as I concluded my sale. A short African American girl finally sauntered over and said "what do you need". I asked her how her day was, she outright ignored me and repeated "what do you need". Her contempt was obvious and on full display. I've encountered this before in tourist towns where there's an endless supply of paying customers and you can get away with shitty service and attitude. Her whole demeanor sucked. She clearly felt our presence was somehow an inconvenience for her.The owners should emphasize the importance of treating customers well. It's not as if there's not several other cool little coffee spots within walking distance. Every bad review, every customer walking out (like we did) affects your margins. You treat enough customers badly enough times? I don't care if you're a total tourist trap, people read reviews and it will affect your net margins over time. Room for opportunity: The actual food and wait time. There is a a sign that says food can take 10 mins to an hour because it's made fresh. But it's not worth the wait. We got the breakfast burrito and the potato bowl. The bowl was a plate of super greasy tater tots with veggies drenched in oil. We waited about 30 mins for the food and mine actually came out room temperature and not in a bowl (minor point). :/ you can see in the picture what it looked like. Burrito was decent. The staff were frantic and made me feel rushed and not valued. The smoothie was a mix out of a box and tasted like blended ice with a hint of strawberry. The muffin had great flavor but was dense and dry. The avocado toast was so sad! Such a thin smear of avocado and thinly sliced mealy tomatoes. The burrito was alright but the dressing was watery and too tangy. Not the best breakfast option but can satisfy a fix in a pinch. read more

I never understand why some places I try have bad reviews! This place was great! They have a great coffee menu, we ended up getting their October Seasonal which had some berry flavor, and WOW it was so good! I'll probably try and make that at home! They had a really great food menu too with breakfast options and tons of sandwich options that ALL looked great. The only complaint was pricing on the food was pretty expensive, but then again, it's in Alaska. Service was pretty quick, they were patient with us, got our order in, and we had coffee pretty quick. This place hit the spot for my early morning caffeine fix on my trip to Alaska, and despite being outside of the continental states, it was still cheaper than my cruise ship's coffee shop. Wow! The coffee here at Heritage and coffee in Juneau in general is bold and gives you a real caffeine jolt for you to on your way! Kind of puts Seattle coffee to shame in that regard. We went to this location several times but I believe they have more than one location in Juneau. I usually got a Vanilla Latte which took the brunt of the strong flavor off considerably and they were good! Steve got the drip and even with coffee creamer and sugar it packed quite a punch! I'm kind of grateful that they have coffee like this here. Juneau is in a temperate rainforest and drizzle and gray are normal during certain parts of the year and both of these drinks definitely warmed you up before heading outside! We also had pastries and some of their breakfast menu items which were very good... like the breakfast burrito. Definitely worth going to to sample the local coffee scene and to get a rise that will last a good portion of the day! read more

Out popped 2 counter staff from somewhere. Who knows how many came before me and left empty handed because there was no one to take their order. The coffee here was good; I enjoyed it thoroughly. What I did not enjoy were the glares from the barista for having to fix my drink orders when they were incomplete. For example, I ordered an iced latte with whipped cream. The barista handed me an iced latte, and just said that they're out of whipped cream. So I asked how long it would be to whip up a batch, and said that I was okay waiting for it. Her response was that it would take additional time now because she had other drinks to make...the drinks for the orders AFTER mine. Other mistakes in my order include a coffee with cream, made without the cream, and completely missing another iced latte. Mistakes happen, that's not a problem. The problem was the barista's demeanor when having to fix the things she missed. I don't need to be treated like royalty when ordering coffee, but I would prefer an experience without the attitude. read more

The service folks are rather grouchy and the kitchen staff seems more interested in doing dance moves and BSing than preparing food. We were given an order number but items came out one by one with no reference to the order number, just a muffled referenced to what it was. After 30 minutes I ask the lady if she could check on the main part of our breakfast that had yet to come out of the kitchen. She gave a half hearted "sure" and went about other things.
