I've been going to Albee's since the week I moved here three years ago. The food is simple and unassuming, exactly what I want when I'm craving good Mediterranean food. I've never had any mistakes or a bad experience in general with this place. The food itself is really solid. I usually get the medi fries with extra meat and pita and that really hits the spot. Half the time I have leftovers for the next day, making the low cost even more worth it. The meat is well-cooked and isn't too salty or tough. The restaurant itself is small with limited seating, so I always order to-go and eat at home. There is a decent sized parking lot that is shared with the corner store next door. The people working are friendly and get right to work once an order is placed. I haven't used the bathrooms so not sure what their state is, but if they're anything like the rest of the place they're probably pretty average. They clean daily, but it could use a good deep clean. I've always been pleased with the food here and will keep coming back unless that ever changes. read more

Yum. Not sure why it took me so long to try this place! I checked their health score online and it was 100! Small but clean, efficient, and friendly location. I ordered a falafel salad and garlic fries. The fries were the bomb! Crispy, hot, and flavorful- they didn't make it home in my to go order. The salad was really good and fresh with plenty of tzatziki for all components. I'm not super experienced with falafel so unsure how it compares with others, but I thought it was really good. The Spanakopita was limp and not crispy with boring insipid watery tzatziki and the Gyro salad was completely subpar with only iceberg lettuce, a few Kalamata olives, very few cherry tomatoes, a few slices of onion, more boring watery tzatziki and NO Greek oregano salad dressing and extremely extra salty Gyro on top... all in all very poor quality I shall NOT return!! read more

This was an online order, so I cannot say anything about the ambience or the service. But I liked the falafel gyro. If you like chickpeas, you'll like this sandwich! It's nice that Eugene and Springfield has such a variety of eats! The only request I would make is that I wish they had a chicken option for gyros. I know that beef/lamb are more traditional, but a chicken gyro would likely be very good! It would add another choice and be compatible with the flavor of gyros! Still, very yummy falafel! I love this small business that offers up BIG tasty gyros! The last gyro I had from here was absolutely delicious and stuffed with lamb. Yum yum I highly recommend this establishment. The service is always super pleasant. My friend Margaret absolutely loves the baklava! So do I. Amazing staff and amazing gyros. the place is quaint and actually reminds me of a new york stop in. eugene is quite lacking in iconic local restaurants but there are a few, this being one of those. Even though there's always people waiting for food, it always comes out fast and fresh and their meals are authentic. definitely a local treasure and again love the staff there. oh and no matter what you order, be sure to add their garlic fries as a side, as they're the best fries in town. read more

Surprisingly, I have never gotten food here before. I was starving and it was quick and good. They have a few tables outside so we sat there. Got the gyro pita sandwich and an Americana honey cream soda. Nice selection of interesting sodas! The guys working behind the counter were super friendly and greeted us when we came it. Had a recent bad experience. 3 Gyros 28 bucks plus a 15% tip. Got home and found that they were half the size we normally get. Had little meat and the sauce was sparse- On all three. The pita bread was thick and dried out the meat cold. Won't be back to the 11st shop and stick with the one one 18th street. They have done an awesome job every time. read more

Falafel was tasty. Everything else was sub par. If your looking for Mediterranean food, your not going to get it here. If you want a tasty pita on the go..pretty good. Definitely overly priced though. Missing babagonoush, and tabouli for sure! Those are staples for me. Probably won't go back, because that's what I want with my falafel. After seeing all the good reviews I went to the second location. Although it is a bit out of the way to get too, I was nearby so I drove over. I went in and thought they offered a chicken gyro, but only had a lamb beef combination. Since I can't eat the moo cow because of personal reasons. I only had the choice of a falafal gyro. Those are not to my liking. After biting into them they taste like dough balls. Not that I tried them here, but majority of falafals have that texture. Of course I just didn't wanna leave after making an effort to go there, so I settled for the garlic fries. While the fries were being make I had a great conversation with the owner. The fries were finally done and the looked gorgeous. The smell of garlic made me happy. I love the smell of garlic, if they made a garlic cologne, I would definitely wear it. I grabbed a handful of ketchup and went to town on the fries. They were crispy on the outside and moist inside. They toss the fries with the garlic, so every fry had either pieces of garlic or oil infused with it. I was going to give this place 4 stars because they didn't offer chicken, but Albee explained his reasoning why he doesn't and it made business sense, so it wasn't his fault. So I based the review on just the fries and they are some of the best garlic fries I have had! read more

There's a reason this place has great reviews! After a day at the lake, my boyfriend and I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try because of all the amazing reviews. We're glad we did. We both love good falafels but always have a hard time finding a place that doesn't dry them out and try to cover it up with tzatziki but this place knows what's up. Perfect falafels with great homemade tzatziki to compliment it. Their garlic fries are really good too but I noticed it needed a little salt which wasn't a big deal, I just asked for some. Kombucha on tap makes me like them even more and some flaky sweet baklava goes hand in hand with a great meal. We were greeted by the owner when we arrived had a great conversation with him and another employee. He even had us sample some of the meat they put in their gyros which was juicy and well seasoned. We have found our go to gyro place and can't wait to try the rest of the menu. And if you're thinking about passing on the baklava...DON'T. Just don't. read more

This is a hole in the wall located in a strip mall that lends a hand to visitors who want to get in and out as quick as they would traditional fast food, but with better tasting options and friendly service. You can't beat the value and the flavor doesn't disappoint either. However, options are limited. The gyros center around a beef/lamb mixed meat that packs a pile of flavor, in tender and should be tops on the list of any newcomer. A few points: *Pita bread is bagged and not made on site *There's no fountain drinks or tea, but canned soda and bottled specialty sodas *The hummus is average *If you have a kid - the hot dog is darn good, not a cheap side item like you might expect *The garlic fries seem to be popular, but we didn't try them *The menu is limited. read more

A bit of a late review: What a pleasant little surprise within bright-blue walls (new place is nice to boot though). I happened upon here for the simple craving of a hotdog for a late lunch. Where I was, there was only one option: Albee's. The counter was manned by the apparent owner and was beyond delightful in helping narrow down the rather big menu of Mediterranean focused goods; including the titular gyros within. And what a particular-yet-simple menu too. You got your gyro or hot dog or falafel, then you get to pick (or more so pile) your toppings. There are garlic fries and spanakopita as well, so plenty to pick from. It's a great hunk of food for the price with the nonexistent limit on toppings only increasing the size of it. My most recent endeavor included a sauerkraut and bacon and jalapeño peppers topped hot dog with a slight spread of mayo. Sauerkraut and peppers were tart 'n' crunchy, the bacon sprinkled all over the top, and the hot dog juicy and with a slight crisp in the skin. The bun was slightly sweet and not dripping in mayo. The gyros are wonderfully cooked (get the hummus side too) and have never tasted overdone or dry. It's a simple menu, but they've got it nailed down to say the very least. It's a fun place with a fantastic atmosphere and food to match. It can get dangerous when hungry not to order two or three since the price is just a steal, but it'd be worth it. read more

My favourite is the gyro, I order the jr. Size...$2 cheaper, and perfect size for lunch. The only change I would make would be to ask for the pita bread to be warmed as well :-) The guys working on my most recent visit were super friendly, although the location is a bit random, the atmosphere within the shop is welcoming. My last three gyros have been Jr size on the insides. The pita is not warm and pliable, it's cracks and makes a mess and just tastes stale.
