Wow.... awesome Gyro, loaded with meat and veggies! Tasty tatziki sauce too! Pita was soft and yummy! Price was great too, compared to other places! The young man behind the counter was friendly, and very helpful. I have tried gyros in two other restaurants in Eugene, and was not impressed... I will only come to Albee's now. Better than expected place for gyros and other Mediterranean food in Eugene. It basically is a place for takeout, but outside there's a few tables. Albee's has a couple locations, including this one west of downtown. Looks pretty basic and it is. They have the classic favorite including the standard gyros, and falafel among the other pitas. A pretty quiet location compared to the stuff going on downtown. It's in more of a residential area it seems. The majority of the customers are probably in the neighborhood around this. Has the basics. It's about $7 for the Falafel Pita. Each of us got one. This comes with banana peppers, black olives, feta which I left off, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. Good place with more than only gyros. It's located on 11th Avenue at Lawrence. The falafel is one option for vegetarians. read more

Garlic fries: yes. Gyros: maybe. Unfortunately the gyro meat was dry but I did think the fries were the perfect level of crispy and seasoned. It's just unfortunate when a gyro is a simple meal and the only star is the meat, when the meat isn't good, it lets the whole thing down. The other ingredients truly are difficult to mess up, and I will say the fresh components of this gyro were nice. It's relatively unclean inside and has flies everywhere. I hate to give it the rating I do just because the guy was so kind and clearly loves his job. We felt that love too. And the fries were great! I hope they can revamp these couple things to make sure they get a returning customer in the future. As it stands, I don't think I will be back. read more

A little hole in the wall place that offers a straight forward gyro. The type of gyro you want at 2am after the bars, the best kind. The staff was super friendly and place is clean if you car about that, and the food came out fast. The gyro meat was well seasoned and hot, much like you find at any other gyro place. The pita was hot and sauce was tangy and garlicky which complimented the gyro. For $12 I would be back for sure. read more

Got takeout from Albees for dinner. Called it in and was told 15 minutes. I got there about 15 minutes later, and he was just finishing up my order - love when that happens. It was fresh and smelled amazing. We both got the Beef Gyro and shared an order of Empire State Fries. Both were so good. The beef was perfectly marinated, and the tzatziki was spot on. The seasoned fries were covered in garlic and feta and perfect when dipped in the cool tzatziki. The location isn't the greatest - takeout is probably the best bet. It is more of a deli style establishment than a place to dine. There is a small outdoor seating area and no real indoor seating. There is no dedicated parking, so you need to find a spot on the street. The guy working was very nice. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area. read more

This place strikes me more as a grab and go for amazing Gyros! I go here regularly to get my Gyro fix. Although there is seating, I usually just 'order to go' because they are prompt, good prices, and truly have some of the most delicious Gyros in town. read more

My son and I both ordered a gyro with all toppings (I ordered the junior size, my son the regular size). We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was! To be honest, I was a bit turned off by the way how the store front looked from the outside, a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. The young male employee who helped us was very friendly and helpful. What impressed me the most was that, after taking our payment, he washed his hands again before preparing the food (although he had already washed his hands when we entered the restaurant). This is absolutely the greatest Mediterranean spot I've found in Eugene and one of the greatest food spots in general down here. Came on an early Sunday afternoon and there was only man working but he was a ONE MAN SHOW. He got it done I wish I asked for his name, unfortunately I did not. I'm going to name him Angel because he is my Angel for serving me a delicious meal. Will absolutely be coming back I felt like I was back in NYC. I ordered the Gyro Salad and the meat to salad proportion was the greatest of any place I've ever been served, and for only $11.50 it was the greatest deal of my life! Also the seasoned fries were excellent, though I'd recommend the garlic as it's the same price for more flavor!!! read more

Just okay...the fries had a fun seasoning on them but were super greasy and seemed flash frozen. The gyro was alright, the meat was fine, but the ingredients themselves didn't taste very fresh. Is this the best place in Eugene for gyros? Probably. Is it great? Meh. I put Papa Cristo's as my gyro benchmark, and Albee's isn't there. Good, solid Greek fare in the American Greek tradition. The falafel and the Greek salad were excellent. The dolmas were good, but not great (maybe more olive oil would help). The white yogurt sauce was truly authentic. They do not have tabouleh. The guy who waited on me was friendly and efficient and we had a nice conversation while he prepared my food. There was no tea option, and all the other drinks except water were more sugary than anything I would put in body. Nice outdoor seating by the sidewalk. Limited indoor seating at a high counter. I would go back for the falafel and salad. read more

Came here with the fam for a quick bite to eat. I opted for the hot dog , the guy working there said it's the best! Added mustard, dill relish, jalapeños, and bacon bits. Hot dog is fried with a toasted bun. What turned me off was the bacon bits.. I didn't realize these bits are NOT actually bacon. What would have made it a step above would be actual pieces of bacon. These fake bits cheapened my hot dog experience. The rest of my fam had a gyro and something called gillies, which is gyro but with cheese wiz..yes you heard me cheese wiz! Fam said it was ok. I was born in NY and Albees's is legit-NYC take out. It's like a great store/front place in Astoria, Queens. Great gyro, nice salads, seriously top notch spanakopita, excellent lamb, excelkent feta, even great hot dogs, all served with a snappy, unusually polite frontman. I like everything they have, except maybe the dolmas, but I never like those grape leaf m*therfx€¥ers, not even when I lived in Athens thirty years ago. Albees is seriously good and foodies tend to avoid if because it looks pretty 'hood, so it's a great, kind of a private, west-Eugene favorite. read more

Tried their gyro pita and falafel pita. Both were fresh and delicious. Falafel had the right amount of spices and it was perfectly cooked. I can totally see them making a falafel burger that would taste amazing (wishful thinking). Place was on the small side, but they had great service! I'll definitely be returning. read more

WOW!! I have been looking for a place to get spanakopeda. I have now found it *yeah* This place is a small neighborhood deli type restaurant. Only a couple seats inside on a bar facing the street or a couple tables outside. The was one person inside and what a jewel he was! Even though he was really busy with take out orders he took it like a champ. Always smiling, friendly and able to joke around as well as never stopping. Totally enjoyed my experience and the spanakopeda was delish!!..So excited I found this little place. Awesome read more

Just finished eating the best Gyro sandwhich & Garlic fries! Was trying to find something good & quick after leaving my client's home after work. I pulled up places in Yelp that0 were nearby. When I walked in, was greeted by Eric. He was friendly, funny and he quickly prepared my meal to go. He clearly loves what he does and it shows! I highly recommend this place! The Musakhan Rolls said they come with a garlic sauce. The sauce was excellent, but tasted more like a tart yogurt/sour cream sauce to us. Not a strong garlic flavor. The lamb in the hummus was also very good, but kind of bland. We love lamb when it is prepared well (we usually only order from a Middle Eastern restaurant) and this was prepared perfectly. We just felt it could stand a little more flavor or spice. However, the hummus. Oh. My. Word. The hummus. All of those off-the-chart reviews were spot on. The hummus had to be the best hummus we have ever had in our lives. And we eat a variety of foods from a variety of places. It was the perfect amount of garlic and so creamy, we actually used our fingers to wipe the bowl and get that last remaining bits of the hummus. Our service was excellent. It is family-owned and our server was very pleasant and hospitable. The inside is decorated in what appears to be Syrian decor and is nicely done. Now we have to connect with our friends and go back sometime soon for dinner. Yumm!

The beef was slightly drier than I prefer but it was still quite tasty. The niece said the lamp gyro pita wrap was the best lamb she's had. I don't know what her lamb experience has been but it's a great compliment I think. After placing my order it only took 14 minutes to get my food. It was securely packaged and still warm upon getting home. The sauce is peppery goodness. Must have it on everything! Great experience. Will go again!

The salad was really good and fresh with plenty of tzatziki for all components. I'm not super experienced with falafel so unsure how it compares with others, but I thought it was really good. Their food is well seasoned and a "healthier" option than some heavier offerings in Eugene, which was perfect for a pre-Eugene Marathon carb load. The plaza has ample seating and a relaxed vibe.
