We had been trying to get a reservation here for awhile and were finally able to. I know why it was hard to get into now. The bread with the dipping sauce was very good. The steamer clams were so good we had to get more bread to sop up the sauce that was left. Their wine selection is not extensive but what they do offer is very good. The wife ordered the salmon and just loved it. I had the lasagna and was very impressed with it. We will definitely be back. read more

I returned to Cioppino House this summer; I plan on visiting every summer during my trips to Oregon. The owner, Summer, and server, Jada, were personable as always. I had the beef tenderloin. The cut had no fat on it and was one of the better steaks I've had. I also had a side of scallops; they were prepared in a sauce and topped with nuts or something. The black rice was tasty. They were delicious. I like the way Summer and her servers pay attention to details, such as not holding your glass at the top while pouring liquids. The prices were reasonable. Very quiet and quaint family operated restaurant. The waitress is the owner and su-chef. Her husband is the chef. Good food and you can tell it's home made. I ate the Prawn Marsala. It had garlic and Marsala on the prawns with black rice on the side. Very entertaining dish and did the job. Now to reason I gave this five stars instead of four. They went out of their way to accommodate my kids with handmade pasta with butter and cheese. We've been to restaurants here and there and they flat out tell us no. Not here though. They not only did it, they came out and asked if we needed more and how it tastes. Little to say they caught mom and dad eating it, that's how good it was. We've been coming to Cioppino house since 2017. Always loved it! Our favorite special restaurant for special celebrations- birthdays, Father's Day, anniversaries and romantic nights out! Unfortunately, for the past year since Bonnie and Jack have gone- we have been repeatedly disappointed. They are always out of scallops (my favorite dish here), the bread is not as good, the wonderful olive oil, basil, peppers, roasted tomato dip ( that Bonnie created for bread- is now quite bitter. I'm so sorry to see my favorite restaurant decline. I have recommended Cioppino house to so many people over the years- I can't anymore. I guess I'll have to look for some place else. read more

Reading such extremes on the reviews, I was hoping I would be one of the good ones. Well, I am. We had a very nice dinner there, great service, great ribeye and salmon. The homemade bread and dipping sauce were excellent. The ribeye was cooked perfectly as was the salmon. The only "bad" thing was, I called to make reservations for 2 but the message on the phone said only parties of 6 or more could get reservations. We took a chance and drove out there and they fit us in before another reservation. They should allow any party to reserve a table, some people don't want to wait or get turned away. It would also be nice to have a full bar but not a deal-breaker. We will be back, it was a great evening. read more

We recently visited Cioppino House for the first time for my birthday. We loved the ambience, the decorating, the spacing of the tables, all first rate for us. The service was also quite good. The woman who greeted us was knowledgeable about the wine list and made us feel very welcome. Our server was also poised and polite despite being too young to serve alcohol. However, after our food was delivered we had to track somebody down to get some parmesan and red peppers. Where we felt a bit disappointed was the food, frankly. We split a Caesar salad- the dressing was on the sweet side, and I was unable to detect any garlic or parmesan, to ingredients that I normally think of on a Caesar salad. Not bad, but very different from my past experience. I ordered the lasagna, and to be honest, it was not good. It was overloaded with mozzarella were it took real time to chew, and there was surprisingly little pasta in it to go with the sausage. I have to say that if you're in the mood for lasagna, I'd go somewhere else. My wife's seafood pasta was good and she was generally pleased with it but felt it was a bit overloaded with sundried tomatoes. Wine, by my estimate, was a 3X markup, pretty typical these days. But $130 for dinner for two is a significant amount of money for us so we had hoped to be celebrating the food a lot more than we are. We loved the place and the people so we will definitely give it another try. read more

We had an excellent dinner here on Aug 23rd. @ had Scallops best ever, One had pasta Primavera sea food and I had linguini and clams and roasted beat salad. All great. Our server was great. We had high hopes for this cute little Italian cafe in Pleasant Hill. I will say the bread is wonderful - warm, slightly crusty and served with butter and also tasty olive oil. However, that was the highlight of our dinner. The off-menu special of the night was spaghetti bolognese. It arrived with linguini noodles which the server first confirmed were spaghetti pasta then, after examining them, reversed course and announced they were out of spaghetti. In any case, it was far too salty to eat (and I like salt). She was very gracious and sent out some fairly gamey but otherwise tasty and well cooked lamb chops. Other tables seemed to be having mostly ribeye which may be the best option here. My dining companion tried the linguini with clams, since this is a seafood joint. It was similarly inedible. The tiny clams stunk to high heaven and the noodles were pretty much just plain. He had to eat some of my lamb chops. Dessert was a decent chocolate mousse. Service was very friendly and attentive. About $90 for two including tip. read more

I'm a Puerto Rican woman in a majority white area and I'm very upset they said they were full with TWO PPL INSIDE. very disappointed and I do not recommend this restaurant. This is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. Sometimes I wonder if it might be worth the drive or the ride simply to have a meal there. The food is sumptuous. The service is amazing. It is sometimes hard to get a table so make a reservation. Even the 1st come free-seat bar can get crowded. This is a small place, by intention, I think. No wine by the glass; delicious, 1/2 beet salad served on a plate so small made it difficult to eat; tenderloin ordered medium rare with a stick in the middle ( server didn't tell me about) flavor of tenderloin to die for! asparagus was raw, beyond crunchy; No cteme Brulee; ordered chocolate mouse; so much aerated whipping cream you couldn't find the small dab of mouse. read more

Dropped in for dinner last night and was blessed with a canceled reservation. I started with a very nice Greek salad and My wife had the Cesar salad. Dinner was great I had the ribeye and the wife had the Mediterranean seafood pasta. Steak was huge and was tender with great taste. Seafood was wonderful as well. Brie was a fantastic host and server. Topped off with nice classic creme brulee shared for dessert. We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary had a very special evening. This place never disappoints and the hardest thing is deciding WHICH item from the menu to choose! Yes, it's that hard! I have had the steaks, seafood, you name it and all amazing flavor prepared by a great chef and staff. Their desserts are prepared in house and have zero calories.....NOT! I recommend the Creme Brûlée or for a real surprise, the Carrot Cake. Wowser! I recommend making reservations as it is not a large restaurant but has a very intimate feel to it. read more

A nice surprise in a strip mall area that I anticipated wouldn't offer much in terms of quality eating. The service was so delightful and welcoming. The crowd was predominantly local retirees who seemed like they're regulars. Your palette is greeted by warm bread and a homemade tapenade, it's difficult not to get over sated. The Caesar with homemade dressing and four ample-sized prawns definitely satisfied my craving for a light entree. Our favorite cioppino in the world is at Sharks Seafood Bar and Steamer in Newport, OR, and while the version here didn't live up to that high expectation, it was good in its own right. Be sure to use some of that bread to mop the delicious sauce. The very pleasant owner provided a complimentary mousse with Grand Marnier for a birthday. The Ciopinno offers a warm and inviting atmosphere and is a great way to start your road adventure through the McKenzie Pass. read more

The lamb chops could've used more seasoning but was tender, cut thick and done perfectly. One of the owners doubles as a wait staff and prepares the excellent accompanying sauces her self.
