I was at this place earlier today when I saw a employee who I found out to be named ken was shouting and cursing at a young Hispanic girl who was picking up a order I heard the girl tell the employee he needs to change his attitude then I heard the guy say what did you say? Aggressively to the young girl numerous times at this point the girl told him he needs to change his attitude again then he was yelling back fu** you and don't ever come back here again meanwhile following her around aggressively and shouting other incoherent things from my perspective it's pretty lousy customer service in front of the store and right on west 11th if a customer tells you to change your attitude you should not act like a enraged baboon and you should never aggressively follow a customer out of the store shouting obscenities. We just hit ten on the punch card (free is good!) so it's time for a re-review. ("Re-review" sounds odd, grammatical stuttering?) We keep coming back here and always enjoy our gyros, so upgrade to four stars. Quick, convenient cheap and always satisfies our gyro craving. Flavors are a little basic - meat (read: salt and lamb fat, yum!) mild tzatziki, lettuce, and a few onions. Wish sauce had bolder garlic, and olives were salty kalimatas instead of canned. Drove up in front and was hesitant of the restaurant but decided we would take a look at the menu inside. I opened the door and this heavenly waft of deliciousness came rushing out at me. Albee's is delicious. The gyros are awesome, the hot dogs are totally awesome, and you can get every single topping at no extra charge -- even on the "Jr. Dog," which is (as of this writing) only $2.50. But best of all, they NOW TAKE CREDIT CARDS. Cash-only was the SOLE factor that kept my husband & myself from picking up Albee's on our way home multiple times per week. Now that they are no longer cash-only, we've filled up one and a half punch cards in a couple of weeks, LOL. We love the dogs, but also, the only other game in town for gyros after traditional working hours seems to be Pita Pit, and that doesn't even compare. Plus, Albee is really cool & very nice. For the price it's a really great and fast place to stop and eat. I think they have the best gyros and good tzatziki in Eugene and the hotdogs aren't bad either! My boyfriend and i went to go pick up some food for takeout at a different restaurant, and on the way back home opted to stop at Eazy A for a couple of sodas (it was 103 degrees out) only to find that Eazy A was closed and that Albees next door was open, with a phat display case of sodas shining through the window-- so we went in. As we were deliberating amongst this vast and obscure soda collection, we were greeted by Eric (Erik?) who was seriously great! He had all this random soda knowledge. He had soda facts. He had soda suggestions. He had it all. Eric was super awesome and genuinely very nice. He asked us about what food we'd picked up and we chatted about other random stuff. I moved to Eugene from Florida about a year ago. I hadn't found a great Mediterranean place until now. The two guys working were lovely. They chatted with me while I waited for my food. I really enjoyed the Gyro, I was getting on a train got one to go & it was "well" great! I find it refreshing that a real entrepenur is doing well in our so called economic times of woe. (He started from a hot dog cart on a street corner in bar central) So to all the freshmen class it's on your way to school it's great, loaded, sizeable & most importantly run by a pretty cool guy to boot. I found this place during a break from finals on a Monday night. I craved falafel and found it using google maps. The falafel I had was as good as any, and the guy working the counter hooked me up with free samples of the gyro meat, as well as a sample of their home made hummus. It's a one man operation so it can get bogged down when the place is busy but it's worth the wait.
