    "Special" Carbonara with scallops
    Lisa H.

Came here on a Friday night for a date with my husband. We did make a reservation about a week before. The inside seating is limited so I would recommend that. There is outdoor seating that is first come first serve. Great selection of various pasta dishes. We tried the Caprese salad and kale salad for our appetizers. I had the chicken piccata while my husband had the special carbonara that had scallops on it. ALL THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. You could tell that they make their pasta from scratch. If you're looking for a cute date night with elevated food, this is your place. Also they have a kids menu!

Exterior of the restaurant. Classy and modern.

This hidden gem was a good experience all around. Great food, service and a lively atmosphere. I would have never thought this out of the way place would be as it was. I will go there every time I am in Eugene, which isn't often. But I won't miss a chance to go again if I'm in town.

Joe, you've out done yourself! I've been wanting to try his amazing Italian pasta and it did not disappoint! The smoked salmon ravioli with that cream sauce was to die for and I had the chicken piccata but with shrimp! Yum! Oh and their homemade tiramisu- just wow!

I added some of the zesty focaccia marinara - see how clever I am??

We have a new date night place! Let me walk you through it dinner. You'll wanna pay attention - I am just that clever and insightful. :) - The server greeted us. She's friendly and genuine. Good start - Focaccia arrives with a very zesty marinara. Nice - The Caesar salad arrives. Decent is the word but lacking any tang from lemon or vinegar. - Hubby's strawberry drop is yummy and kind of stiff. - Pastas come. My Alfredo is very good. It's tan (not Olive Garden white) with flecks of herbal green. I wanna say maybe sage, but that doesn't sound right. - Hubby's carbonara is very, very good. It's traditionally made with guanciale and this might just be that. - I want to add that the ambiance here is warm and inviting. The simple wood tables make it look comfortable. The soft hanging lamps and fairy lights make things warm and romantic. Why has it been so long for us? We will definitely be back.

I decided to come here for my birthday as my husband and I were out in Eugene visiting family and I'm glad I did. The restaurant is a bit small so reservations are highly suggested beforehand. I got the special, spicy chicken Alfredo, and it was so good! It packed a ton of flavor and it wasn't too spicy. Our server was great and attentive! We did ask if they could keep a birthday cake in the freezer which they did and brought it out with utensils to cut and serve it too. Highly recommend this place!

The best Italian food me and my husband have ever had! 12/10 recommend checking it out if you haven't already!

    Cajun Shrimp Fettuccine

Omg, forgot how delightful fresh pasta tastes and will definitely put Placido's on my list for best Italian food! We enjoyed the Cajun Shrimp Fettuccine. Pasta was amazing and the sauce was flawless-not too heavy yet a sweet balance of spicy and flavorful. The chicken piccata was good along with the Caesar Salad. But my fave was the Cajun Shrimp. The place is small but intimate and the staff is highly attentive I strongly recommend reservations.

After being away from Placido's for too long a time we returned with friends to celebrate a special evening. And indeed it was a very special meal. This fine Italian restaurant only gets better and better. The great variety of excellent pasta dishes make it hard to choose a favorite. The ravioli was divine. The chicken piccata with linguine amazing. The salads fantastic. And the wine list and cocktails first rate. So happy we have rediscovered Placido's

Excellent! We stopped here for dinner on our way back to Portland. Thank god we don't live here, I would gain 500 pounds. We ordered 3 different dishes, all excellent in their own way. I had the vegan pasta, honestly you could not tell there was no egg in the pasta. Vegetables in the pasta cook to perfection. If you are in the mood for Italian, this is a must!'

I wish yelp did half stars, I would give this place 3.5 stars. Starting off we are not locals, if we were I would give this place another shot because the food was delicious! Place is small but cozy, we were sat right away on a Thursday night. Our server did mention they were very busier earlier in the evening. We started with the Caesar salad, it was fresh and perfectly dressed. However at the bottom of the dish, when I was almost done there was a hair on the bowl. I got the shrimp scampi which was so good! But the shrimp were very small, I was expecting large prawns. These looked (not tasted) like shrimp you get in the frozen food section. My son wanted spaghetti and meatballs but they were out, he got bolognese which he enjoyed. Food came out fast which was great as we were super hungry from traveling all day. Espresso martini was just alright. Service was friendly.

Very impressive food! Excellent homemade flavors, perfectly blended. Perfect service. We ate outside, it was very nice and relaxed. Quite busy inside, even on a weekday. Highly recommended!

First off we were greeted and sat by a young lady who was very welcoming. Small little place so call and make a reservation. Food was delicious. My wife and I shared a Caesar salad which was plenty for two. Also shared spaghetti bolognese made with homemade pasta which was amazing. We both had glasses of wine my wife a red blend and me a Sangiovese both delicious. The entire staff was very friendly and attentive. Try it you'll like it!

In honor of my 400th Yelp Review, I am giving Placido's Pasta Shop 5 stars for having the best pasta! Their pasta is handmade with care and tastes amazing, with wonderful taste, variety & texture. We came in a group. I had the pasta with pork which was good but the vegan pasta entree was the star, being the tastiest. This is the place to splurge on carbs and Placido's is worthy of a visit for any occasion. We came to celebrate our daughter's U of O graduation and our other daughter's engagement which she & our future son in law announced during this meal. The ambiance of both casual and elegant. They have a private parking lot and be sure to make a reservation at this popular spot.

Pasta Plus has the most amazing fresh pasta I've ever eaten. They make it all right here in Eugene, and you can buy it straight from them (fresh or vacuum packed) or at any Market of Choice in town. They apparently sell it up in Portland too, though I'm not sure where. The fresh pasta is about $4.50/pound if I recall correctly, and it's worth every cent. If you go straight to their downtown location you can buy the fettucine, spaghettini, etc fresh, by the pound, along with pasta sauces like pesto and mushroom cream. They have at least one special flavor each week as well, which includes herb, spinach, and I think a red pepper variety. They also make a beautiful sausage lasagna that's usually in stock in their freezer, as well as ravioli, if you'd like an easy meal to go. Show up on one of their production days (Mon and Wed) and you'll the pasta chefs in the back kneading, pressing and cutting the pasta! It came with green beans and pasta topped with a fresh, bright red sauce that really tied the dish together. Overall, it was a light, refreshing meal that was full of flavor. Considering it was halibut, I thought the value was excellent. My meal was $39, which felt very reasonably priced for the quality and portion. Both my self and my wife have spent extensive time in Italy and know Italian quarantine very well. So we were quite interested in trying this location based on many of the reviews a the menu. This is my verdict. I ordered the LASAGNA DELLA CASA, and the Tiramisu for the desert. First the lasagna, I read the Yelp reviews on this establishment prior to ordering. For the most part the reviews were good. I read two reviews that claimed that the sauce is canned. After tasting the sauce I can guarantee that those who are claiming that the sauce is canned clearly have a pallet that is fit for judging can dog or cat food. When it comes to real cuisine they have no clue of what they are talking about. I can guarantee the sauce is hand made. Even with it being take out I can tell you that. The lasagna was very good. The sauce was outstanding, the pasta was perfectly cooked and the Italian sausage is amazing. It has a perfectly balanced flavor with a wonderful flavor of fennel, not over powering yet its presences was very enjoyable. Overall for take out I was impressed. I will definitely be returning to this location to try this dish again in a dine in experience. Now for the Tiramisu. I have eaten this dessert in Italy at some very high end restaurants. As far as the Tiramisu at Beppe & Gianni's, it is on par with the best that I have eaten in some of the best Italian restaurants in and throughout Italy. And absolute symphony of wonderfulness. Let me remind you this was a take out order, that being said I am looking forward to returning to this location for the sit down experience. When I do that, I will take photographs of the cuisine and post them. It is not fair to an establishment to take pictures of takeout. When I went into the Restaurant to pick it up, I saw the plating and it was outstanding. The takeout box just doesn't do it justice. I highly recommend this location.
