    Caprese sandwich with ham

The caprese sandwich is amazing. My kids rave about the spaghetti. We've been here a few times now. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is nice and casual. Their chairs could be more comfortable at the tables and booths but that would be my only complaint.

Aberos is amazing. Food and service are the best Italian food in town. We really love the atmosphere and a good selection of wine.

Heard about this newer Italian restaurant recently in Wichita so decided to give it a try (the old…read moreNeighbors establishment). It wasn't extremely busy for a Friday night; only 2 servers on hand. A tad pricey for what little you get. The lasagna was a disappointment for me (paper thin noodles, mainly sauce and cheese, small portion), the meat ravioli was...ok. Not offered or provided: ice water, or a side salad (extra$). Thought that was odd. Homemade hard rolls and pesto were good. Our server was a tad "off" tonight. The ambience was not the usual experience we expected for a higher end Italian restaurant.

But now, there is a family-run Italian restaurant is housed in the space. Here is why you should go to Amore: Friendly service Good, family-made Italian food Reasonable prices, with a varied menu Here is what Amore could do to get better: Improve on their appetizers Parmesan on salads, not mozzarella And not much else Amore is a fine choice for Italian fare, and reminds me of the old Angelo's that has been around for decades. The dishes have a fresh taste, the baked pasta dishes are screaming hot, and they fill your bread basket if you wish. With a couple of glasses of wine, house salads, and two baked dishes, two of us dined for about $60 plus a tip, and the value is absolutely there. It's not a five-star spot - yet - but Amore can absolutely get there. Solid option for Twin Lakes/Benjamin Hills residents.

The format of the menu was unique as it was in newspaper form with the history on the front page, pilot quotes on the back and the menu in the middle. The food: The bread was fresh and delicious with the option of rye or a soft white. With our table of 8, orders ranged from Italian salad with grilled chicken added, Chicken Alfredo, Lasagne w/beef, Chicken Strips and Fries, Fried Shrimp, Pete's Delight, to the Savute's Supreme Piatto. All enjoyed their food and said they would return for sure. Items tasted homemade and didn't taste like your run of the mill items from chain restaurants or places that over charge. The tomato sauce was a nice sweet sauce that didn't leave a metallic taste.

I, for the life of me, do not understand why Savute's is so highly rated. I don't typically leave a…read morereview, especially a bad review, after a single experience, ESPECIALLY when it's a local or family run business. I firmly believe that all businesses, especially restaurants, deserve multiple chances, as every single person and business has "off days." However, after giving Savute's no fewer than 5 chances, I just can't do it anymore. The quality of food is low. They advertise "fresh food" and "it's like coming home for dinner." Is the food "fresh?" Well, the sauces taste like they come in frozen and are thawed daily, and the pasta doesn't taste fresh either...if it's made in house, which I would strongly question, I don't think it's made daily. The steaks taste like lower-quality cuts and they seem to struggle with achieving a proper temperature and sear, as on one trip my wife and I ordered the exact same meal, mid-rare, and our steaks were wildly different, mine being almost perfect and hers looking boiled...almost grey with little sear and very little pink. The salads remind me of the Pizza Hut salad bar that we all grew up with, with dirty tasting lettuce and bland mix-ins. Now, don't take this to mean that the food is horrible tasting, because it's perfectly edible, but the quality just doesn't justify the price (the prices listed here on Yelp are many years out of date); Think Fazoli's quality pasta/sauces at $15-20 per entree. The atmosphere at Savute's is very out of date. They pride themselves on being open since 1944, an impressive feat no doubt, but the restaurant appears as if it hasn't been touched since they moved to the current location in the 50's. Decor isn't something that I typically care too much about, but I don't like to eat somewhere that feels "dingy," and that's how Savute's feels. Not everything about Savute's is bad. The service has always been very good, with friendly, accommodating staff and the food makes it to your table in a reasonable amount of time, and you can tell that they staff have built strong relationships with people/families who have frequented the place over the years, and I think this is clearly reflected in their reviews. When you dine in, look around...the average customer age is probably 65, so I think they've done a good job gaining customer loyalty through relationship-building, because it's certainly not by offering the best Italian food in Wichita.

I jumped at the chance to go to my favorite restaurant. Got there early and was the first to be seated. Actually, we were the only ones there for quite a while. The server, an older lady that must have had too many cups of coffee for breakfast, talked continuously about how the salad maker hadn't come in yet, another server better be coming in or she was going to spill the beans about wrecking his dad's car, on and on it went until she finally took our order. She had to make the salads herself, we heard about that, as now others were being seated, and still just one server. I ordered my favorite, Sausage Manicotti, House Salad, one friend took Chicken Alfredo & House Salad, the other took Spaghetti, and a regular salad with blue cheese dressing. Of course, garlic bread for all (2 slices each.) Our server just about wore us out with chatter until we finally got our meals. My food was delicious, but you couldn't really enjoy it with this server now getting busy, is obviously stressed. She gave good service but clearly was needing help and who wouldn't with now a room full of hungry customers. Finishing up our meals, one friend had an appointment and left, so it's me and my friend talking and enjoying the conversation until, this very same server, while placing the food at another table, twisted around and asked us to please release the table. I looked at my friend as she was looking at me, did you hear what I heard? We were both shocked. I have NEVER been asked to relinquish a table at a restaurant before in my 71 years. We quickly gathered our take home boxes and hurriedly left the premises. As we were leaving, there was not one person waiting to be seated, nor was all the tables filled in the dining area that we had just been asked to leave. This ruined our dining experience or ambience if you want to call it that. I guess from reading other reviews, they are now asking after a certain amount of time to relinquish your table. Maybe they should put a small sign on each table stating the time limit. I know my friends will probably never go back, and this was a first time eating at Angelo's for one of them. Me.. I will return, but it's going to be a while before I do.

We arrived at 4:15 and ordered at 4:25. We went that early to avoid such a long wait. When the waitress brought our entrees at 5:30, we had to inform her we needed to carry out because the chairs are wood and too difficult to sit in any longer. it bothers me they have a sign that they prefer you to limit your use of the tables to 1.5 hours, but it took them 1 hour and 15 minutes to serve us. it was not near full when we were seated. Zuppa Tuscany was good, Mostaccioli with meat sauce was really good, their signature garlic bread, tasty.
