The salsa bar had a good variety to choose from, ranging from crazy hot to mild. There was also a pickled onion, jalapeno, and habanero condiment that was a nice addition to my burrito. My wife and I get a Friday dinner takeout from Armando' every week. And, we've been doing so for at least 10 years. It is "hands down" the best Mexican cuisine in our Vista area. In recent years we've been greeted by Nick and/or Gerardo. These guys provided the very best customer service. They would always recognize their customers and knew what they like. Recently, they have new people at the counter that very often get our order wrong because their English is lacking, even though they're super nice. The fact is, not everyone that buys food here speaks Spanish. They need to make an effort to have people at the counter are fluent in Spanish and English. When I walked in, I saw two men. One was cooking, the other was taking orders. It was my first time there. They didn't speak much, but were friendly with smiles. There were four salsas available. I took one of each kind for my husband to try. He said all of them were good. Two of them he really enjoyed. I'm very picky about food. Especially when it comes to enchilada sauce. Their sauce was really good. I will be back for more. The inside of the restaurant is very small. There are a few tables in there. We got our food to go. I've been coming to place for many years, but tonight they lost a costumer. I loved coming to this place for rolled tacos but when I got home they got my order completely wrong. When I went back and asked them to exchange my order for the right one they made a huge ordeal about it. Not only that but they overcharged me 30 dollars which they did not want to refund me back. They kept trying to argue with me even though I was very polite about the issue and said that I was in the wrong. We stopped by on a Saturday morning and you can definitely tell it's the place to get lunch as it slowly started to get full closer to 12pm. We ordered a menudo bowl which we thought was really good and had like a "home made" flavor to it. We also got a California burrito but asked for beans in place of sour cream. The burrito itself was huge! The girls at the front were kind and kept the line moving pretty quickly. We thought prices were fair for the amount of food you get and the quality taste. Fantastic flavor on both food and sauces with not overwhelming price! Cali burrito was just the right amount and balance of ingredients. I'm not normally a guac on a Cali burrito person but it worked well here. Food came out fast despite the surprising amount of patrons here on a Sat ~8ish PM (which bodes well to the establishment) and friendly service, even felt like a local everyone-knows-your-name-Cheers vibe, friendly and I think it was 5 or 6 workers behind the counter.. I ordered chilaquiles verde & potato tacos via DoorDash for breakfast. The chilaquiles were good, green sauce was good & spicy. You can't really mess up chilaquiles, it's super easy. I thought the same thing about potato tacos, but these were bad. They were overcooked & the potato & cheese mixture was super doughy. Found this place by accident and was our first time there. Ordered food for my whole family because everyone was super hungry. It was a great experience. The employees were friendly and helpful. Just got lunch to go from Armando's. Trying a different place in our area. I got the fish tacos with the rice and beans and my husband ordered the fish burrito. The food was pretty bad. Our fish wasn't hot, barely heated, and it tasted like it had been fried some time ago. On a positive side there was lots of fish, but I eventually had to move it aside and just eat the cabbage/tortilla. The beans were tasteless, but the rice was good. Over all we were very disappointed in the quality. Since both these dishes contained fish, maybe they excel at other things, but I probably won't find out as I won't be back. read more

Right off the bat, you notice from the first bite you take is that all ingredients are fresh and for a change in a fast food type environment, Mexican food wise guacamole is definitely made in the house. The sauces are fresh taste great and actually carry some pretty good heat and hot and or mild but flavorful , in the mild sauces, the food is cooked to perfection. I am definitely coming back. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five instead, I didn't notice there are no napkins at the table. However, they do keep the place extremely clean. Was a bit disappointed given the positive reviews. Wasn't terrible, but not impressed. We ordered the cheese enchilada plate and guacamole with chips. It was clear that the enchiladas were not properly prepared. I expect to deal with cold food sometimes with delivery, but the cheese was still in shreds on the inside, indicating that it had never been melted. The beans and rice were acceptable. The guacamole was oddly creamy and needed more flavor for me - even more lime would've really helped. I ordered a number of different salsas and the only one I really liked was the orange. The spicy green had a very bitter taste, and the chunky green was just ok. None of the salsas were very spicy if that's what you're looking for. Maybe just an off day. The interior is just decent enough for me to feel comfortable -- it's a level above hole-in-the-wall, although there is a small hole in the wall, next to the kind of art prints commonly found in Mexican restaurants. As for the food, the corn tortillas stand out as some of the best I've had. The salsas are excellent, with a genuine roasted taste. The rest of the dish (fajita veggies, refried beans, avocado, salad, and rice) is pretty standard, but comes together quite nicely. read more

Came here at the recommendation of my Yelper BFF, Andy. He recommended this place as he has been coming here for years. Items tried: CA Burrito: Honestly, this is the first time I've tried a Cali burrito, and OMG, it's soooo good!!! The mixture of the carne asada, fries, cheese, sour cream, guac, and salsa fresco was a great combo. I think I was missing some fries on my half of the burrito, tho. Pollo Asado Fries: I've never had PA on my fries. I've always ordered the carne asada fries. Different, and the seasoning used was good. I really liked how the chicken chunks were tender, and I believe they used dark meat (which I prefer). Portion was really generous, and we didn't even finish. Andy ordered the fries "crunchier", which definitely made the difference with the thinly sliced french fries. I still prefer the CA fries vs. the PA fries, but I'm glad I tried something new. Next time, we'll order the half CA and half PA fries, which he indicated they are able to do. It was noted that they are able to customize without question. The employees are really friendly, and I attempted a conversation with the guys behind the counter. Pretty small hole in the wall in a hidden shopping center. It's a shame that the location is horrible. Orders came out to be $11.20. Reasonably priced with the amount of food you get. I'll definitely come back to try other items. read more

I wouldn't trust the hours they have posted. Swung by around 10:00 and they had already turned off their fryer. Claiming they had to close early to clean up. (I assumed this would be done after hours?) the staff seemed to be fighting over closing early. After a bit of back and forth, I was able to place my order There was another customer in there who seemed to have a bad experience too. Something about being billed extra? I should've seen this as a red flag but decided to give them a try anyway. Now after a long day, I made it home to find that my burrito was made wrong and it's the coldest I've ever had. Tried calling but they wouldn't do much at 10:40p since they were "closed" What a waste. Definitely not going back. I work near the area but I'll make sure to stay clear of this place read more
