Was so excited to celebrate Valentines Day at Alberto's. On vacation in Naples. Made our reservation in September confirmed it last week. Showed up and they didn't have our reservation. We weren't the only ones with lost reservations. They asked if it was on Open Table because they acted like it's happened a lot with it. You don't want to blame the host because it's not his fault. Needs training with dealing with busy nights. No manager to speak with. Very disappointed that there was no acceptance of responsibility and effort to accommodate us differently then a walk up reservation. We did have a great meal. Would recommend you get some sort of confirmation of your reservation and a name although not sure if it would have made a difference. Alberto's needs to give more effort towards the customer service end of the business. read more

We've been to Alberto's every time we visit Naples. I made reservations two months ago to show up today to be told by the hostess that "Open Table" double booked reservations and that we would need to wait 1-2 hours. Mistakes do happen, but the attitude of the hostess was completely unprofessional, and when I asked to speak to a manager, she stated she was the manager. I am very disappointed with how this was handled, and I wish this was handled differently. Shout out to Caffe Milano a few doors down for being the real MVPs squeezing us in and for a fabulous Italian meal! After reading other reviews, it appears this is a common practice for this establishment, abs that they choose to take VIP tables over actual reservations. In light of this, I will be making it my common practice to visit any other Naples Italian restaurant. read more

We went for a early dining special. We got a 2 course meal including a glass of wine. WOW!!! The mussels were done to perfection. The burrata served with arugula and Italian ham was clean and nice. The pesto pasta with scallops was amazing! The pasta was perfectly cooked and the pesto was very fresh tasting. My spouse had the pasta with shrimp and a tomato sauce. The shrimp was so cooked perfect. The tomato sauce was light and fresh. We will surely return ! read more

Love this little Italian restaurant on 5th Avenue. My husband and I had dinner here yesterday. I met a local while out shopping and she highly recommend the early bird special. It runs from 4:30 to 6:30 and is a great deal. For $25 you get an appetizer, main course and glass of house wine. Let me start with the olive bread. It is amazing! For first course we tried the caprese and Spinach salads. The spinach salad had figs and creme fresh and the dressing was just lovely. For main course my husband had the homemade linguine with shrimp and it was delicious. I had the spinach and ricotta stuffed with a dreamy cream sauce. Both dishes were prepared well and the service was impeccable. The house wine was also very good. I tried both the Chardonnay and the Cabernet as my husband doesn't drink. Lucky me. Lol I had the pleasure of meeting the chef and he was very affable. The entire staff is professional and make you feel welcome. Alberto's has great quality food at a good price. Best deal on 5th! Dinner on a Thursday evening. Our waiter was excellent- informative and honest about the menu. Bread was warm and delicious, especially the olive bread. Brie and pear salad was good. Didn't need the toasted baguette slices on the top, Brie was sloppily cut into large chunks that I ended up smearing on some bread. The pear was delectable, and I really tasted the clove. Entree was sort of the disappointment-the taglireni were a bit overdone for my taste. Almost like ramen in texture, mixed with pesto and crab meat. We ordered two desserts- crime brûlée and tirimisu. Once upon a time I went to Alberto's. It was a semi classy place with good food. I was enjoying my meal and it was almost time to leave when "an important customer" sat down behind us. That was the end of our service. The staff was drooling so profusely over these peeps that they forgot about us. And I mean forgot about us. I was so insulted it took me years to go back. Fast forward to last summer. First time back after the last experience. Food was decent and the service was ok. Let's remember it was the summer. Double fast forward to last night. In season. Upon sitting down I noticed the dirtiest wine glass that I have ever seen. Water glass has a crack in the base. Table cloth had a black smudge. Food mediocre at best. Had dinner here this Christmas Eve, ordered their Zuppa di Pesce pasta, it was their special. I was not impressed with this dish, the sauce was not developed with a seafood flavor, it was bland tomato sauce. It was supposed to have included Mussels, salmon, shrimp, and grouper, however, it contained only one very small bit of salmon, a few mussels, no grouper, and five shrimp. I have had much better tasting Zuppa di pesce at other local restaurants for far less cost than here, it's not about the money, I'm happy to pay for the meal if it tastes great. This dish was ho-hum. Alberto's is always a good choice. It's a good idea to go for the early dining menu. The early menu is $24 a person. It comes with a nice size appetizer, glass of wine, and an entree. Extremely disappointed in the quality of service and the taste and uniqueness and taste of each of their presentations. First impressions are everlasting. Well, sorry I expected a lot more, however, disappointed. We ordered their tuna tarter, which upon arrival, I immediately returned it visually observing that the tuna was mixed with some white cream .. I can smell it was not fresh and they, the chef, covered it all again with cream .. I exchanged it for their spinach salad, which was just ok. Also ordered was the Hudson fois guai, it was again ok. The only appetizer that was better than ok were their mussels. The ribeye steak was drenched in sauce, which our server, did not mention .. less than ok. The veal medallions were again ok .. nothing special along with mash potatoes which were cold .. really. Warm veal and cold potatoes. I order their surf and turf special and it was nothing special Bland plain quite boring. Lastly, the swordfish was boring .. if you look at my reviews here on yelp, I'm carefully reviewing and careful picking a venue to enjoy .. our server was seen twice. Cold bread. I ordered a grey goose cosmo where's my pretty lime ..? Unfortunately, I had to ask staff not once, not twice 3 times to please remove plates .. really .. a bill of over $300 for 4 is fine BUT NOT HERE .. No early bird no dinner no nothing worth trying here! I ordered the NY steak and it was all fat only 2 small bites were eatable. Server spoke to Manager and nothing was done! I offered to pay for my white wine and asked to have my dinner removed and nothing was done to clarify nor make up for the nastiness I had to encounter! At this rate I can't see your establishment improving. Remember one thing Mr Manager in hospitality the customer is always right! My brother had to return his dinner as well, he ordered the overly blackened seasoned shrimp and scallops skewer but he was comped not mine. Shame on you Mr Manager! Prepared to get hosed. This is the worst place in Naples to eat. There is NO management on site to help resolve an issue and the staff that IS there does not care. There are plenty of tourists in Naples to take advantage of so your business or satisfaction is not important to them. I made a reservation for an outdoor table and when we arrived there was no outdoor table available. The hostess did not know WHEN a table would be available. Really? All she had to do was look outside and assess the situation. She was incapable and stupid. We asked them to move two tables together outside and she refused. When I asked for a manager the only person to speak to was the bartender who couldn't care less. Seriously, I've never experienced such a lack of concern at any restaurant. And now for the food...it was inedible unless you like a giant helping of SALT. My cocktail was also abysmal. How do you ruin a martini? Simply fabulous This was our second visit to Alberto's and we were as satisfied this time as we were the first! The service was top notch, the early dinner special generously portioned as well as amazingly delicious. I am personally a clean freak. I had a delightful romantic dinner on 5th avenue. Alberto's on Fifth distinguishes itself as decadent, Northern-Italian cuisine with many French influences. For appetizers, we ordered fresh mozzarella Buratta with a soft creamy inside. This is the only restaurant in Naples to serve Vitello Tonnato: a room-temperature served veal with a rich tuna sauce and capers. It's amazing! For the main course, I couldn't decide between pastas: the Veal Ravioli or the one stuffed with Spinach and Ricotta Cheese. Our waiter spoiled me with a half-portion of both, which were equally delicious in their own ways. My date had the Pesto Pasta with Jumbo Lump Crab. While she barely allowed me to try any (if that is any indication), with the little she did share, I enjoyed the fresh basil and cream of the pesto sauce and fresh chunks of crab meat. You can tell that the pasta is made fresh. Dishes were moderately priced compared to other fine Italian fare in Naples (some of which are a few feet away). We finished the meal with refreshing Lemon Gelato served in a flute glass with Limoncello. Chef Alberto himself made his way to our table and spoke with us. Ate here last night the food is OK but there are hundreds of outstanding restaurants in Naples/Bonita area. But the service is horrendous. I have never before in any restaurant ever been told by a waiter " I am too busy". We asked for lemons with our water. The waiter actually said "I am too busy" I should have told him at the end" I'm in too much of a hurry to pay the bill" got up & left. We let it go & had our dinner. We dine out a lot, but we only go back to restaurants we think are special. We've been going to Alberto's for years but last night may have been our last visit. The food at Alberto's is fine--but not anything more. Did it slip in quality or are we bummed by the failure to innovate with the menu? Not sure. The food is just no longer memorable. The service is uneven (one dish in our group of five had to go back because the server chose not to write down the instructions). The place felt tired. My mussels starter was good but not great. The broth had little flavor. The toast served with it was sad and soggy. My daughter's pasta Bolognese was over-sauced to the point of being unpleasant. My salmon filet was not bad but it was served over a "scoop" of mashed potatoes that reminded me of the ones served by the lunch lady at school. Got there before 5:30 for early dining: $24 for an appetizer, entree, glass of wine. Food was good. We were overcharged. They added in $6 for the Wine. Why? No explanation. Server was unpleasant and ignorant. She said second glass of wine would also be same price as early dining. Not true! The worst was when she brought me the wrong wine for my second glass and poured it right on top of my still half full first glass. Now I have a glass and a half of mixed wine I could not drink. My friend had finished her first glass of wine and ended up with my selection for her second glass. Server disappeared until we were finished and I pointed out the Wine error. She insisted she had not erred, even with my friend concurring with me. I asked her to take it off the bill and she argued with me. I asked her if she wanted to take it off the bill or for me to take it out of her tip. I ended up paying $34 for a $24 dinner. What kind of server argues with a patron? Get the manager if you can't handle yourself. read more

we went to Alberto's restaurant today to celebrate a friends 79 th birthday . we were seated at four thirty for the early bird menu.we all ordered a drink martinis etc. And we're immediately pressured to order our meals by out waiter Anthony.As the early bird is valid until five thirty we said we were not ready to order right away and would like to enjoy our cocktails and would be sure to order within the prescribed time, say five or so.He actually proceeded to tell us we had to order immediately as they had to turn over our table and had reservations as it was a Friday and other tables were already ordering that had been seated when we were.We actually refused to order and he stood at our table trying to bully us into ordering. We actually ordered at 5 o'clock and the food was great . Nothing like quality Italian food, served by a waiter who clearly knows his stuff. The food was great overall--the burrata was perfectly creamy, the pasta dishes hit the spot. Though it seems like their items are somewhat pricey (though perhaps not by Naples standards), they do have an early dinner special that includes an appetizer, entrée, and glass of house wine, which is a nice touch. Our first time at Albertos a couple of months ago was great. We had a good server and the food was good. So we decided to take our French visitors there for dinner. Very disappointing service. Antonio was not attentive at all, he never returned to the table to see if we needed anything,; even our water glasses were empty. Beautiful restaurant, right in my wheel house. Good service, with a nice selection of entrees. I saw the prices and they are right in line with most high end restaurant. They have a nice bar, but there do fall short in some areas. The portions are small. I ordered the sea bass and it was tasty, mostly because it was drowned in a creamy polenta. The fish was over cooked and the sauce was overwhelming. Sea bass is a great protein and it needs to be flaky. It was a little tough and you could not taste the polenta. I have no idea why I have never eaten at Alberto's but my daughter and I had a delicious lunch today served by "Gift," who, I might add, should be treated as such. She made some excellent suggestions and was so attentive. The pasta was clearly homemade as was the sauce with fresh tomatoes. Went w family on a Saturday night for my birthday in the off season & we all tried each other's dish. Menu is not overwhelming & just 3 entree specials that night. Ahh good ol' Fifth Avenue in Naples! What a classy, strange, expensive and unique environment (to say the least). I would say, Alberto's is probably the best and most traditional Italian restaurant in the area. From the noodles, alfredo sauce, Pinot Noir, ice cubes, all the way down to the olive oil, warm bread, and phenomenal waiters and waitresses, Alberto's is on another level!!! A++ Although Alberto's might be the type of place for a 68 year old man to take his 19 year old girlfriend, I would still strongly suggest experiencing this phenomenal and authentic cuisine on your own accord! read more

The noise level was LOUD. The service was subpar. The wine selection very good and overpriced. The salads were excellent. The veal was rubbery at best. Veal medallions, when the menu stated "Sautéed All Natural Veal Tenderloin served Asparagus and Porcini Mushrooms"..... there were literally two pieces of asparagus and two mushrooms. Really? For $37.00? I guess we are on the main street of Naples. So Victor, our unattentive waiter says, "What's the problem"?" We had the 2 course meal al fresco including a glass of wine for $25 (summer special after 830pm). I chose the mussels as an appetizer and it was plentiful and delicious. My husband had a caprese salad as an appetizer and the pasta Ragu allá Bolognese for the main course and both were delicious and pretty big portions. The glasses of Cabernet we were served were excellent which is not the norm for these kinds of specials. To top it off our waiter, Anthony was extremely engaging, professional and attentive. We came here after the Cars on Fifth event in February. It was extremely busy and all the restaurants in the main area on Fifth Avenue South were full unless we had a reservation. Caffe Milano on the corner seemed promising at first and told us it would be a 15 minute wait. While waiting, we took a walk down the block and stumbled upon this place. The hostess at the front was really nice when we asked to look at the menu. They had seating right away and it looked cleaned so it was a no-brainer. It was such a pleasant surprise. The service and the food were excellent. We had the mussels appetizer and ordered two specials (the branzino and the lamb chops) that the server recommended. For dessert, we had the tiramisu. The food was just delicious and the server was very attentive. Amazing experience and looking forward to returning. Well worth the splurge. read more
